Mobs are... doing things! Things that make sense!

Seems they've spruced up the idle animations that a lot of mobs use. I know they've made it so Hellions dance and throw fire, and various council sit on crates and hold weapons.

But, since I15 went live this morning, I saw:

Tsoo practicing (/e kata)
Tsoo meditating (/e yoga with a red glow around their head)
Crey doing research (/e laptop)

What else have you seen in terms of idle emotes that seems to be new?

...I forgot what experience means.

Why aren't these awesome things in the notes?

Posted

because if the notes read "mobs are doing things that make sense" no one would know what that meant

To avoid spoiling some of the "Cool!" ?

ZOMG.

Does this mean I'm going to have to be the one who stands around the mission map, slamming my fist into my palm?

The title is a complete lie, just now I saw a group of Outcasts trying to break into a bus stop. They are still doing things that make absolutely no sense.

Of course I do wonder what happens when they successfully break into an open air buss stop.

I always figured they were vandalizing them. Like, chiseling in their gang tags or something.

It would probably make more sense if there were spraypaint or marker emotes for them to be using, though.

I saw Lost moving rocks in wheelbarrows, and sleeping during their "sermons". Don't remember seeing that before.

Haven't you noticed that despite having so many bus stops in Paragon, there are no buses? That's because those bus stops are actually full of gold! Tasty, tasty, pirate booty! And it's alllll mine!

Actually it's because a strike by the bus driver union in protest of the "new" monorail being built. It is the longest labor strike in US history, and there have been accusations in the past that Arachnos is somehow involved in the continued impasse.

In a related note, continued fuel shortages in the Rogue Isles continue to mean that there is little road traffic on several islands. Few oil tankers have risked travel to the Rogue Isles since Miss Liberty sank the Cairo Queen off the island of Port Oakes.

One expects that Miss Liberty would get in trouble with environmentalists due to sinking an oil tanker full of crude, but since they get mysteriously eaten by Devouring Earth critters every time they open a new office - with heroes accepting to go rescue them become mysteriously busy and unavailable -, it's all good.

I remember seeing some of this in beta. I was in a CoT mission and they were doing things like reading scrolls and holding torches.

If you were startled by potted plants in corners of offices while fighting DE, prepared to be even more surprised! Certain DE are now disguising themselves as trees indoors! Others are howling!

(That damn Killer Dirt scared me half-way out of my chair the first time I encountered it.)

I knew it the whole reason they hide out in Croatoa is to get training from the pumpkin guys!

I've seen an awful lot of Banished Pantheon guys banging on drums this evening. (Not sure if that's a new thing, or not, since I'm pretty new around here.... )

Depends where you are. I remember a bunch of them in Dark Astoria doing that. They all drum because they worship Buddy Rich. true story.

This is all new because folks are referring to what they now do in instanced door missions.

I too have seen the Lost sleeping while a boss gives a sermon and the BP playing drums and bongos or mining with pick axes whilst Shaman cast green empathy like rings.

Funny thing is, we encountered those "sleeping" lost inside of a police station on a Kings Row radio mission. It was very weird to go into the police station expecting to see guns blazing and instead its filled with strung out Lost laying on any flat surface they could find!

That's been happening for a while. I'm reasonably sure that the changes have gone from happening in some story arcs and other specific times in which you see the enemy group to occurring in a greater number of situations, which means that more people now see them.

I saw a BP zombie attempting to dig a hole in the floor of a warehouse this evening. Rotting brains, indeed. On the other hand, Tuatha, who used to paw the earth, howl, and whatnot, are now all standing around with their forehooves crossed behind their backs.

On an only slightly more serious note, I'd love to be able to pick some "idle" animations for custom groups.

In the radio mission I just did, the Lost minions were panhandling with a tin cup and lying around on the sewer grates. Some were lying face down in the poo water. A couple times they "ambushed" me because I didn't see them -- they were underwater.
