How do you Kick someone offline from a TF?
You can't. As soon as they come back, kick them off then.

What does it matter? They won't get exp or even a badge unless they are there for a significant part of the final mission. You can kick them if they show back up.

The tf is spawning extra badies for them even though they arn't there to help. Also some people "DC" and then come back for the last mish or 2 (by some amazing coincedence).

It spawns for them even if they aren't online at the time. Or at least that's my experience.
I was very surprised Saturday to discover that the MA does the same thing. Two guys had to go and exited without quiting the team. When the two of us asked for and went into the final mission of the arc the spawns were just as big and difficult as they had been when there were four of us.
The only reason we went back in after the first wipe and soldiered on after almost getting wiped again was because the arc had been so good up to that point we wanted to finish it. heh... my dominator had one of those awesome moments when the mastermind died leaving me to face a a big group of +1 and +2 custom mobs while trapped in a dead-end hallway. It was freakin' sweet and how I managed to survive I still don't know.

edit: nope doesn't work when they are offline
[/ QUOTE ] It has worked for me plenty of times while they are offline. All I did was scroll up the chat to find their name somewhere and copy/paste it after "/kick ".
The dialog comes up asking me if I really want to kick them from the team.. they wont be able to rejoin.. blah blah, and I press yes. The spawns seem to adjust to the new team size just fine.
I admit there have been a few times when it didn't work. We've finished the mission and saw a kicked player outside the door or talking in broadcast later on.. which means it worked. But there have been a few times when a kicked player signs back in, and they are still on the team. It's not that hard to quickly kick them again though. I can't explain what's different about any two occurances to make it work or not work.
Something to try anyway. Thanks.

[/ QUOTE ]Yep, did that on one of the Shard TFs a while back. One person was constantly AFK near the beginning of the TF, and then logged out. They logged back in right after we started the final mission, and I booted 'em.

So either it was a bug when it worked for you or a bug when it didn't. I think it'd be a nice QoL feature to look into but I know it didn't work well for me.
It would say the person was kicked when they really weren't, happened on a treespec I ran once.
Also, this can easily be tested. I'll report the results later tonight unless someone does it before I get off of work.

I forgot this command, I seen someone do it before, I honestly can not remember.
Question:
If someone fake dc's, how do you kick them from the TF if they are not signed in?
[/ QUOTE ]
How do you know if a DC is a "fake" DC? I have DC'ed at times and its taken forever to get back on. (Sometimes when I get back I find that everybody DC'ed at the same time.)
Sometimes it takes so long to get back because my screen has frozen and I have to reboot the computer in order to log back on ... AND THEN ... I find I'm in verify file hell!!!
Actually, I've been pretty lucky not being kicked from teams. In fact, sometimes when I'm called to dinner, I tell my teammates and they tell me not to quit the TF but to log out, so I can rejoin after I'm finished eating.

Some people log out cause they want to mooch and no one is talking the 10-20 min to reboot/verify etc. More like hours, remember some tf's are very long.

If you can afford to wait thirty minutes (the time it takes for a server to reset an account's settings to default) you should be able to use the command sited above to kick offline players from the team.
This should work even if the player really disconnected as after that amount of time the server will check the account status and reset if it finds the account inactive.
What about when the leader goes AFK inside a TF mission?
We had that happen on a positron once. We finished the mish before the final substation mish. We call came out, except the leader. We think he fell asleep at the keyboard. Called a GM, they couldn't do anything. So after waiting 15 min or so for the leader (who never did come out), we disbanded. On a faster TF it wouldn't have been a problem. But on something like Positron or Dr. Quarterfield...that's a REAL Painful way for a TF to end.
As a result...I haven't done a TF since.

Why not just have everyone log out for the evening and come back the next day? I'm sure by that point the MIA leader would have logged, and the first one back on would get the star. You'd stay on the TF team, as long as there were at least 2 players left, and you could have completed the final mission.

Had that happen on a Manticore TF (with only one defender, no controllers, whee). We had been doing it for hours, since we didn't have a very good combo of players and almost everyone was min level. Finally, 6am, we were on the last mission and finished it. Everyone left the mission except the leader. i was literally falling asleep at keyboard myself and some of the other members said the same thing.
It ended up okay, though. After we waited around and talked about it for 30min or so the guy woke up and left the mission then called it in. i know several of the guys were already asleep, but there was no reason not to just stay online at that point and wait for the leader.
Anyway, back to the OP. What we've always done is just kick the ones that log out like that as soon as they come back online. i don't mean after dc'ing and coming back in a few minutes, but if they leave and don't come back until the last mission they get booted, no matter what they claim happened.
When did they change it back to having logged-off toons affect mission spawns?
