You see what happens when you say you're going to leave Doll?

...You get people so upset they start getting at each others necks...

...Surely this is a sign telling you to stay...

...And surely you are more inclined to...

They need to nerf the market and put a cap on recipe and Io's.

[/ QUOTE ]

I wholeheartedly agree.

I made 10 billion inf this last year on the market. I have complete faith that I could double that if they put a price cap on items on the market. I may be able to triple it.

Why can't Elk be in charge of all the [censored] he doesn't understand? I really want him to start making the rules.

Bravo, sir. Bravo.

But really, [censored] PSW changes- let's go find this Tim guy and beat the snot out of him!

He should be easy enough to find. He's the one porking the cutest cheerleader and driving the beamer to class.

Then I must be a lousy player, 'cause I can't stand my Gravity / Electricity Assault Dominator. It's so weak compared to every other toon I've had. I somehow managed to get him to level 50, but I've hardly touched him since.

Every other toon I have, I changed my difficulty to level 4 at level 32, and never had a problem. He was still at difficulty 2 at level 50, and still had problems. :\

[/ QUOTE ]

Hmmm...didn't see him mention you specifically but okay...

Anyway, sorry to see you feeling as if you need to leave Doll, but I will urge you to stick it out, provide constructive feedback and hang tight until it goes live before heading out the door.

I am never happy about nerfs and I think I still hold a grudge against ED but the bright side is that I have so much freaking fun with IOs and builds now that it trumpets that for the most part...just took me a while to come around!

Perhaps you'd be able to, say, find a set that you like playing more and trumpets the nerfs? And I mean really play...regular leveling...enjoy the ride or something I dunno.

I guess if you decide to leave, good luck on your travels & have fun out there

QFT. I have to add that the character creation is nice and has some interesting features and every cool name that is taken in City is currently available in CO. HOWEVER, the graphics are ... not very good. They look a lot like my "graphics minimum" on the high-powered machine I used. And some of the attack chain quirks, are not so nice either. Unless it gets lots better, there is no interest here in a switch, even a temp one.

Except the character creation, it is confusing and impossible to use, may help that the graphics match that of pong. CO is full of fail, seems liked they've taken what the players here at CoX would like to see and put it into a game with a 20 dollar budget.

Man, anyone who thought PSW wasn't gonna get a range/end/recharge/damage nerf is straight up delusional. Look what happened when it got ported to blasters.

For the people who can't handle suspense, it got a damage nerf, its recharge was increased, its end cost was increased and the range was decreased.

I'm not saying I'm a fan of this change but 1: with the damage changes I don't think its -that- big a deal, PSW is still a great power for blasters and 2: man seriously it was right there how could people not see this coming?

Been reading the thread about the Dom changes, and there seems to be a sizable number of folks that actually have /psi doms that are happy with the changes overall, especially for working through the lower levels. Most said the set was junk until PSW anyway, and now it won't be with some smart slotting. And as others have said, the numbers on test now are not set in stone yet.

At least test it before you go, Doll. Don't just rely on seeing some numbers on a chart.

PSW was essentially reduced in damage to the point that with the new Dominator damage numbers it does the same damage as it does on live OUTSIDE of domination (assuming 95% damage slotting). Nerf? Yes. Does it render the power useless? No.

As for the other hits (end/rech), those do hurt the power. But any player with a powerset containing Drain Psyche AND an AT inherent the fills the END bar when you click it will have a hard time making the case of unmanageable endurance.

The acknowledged "oops" on Test is that the two powers (relevant to this thread, PSW) is still set to the "Ranged" damage modifier as it has been (incorrectly) since the powerset came out. My numbers posted earlier are after this bug/mistake is fixed, as it has already been confirmed to be on the way.

I tried out CO after getting my invite.

The problems, in order of finding them:

Character looks all blurry in the creator tool...
Only one face possible. No way to change the mouth shape, eye size/shape, nose, nothing. All you can do is overlay the face with wrinkles...?
Blocky character. No body sliders that have any real impact.
Picked my powersets...was told something weird about the powers I got. Didn't really know what the game was talking about.
Entered the game. No voice acting. Everything looked sepia and drab. Unless you turn off bloom, things look weird and foggy.
Realised the only way to make the game look kinda nice was to turn on outlines and all the other cartoon stuff. This turned the game into a sort of Marvel Ultimate Alliance, but with far more complex and opaque controls. Still couldn't fathom the levelling system.
The GUI seemed to be lifted directly from Age of Conan...
Your character spends most of the time being tiny on screen, cos the only way to see your enviroment properly is to zoom waaay out.
Played though some missions...I think? I got some tasks from NPCs but had no idea how they linked together or what my overall aim was.

I gave up after a couple of goes. My character looked ugly and the power animations were just lame.

I never had any problems with any dom I've ever made once I learned how to play them. From the little I have tested, I am not impressed with the changes.

From testing my Ice/Ice Dom and the three 2-7s (so far) that I played around on for a few hours with these changes today, Doms just might replace Controllers on my preference list. All of that damage up front was ALOT of fun to use and I didn't notice endurance or recharge problems. I found a 1 Hold, 4 Attack chain (Mind/Psi) to be fine and worked rather well, however, I am going to take the three lower level ones into the teens tomorrow to see if the fun changes any.

IMO, the telling factor was playing up a Grav/Eng without using a single veteran temp attack, which, up until now I felt were manditory for lower level enjoyment (Yes, I am spoiled by five years of vet rewards. ).

For someone who didn't even play her mind/psy dom to it's fullest extent (I don't think she even permadom'ed it, at least it wasn't for a very long time), it is surprising that you would leave over a nerf to one power. Infact alot of your toons weren't really built that well.

If you want to give it all up over 1 change, that hasn't even been finalized.... have fun out there....

Her toons were built to her specifications for enjoyment of her $14.99 a month. Who are you to dictate what makes something fun for someone else or not? Sorry to get a bit flamey here, but I absolutely HATE when someone judges someone else's character as "good build" or "bad build". There is a reason that the game allows you to select your powers on level ups. Because not everyone plays the powerset the same way. IF you can't play with a person because of their build or play style, then you have the right to find another team. It doesn't have to resort to slapping labels on people or their characters.

Likewise, if the Devs make a change that makes the game not fun for her anymore, she also has the right to take her $14.99 elsewhere. And although we will miss her and would like her to stay, we can express these wants without labeling her, as a person, or her toons, as well built or poorly built.

It has been my experience so far that this MMO doesn't really require optimized toons.

It really is more like something where you can just make your character in whatever flavor you want and it will probably work in some fashion and you can have fun with it.

Even the "raids" in this game or the high end task forces don't really seem to require tons of expensive super efficient builds.

I have been on some ITF's now that were successful even with some very "less-than-optimized" players and they were still fun.
