The Architect has killed CoH. Long Live CoH.

It's true. in the most classic sense of the phrase that I'm aware of.

City of Heroes -died- when the Architect went live. And a New CoH was crowned. Nothing much else has changed.

The population spiked, then dipped (as it usually does when an issue drops) people used the new toy incessantly for a few weeks, then got back to the normal game, for the most part. And nothing changed.

It's just like royalty. A King dies and the new King is crowned, 2-3 weeks of celebration, then it's back to business as usual.

What don't people get about his? It happened when Kheldians came out (EVERYONE made Kheldians if they had the option) Then the Arena, then Villains, then the PvP zones, and so on and so forth.

There will be -some- members of the community that keep tinkering with the new toy. Like the Arena PvPers, Kheldian Players, SoA players, etc. But ultimately the vast majority of the game's population will go back to what they were doing beforehand.

PuGs are back on track, so are Task Force teams and PuG TFs. I play mostly on Virtue and Pinnacle, with a little dabbling on Guardian. I think I've got a -fairly- decent cross section of high and low population servers. I play at pretty random hours (As early as 8am, as late as 3am CST depending on my schedule)

The game is about the same as it's ever been.

Architect has killed CoH. Long Live CoH!

Interesting perspective ... I play the game solo and on teams for 2/3rds reward and 1/3rd story content (roughly). At the moment, rewards are significantly better in AE than in regular content. Prior to AE, I didn't farm as nearly as much as I did, but since the inception of AE, farming as been made fun, and allows my toons to feel more heroic.

It seems every time I log in now, I'm looking for an AE mission with tons of ambushes and/or alot of AV's, and have alot of fun playing them.

While I agree that people will eventually return to what they were doing prior to AE, you also have to realize that people who farm are returning to farming, but doing so in a more fun environment.

People who like fighting 10 groups at once will remain in AE until that aspect of MA is nerfed by the devs.

The Architect's real power is in Role Play groups that have their own dedicated message boards, continuities, etc. It allows them to branch out from the core continuity of the Paragon Universe and do their own thing with custom missions.

Walk on two legs, not on four.

Walk on four legs, break the law.

What happens when we break the law?

What happens when the rules aren't fair?

We all know where we go from there.

New story arcs coming soon (ARC IDs will be aded when I finish the arc):
So, you want to join the Hellions? (level 1-14 Villainous arc)
Sparks & Steel (level 5-20 Heroic arc)
and
So you want to join the Skulls? (level 1-14 Villainous arc)

It's called Novelty. Welcome to the human condition.

Analogy fail.
It is nothing like royalty.

There is no break in continuity with each new issue.

The monarch doesn't die, he just learns a new trick or two and, if we're lucky, gets a wardrobe change.

If they launched a whole new game called CoH II, then 'the king is dead, long live the king' would fit.

But "The king got a new TF and some cool hats!" doesn't really work.

A new CoH where heroes fight evil in ... a virtual reality sim. And where evil pretends to commit crime.

If the stories were halfway decent, and if the arc limitations weren't so harsh, MA might've been pretty interesting.

Doom.

Yep.

This is really doom.

[/ QUOTE ] I'm not so sure about that. A good task force team is tough to beat.

You know, now that we have a Mission Architect, what we really need to compliment it is a Mission Oracle...

There are usually two sides to every argument but no end.

Everything placed above this line is always IMHO, YMMV and quite certainly not to be taken too seriously....
