farming is boring
I joined an AE farm for the first time last night. After the second run, I had to quit because my eyes were bleeding from the boredom. I cannot imagine doing this for 50 levels.
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

Solution seems obvious? Don't join farms.
Farming is extremely boring, yes, but did we really need another post about it?
there's an official farming discussion thread
here
I agree with the whole "don't join farms" suggestion and all, I just wanted to voice my opinion. I was unaware that this topic has been overplayed, my bad

I was about to post something along the lines of "Not everyone has been here forever, some people may net realize that."
Then I say the OP's registration date.

Yes, farming is boring.
So is repeatedly running newspaper/police scanner missions against the same tired old groups all the time.
So is running the same arcs for the 50th time on a different alt.
The game play gets repetitive quickly; that's why I like squishies and ATs that have little minigames built in (playing "avoid the mez" or trying to maximize Fury), or simply just teaming with interesting people - good or bad players, as long as they're interesting - to relieve the doldrums of a relatively static world.
it has gone from unconscionable to downright appalling that we have no way of measuring our characters' wetness.

Even so, how could one who's been playing the game for any amount of time not realize that farming would be a heavily discussed topic?

I have been getting a lot of invites to AE teams, while I don't mind the missions, farming is, to me at least, very boring. Sure you get a lot of XP, but where is the fun in doing the same mission over and over and over? Just my opinion, hope no one blasts me too bad

Carnage (if it's a good map), and rewards is fun for me. I've ran maps like this befure where half the team quits because they keep dying. I've also ran the same maps where the team is actually organized, and we plow through 6 or 7 ambushes at a time.
I have about a three run limit before my boredom meter goes into the red. And that's if I'm actively participating. I hate door sitting.

I actually like it. At least I think it is farming. This level 50 Fire/Mental took a whole bunch of us and I went from level 4 to 18 in about an hour.

I am the exact same way. I can't stand it sometimes. I just wish more people did things outside of AE...
On Pinnacle, it's ITF, LGTF, or AE...
There is an art to making a mission interesting. When you are reduced to mashing down buttons for numbers, I know I tend to get burned out.
Playing on a map where you have declared war on the Letter "A" which seems to have embodied itself as fire throwing bosses who ran through a theater dressing room is probably going to get dull.
Playing on a map that has good rewards but has found ways to make it interesting - clever ambushes, unique maps, achilles heels to discover - that's fun for me.
The funny part is both missions could be farmed effectively.
Given that I don't have any beef with the letter A, I will choose my PUGs in AE wisely - or better yet, I start my own! In most cases, I get tells from my growing global list asking to join up because they want to do something interesting.
My overall recommendation is that instead of trying to impose your opinions on others in this discussion via the devs, try to find ways in the game to make not only your, but others' experience enjoyable. Whether that is participating on a farm, or a masterful story arc, or roleplaying that you are elbow macaroni, if you AND those around you are having fun, then you have done a good thing for the game.

WOW, not to start a server war, but this is one of the main reasons I love freedom server over all others. 24/7 I can hop on and find people doing a little bit of everything the game has to offer. Certain groups I run with do certain tasks, so I run with several different types of groups.
You have such a high and varied server pop, you can find anything on freedom.
The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

Yeah, it sure is a great thing that they're trying to stop an activity that you could simply not choose to take part in. And in the process, made content harder than you can handle.
I can sure see why you're happy. :rolls eyes:

Meh, We have a bit of PvP to keep me busy. Wednesday night is when I usually lead the RWZ Raids so that is a good night. Other then that, I've been spending most of my time in AE. It isn't TOO bad, but bothersome around mid-day.
It always feels like a City of Heroes or Villians vs City of "lonely" Heroes or Villians.

lol, I suppose so. There are always ppl hanging in the AE buildings who you can team with. They usually don't care if it's real content or whatever. I guess it's just the cool place to hang out while lft instead of under Atlas.
