AE says.... WHAT???

We've been SideKicking since the beginning. Level range has always been almost irrelevant if you have people that can SK the lower levels.
[/ QUOTE ]
One advantage to the MA is that it autosidekicks. Normally you need to have at least one person in the range of the mission to sidekick one other player. So at most only half the team will be sidekicked.
This is one reason why I'm designing my MA mission to be open to all ranges from 1-53. (Except for the first mission, which caps at 30 for story reasons) If you try to go into it thinking you'll be sidekicked, I think everyone will end up their natural level. (And have to sidekick manually)
It's really quite useless to sidekick a level 10 up to 40, though. While it's nice to get the 10 some levels, he won't gain them any faster than he normally would, and can't do anything. So it's better to just start a whole new set of lowbies if that's what your group or SG wants to do. Or just solo to 22, it doesn't take that long.

Why not let the person the post was meant for or a person that would actually fit that senario bring that up if it applies. We don't need a bunch of strawmen running around like chicken little.

Not every second people spend on the forums is time when they could have been on the game itself - some of us have to leave the house on occasion.
I've also been here 3 years and made maybe three friends, one of whom just dropped his sub. Playing at night (like say 3 AM) and suffering from altoholism spread across three servers I rarely get a chance to see the same faces day after day. I don't mind as I like to solo sometimes.
And your last sentence really doesn't seem to make sense.

This isn't just to you but to the whole string that this started from.
Introducing new players to the global channels on their server is never a bad thing if they are complaining about not being able to find teams.
The people you meet locally on your teams could oftentimes be found globally in those channels, the introduction of global friends many years back was a very important one. There's really no excuse to not find people on your server regardless of time. I play on Triumph and there are definitely the regulars that are on at various times every day as well as many many more.
tl;dr version:
Stop making excuses about not finding people to play with and join your server's global channels.

It's just proper etiquette to let someone know what kind of team you're inviting them in on. If it's a regular mission team, you send a tell first saying "mission team, interested?". If it's an AE farm team, you likewise let them know ahead of time. There's no sense in wasting people's time assuming that they'll be interested in the same things you are.

Which is interesting because every single invite I have gotten from an AE team says its an AE team. Most go far enough to say AE team "story arcs not farming" or AE team "farm".

So I recently decided to roll a new toon. I'm not one for PL'ing or Farming (but that's my choice).
Here's my problem...
Say in broadcast "lvl 13 LFT" get an invite from a lvl 15 who goes on to form a team. Invites a lvl 11, 9, 2, 25, 30 and another 30. Ummmm how's this going to work?
Oh, they say, we're gonna do a lvl 40 AE farm.
AE says WHAT?? How can this work? No stamina, no travel powers (aside from purchased jetpack and earned ones from Mayhem missions), and limited attacks. And we're supposed to fight a Boss Farm?
MA could not have been intended for this. Shouldn't teams be formed within lvl range with enemies around the same levels? I don't understand.
So here I am, playing an MMO solo. That kinda stinks because the whole point of MMO is teaming up. If I wanted to solo through levels I could just play something on PS.
I know there are going to be those who are going to tell me to do just that, but I just wanted to voice my confusion about AE.
Hopefully this is getting a serious review by the Devs. I know they're fixing some of the things with the new issue, but.......... time will tell.

Did you give it a try and even see if it was fun, or did you just not try it and assume that?
I've been on some crazy mixed up teams with some crazy mixed up missions, and some of the weirdest ones actually turned out fun.
My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

Because with the huge presence of AE in Atlas and Mercy with level 50s there doing Boss farms, new players get the idea that this is how CoH should be played. This makes almost EVERY team similar to the experience of the OP.
Way, WAY too many players used the SK system and now use the AE's auto-SK system as an excuse to PL. And you can spot them because they accuse everyone else of hating on the SK system.
I wouldn't mind seeing the SK (aka PL) system done away with entirely. Your friend has a lower level toon who wants to play with you? Fantastic. Pull out YOUR lower level toon and play then. What's that? You don't have any lower level toons cause you PL'ed them all? Then you and your friend can roll a couple of new chars to play together. It's not that hard to just do it the way MMO players have done it for years before the SK (PL) system. (Unless of course your focus is not on playing with your friend, but on PLing your friend.)

... I'm not exactly a big powerleveller and I have to say that you're making my side of the argument look stupid.
Suppose three people- let's call them "me" , "my wife", and "our friend Amy"- want to play some characters we don't pull out much, on a server where we don't hang out much. I've got a 21, my wife has a 20 (played mostly together) and our friend Amy has a 12.
Well, time for the big PL scumbags we are to start from scratch, huh?

Imagine you have every slot on every server filled with characters of varying levels (which I do). You want to introduce your friend to the game and he decides to build a character on a server where your lowest character is 20. The SK/Exemp system allows you to play with him. Without it you would have to tell him, sorry, gotta level on your own til you get near my level.
Yeah, this is why I quit playing WoW. If they made that the only option here I'd probably quit playing this game too.
Luckily that would never happen.
Ok forget your idea, its BAD.
But since you are on freedom I find it hard to understand the whine about finding teams. Do you have like minded friends? Are you on "any" of the chat channels. Let's deal with the real issue and quit the MA witch hunt crapola that dead horse needs a break at this point.

It's true. in the most classic sense of the phrase that I'm aware of.
City of Heroes -died- when the Architect went live. And a New CoH was crowned. Nothing much else has changed.
The population spiked, then dipped (as it usually does when an issue drops) people used the new toy incessantly for a few weeks, then got back to the normal game, for the most part. And nothing changed.
It's just like royalty. A King dies and the new King is crowned, 2-3 weeks of celebration, then it's back to business as usual.
What don't people get about his? It happened when Kheldians came out (EVERYONE made Kheldians if they had the option) Then the Arena, then Villains, then the PvP zones, and so on and so forth.
There will be -some- members of the community that keep tinkering with the new toy. Like the Arena PvPers, Kheldian Players, SoA players, etc. But ultimately the vast majority of the game's population will go back to what they were doing beforehand.
PuGs are back on track, so are Task Force teams and PuG TFs. I play mostly on Virtue and Pinnacle, with a little dabbling on Guardian. I think I've got a -fairly- decent cross section of high and low population servers. I play at pretty random hours (As early as 8am, as late as 3am CST depending on my schedule)
The game is about the same as it's ever been.
Architect has killed CoH. Long Live CoH!

Damn, maybe I need a miniguide on "how to make a freakin' team".
/t $target, "Making level 35-ish invincible team to do regular story arc missions. Interested?" If you have any particular bonus features already, like "have force fields" or "have kinetics", you can maybe mention those as an additional draw.
then you just click on a name in the search window, hit enter/uparrow/enter to send them the canned tell, repeat about ten times, see what you get. Oh, and respond to rejection with an apology for bothering them.
The idea that (drogoh quote) "I honestly could not find enough people to make a team and be remotely survivable" is insane. Three people can make a perfectly good team. I keep wanting to say "As long as one is some kind of support" but even that isn't true. I trio'd in the early days with a tank, a scrapper and a blaster. Worked fine.
I built a respec team on Freedom this way in the middle of the day. Took about 15 minutes, which was longer than I would have liked.
It's not magic. You click on blue names in your level range and ask nicely.

I am sorry but it REALLY IS that simple. I made a team today and was greeted thankfully. Then the other side of the human drama played out in chat.
TM1: Man it is hard to find a team
TM2: Yeah
ME: How long you been trying to form a team?
TM2: I HATE have the star lol...
TM1: Me too I hate being leader.
ME: Okies let's roll.
This happens ALL THE TIME. People are afraid to make a team, be a leader, speak up etc... It is a human fault, IMHO. I have been a leader since I was a kid on the schoolyard so leading a team is NPWSE(No Prob whatsoever), but for most it takes them outta their comfort zone and that IS part of the I can't find a team whining.

Yeah but Darth that doesn't justify their whining. In fact it does just the opposite. If they can't find a team because they aren't making any effort to put one together, then they have absolutely no right to complain.
There's a huge difference between a person whining that he stands around spamming broadcast with LFT messages for hours but never gets any invites, and a guy that's ticked that he can't get a regular mission team together because the people he invites are only interested in AE missions.
Oh and I'm not bashing the MA. You could insert any type of missions in there. TF's, PvP, Co-op, Sewer runs, whatever you like.
To be honest the auto-sk feature is one thing I love about the MA because my friends and I have toons all over the place level-wise and even with Sking often someone will be left out. We get together once a week to play and chat on Skype so it's not like we're PLing fiends or anything.
Note that the auto-SK feature is not an automatic indication of a farm. Several of my friends have set up missions that we like simply because of our disparity in levels. Unlike farms the missions are typically run indoors with the usual number of enemies (some custom, some not) and objectives.
Some features of the MA are great, they're just being used in an unintended fashion. I happen to like the fact that my friends and I can all hop on our fave toons and play together without worrying that one is 40 and one is 19.
"Comics, you're not a Mastermind...you're an Overlord!"
What server are you on? Yes AE farms exist but I am on Virtue and can still find PUGS, TFs, Trials .. you know the normal stuff. then follow Memphis Bills suggestion.. as you find good players form friendships and team. Not sure if other servers have them but on Virtue we have a global Virtue LFG Alpha (the first filled up so fast and so many went inactive they started a second). where you can monitor for teams looking for members in all zones and advertise that you are looking as well. We also have Virtue TF, Virtue Monsters and the original Virtue LFG which many still use.. 4 global channels designed to help you find other players that want to team.
Another good tip.. find a good active SG and you can team with your new SG mates along with any coalition SGs they may belong to.
Oh and not all AE teams are farming.. and there are GOOD missions in there as well. To find a GOOD AE team we also have the MAArc Finder (another global for those looking for an AE team or to just get advice on good missions or if your a writer good advice from other writers).
Have fun
