How is it in three years you have developed no friends network to grind through another round of PvE play?

[/ QUOTE ]

Most of my friends from the previous years on CoV have moved on to other games since. I've seen 2 people I've known from the previous several years each on twice since I myself came back to CoV from other games.

So your saying you didn't allow yourself to make new friends over the years you've been playing. Keeping only to the small circle you knew when you first started playing.

If that's true, you're anti-social and deserve to be alone.

Forbin, if they've been away from the game most of their opportunity to continue adding to their friends list would have come while playing whatever other game they found. If they've just come back, they would need to start rebuilding that list because they're right. People migrate away, and sometimes come back and sometimes not.

That said, Smurch, just keep sending out the invites, or the lft broadcasts. You will get some teams. You will find out some of them are people you like. And you can build up a brand new friends list.

I make new friends in the game fairly often. One thing I do enjoy doing is meeting new friends and turning them on to new things. I have met a few people in the architect and ended up turning them on to TFs and SFs. Some people, especially the new ones, don't realize that there is more to the game besides powerleveling noobies to levl 50. Take it upon yourself to show them that there are real zones to explore and things to do.

Furthermore, you can become a leader and do what ever you like in the game. When I first started playing, I noticed a trend of people in-game to complain about how difficult it is to find a team. At that point, I started running my own teams and haven't looked back. I never complain about not finding teams because I start my own.

Words to the wise aren't necessary- it's the stupid ones that need them.

What's your point? If a person plays like a hermit then they deserve to be alone. There are plenty of ways to meet people in this game. You have to work at being alone in this game.

A player would have to choose to use /hide to avoid general searches, change your flag to "Not accepting Invites", and ignore the people that send you tells/invites when your standing next to them in the market or leveling up.

They would also have to ignore all of the dozens of SG's that advertise recruitment. SG's are another great way to meet people.

They would also have to refuse to look on the server forums for people to meet. Gee how hard could that be since they are already on the forums complaining that they can't find teams.

My point is your prior post came across fairly clearly as you thinking they should have been making friends in CoX the entire time they were off playing a different game. In other words, you're being petty and antagonistic.

I had another idea. An arc entitled "In Soviet Russia AE Farms YOU."

All LTs with Mind Control or Illusion. Didja know that LTs get Confuse and Decieve on Standard difficulty with those two sets? I have all kinds of nasty tricks up my sleeve to make MA missions literally impossible. I just generally don't use them because I like running my own arcs, and don't want to kill myself over and over.

[/ QUOTE ]

Man, I must be sick. I LOVE this idea. You just gotta admire sick, twisted thinking that results in devilish fun!

Would certain AT's with mez protection be able to take them? Or would all those mezzes stack and overwhelm anyone?

To be honest the auto-sk feature is one thing I love about the MA because my friends and I have toons all over the place level-wise and even with Sking often someone will be left out. We get together once a week to play and chat on Skype so it's not like we're PLing fiends or anything.

Note that the auto-SK feature is not an automatic indication of a farm. Several of my friends have set up missions that we like simply because of our disparity in levels. Unlike farms the missions are typically run indoors with the usual number of enemies (some custom, some not) and objectives.

Some features of the MA are great, they're just being used in an unintended fashion. I happen to like the fact that my friends and I can all hop on our fave toons and play together without worrying that one is 40 and one is 19.

[/ QUOTE ]

Agreed. Another great thing about the auto-sk feature is that when I do go up in level I'm not at the mercy of my "mentor" ... who often run off faster than I can follow ... and suddenly I run into mobs who eat me up as snack food. (Even good friends aren't always careful mentors.)

In MA, if I get lost (as I often do) ... of if a PUG mentor decides to visit the hospital without letting me know first (as often happens) ... I don't suddenly find myself SOL.

It is a GREAT system even for those of us who aren't farmers or PL'ers. (What's more, one of my toons with stealth, ss, and emph secondaries like Healing Aura, Heal Other and Fort - all with SOs fully slotted - is a meaningful member of a high team even though she's only 26 or 28 right now.)

Again, What's your point? You call it being petty and antagonistic, I call it being sick of the whining and lame excuses.

You think that these people aren't making friends when they are playing other online games? Lord knows nobody playing this game has friends that play other games. And God forbid they send them a "Refer a friend" invite or talk them into starting a trial account when they come back after playing whatever game that they were previously enjoying.

I also know I'm not the only person here who has bought copies of CoH from places like Big Lots and given them to friends as gifts, even time cards when I know they already have an existing account.

I see no worries, welcome back. Time to add some new friends to your list it seems. Cheers.

The fact that a large portion of the player base seems to consider differences in level to be meaningless may be one of the more destructive aspects of AE.

The other day I'm on with my 50 fire/kin i get a blind invite. I've got my flag set to lft, so, even though it's not how I prefer to make contact, fair enough. I join up and start checking my teammates out. Sure enough, they're between level 6 and 10, lots of AE badges, no veteran badges.

Me: Uh guys, I'm more than 40 levels above most of you, whats the upside to me joining this team?

King n00b: Doesn't matter

Me: huh? How exactly is a level 8 gonna help me at all?

King n00b: It's auto-sk, we're all the same.

Me: Dude, you've got like 3 powers.

King n00b: I've got 6 powers

Me: Facepalm <quits team>

[/ QUOTE ]

That's exactly how I felt, but on the opposite end of the spectrum.... at lvl 11 what kind of powers or defenses can I possibly have to fight against lvl 40's? Ummm not much. Yeah auto lackey/side kick puts me in the level range, but does not grant me the same powers I will get at level 35-40, nor the same defenses at those levels.

I have several global channels active, and a great friend list, but at times I play on an off-beat time when none of my regular crew is logged on. So why shouldn't I PUG? Everyone does from time to time. Hell, even just joining up with some of the people on my globals is like PUG'ing because it seems like so many people are just joining or getting invites to chat channels, but don't necessarily know me or anyone else but the person who invited them.

So anyway, Yeah this is another thread complaining about AE, some like it some don't.

Some want to find any reason they can just to call someone else names, because it's easy to call people NOOB. Some people are just plain rude. It doesn't mean I care, nor does anyone else care how cool you think you are.

Some like to post criticisms just to be that person. "I'm cooler and smarter, and better than you because you're a nOOb". The forums are supposed to be a place to say your piece, get advice, give advice, let others know about a problem within the game, or make announcements of whatever sort. (and others) I don't think they should be treated as just another place to call people names. LOL Broadcast chat is for that.

But since you are on freedom I find it hard to understand the whine about finding teams. Do you have like minded friends? Are you on "any" of the chat channels.

[/ QUOTE ]

Umm, yeah silly..... with you. On a few chat channels, and teamed with you on quite a few TF's SF's. Good teams too.... am I that forgetable?

Hey going from level 1 to 26 in 4 boss runs I don't mind the AE stuff. Do you know how much hell it is for a brute without Stam? I never could make a brute and stick with it because I could not have fun.

I still have fun on the missions. I can still do normal missions as well if I wanted to. The game is what you make of it.

Stamina is, was, and always will be a crutch. Enjoy your crutch.
