My high volume low overhead, easy to get into niche that any fool Rp'er/PvPer could get into?

25/30 end mods.

Thats it. Its no billionaires club, but its a great starting point for lowbies and cash strapped. It costs me about 20k to craft each one (memorized recipe + parts) and people throw 300k or more at me for my trouble.

This is why i despise people that complain about how hard the market is or about ebil marketeers ripping people off. This is as casual as it gets

my baby brute has been flipping level 50 flight mods, buy around 100k sell around 300k.

Lower profit, but even less work.

I decided to get into setting out my only 50, and shortly after slotting with mostly oranges I decided to play the market game. And I gotta say. This is much harder to get screwed over than I figured. As long as you always remember to undercut, don't get greedy, and sometimes the buyer will give you the going price or even more!

I saw an opportunity with one of the pvp recipes, they hadn't had a sale for about a week, at a going price of 40 mill. I bought two recipes for 1 million, and sold them both for 15 million each. I put up a different recipe for 15 million and got 40 million for it.

I'm up to 130 million, and about 100 more in sales.

A handy bit of wisdom from my professional life has also served me well in the market-

you make your money when you buy, not when you sell.

translation- get something cheap enough and the rest takes care of itself.

4 of my toons have crafting tables. It costs inf to get it, but all of them made a tidy profit along the way. Then it continues to pay by checking what IO's are in demand and crafting them at an even better profit.

When I start a new toon, I put low bids on salvage and run it to the vendor for a profit. I have no lack on inf on any of my toons.

I love the market! and -- this thread rocks!

Heh, that's what I've found I do a couple checks when deciding to buy a recipe. Is the recipe available for a lower than usual price? Is the recipe selling more often than the crafted? and has the crafted sold lately? plus how many are on the market vs how many bids there are.

The last niche I ran with net me about 500 mil in 4 days....then I let others know when I was done and immediately disappeared.

Time to get back into the money making business, it's time to trick out a new toon :-p

I had a decent niche going last week...about 5m profit per crafted IO, but high volume, like 2-3 per day. Now that niche is completely blown with 50+ for sale and prices down towards 1m. Unfortunately, I still have about 6 crafted ones in my base. I'm gonna have to sit on them for a few weeks and hope some people give up...

Was that those Devastation IOs, Stillhart? I loved that. Buy for a half mill, post for four, sell for six. Now there are a ton for sale.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

Nope, IIRC it was Titanium Coating: Resist. But I've found several of those 5m-crafted niches...they tend to last for about a week and then disappear. I keep an eye on them to see if they come back.

Long-time marketeers, do they tend to get cyclical or do they just close up until the next market shakeup?

I wish people would be smart and not list 10 at a time. I really don't think that 40 people joined the niche selling 1 at a time. You got 4 people joining selling 10 at a time and dropping the prices too quickly. Impatience again. *rolls eyes*

Yes, yes, there are. I'm trying to be veeeeeery patient to offload the last of my inventory of them without taking a loss now.

My red side niche is still going, slowed down with the recipes drying out and price going up 10x (still getting a few at the low price). Paid for almost all my Crabs IO sets, some buys are still outstanding.

blue side I am working on my 2nd ebil now.

This is why I remain hesitant to enter the uncommon/rare IO market in favor of crafting oodles of common IOs for a modest but safe profit. The profit margin might potentially be much higher with Obliterations or Touch of Deaths but I just know the second I stock up the bottom will fall out from under me.

So I stick with my little common IO niche, craft 40 of 'em a day and bring in 7-8mil daily. The 200k profit per market slot is teeny compared to the typical flipping stories here but it adds up and its just about the most risk-free investment you can find.

The problem with crafting 40 per day and filling up slots on multiple characters (for me) is just that it's SO time consuming. I can make that selling 2 crafted IO's per day, which I have been doing pretty regularly. There's more risk, but the reward vs time spent is much better suited to my time-limited play style.

So yeah, I craft like 10 at a time at most to limit my exposure to niche risk (if I may call it that), knowing that it'll only take 3 sales or less to make back the cost of all 10. After that, everything is gravy so if my niche collapses I'm not really screwed, just annoyed.

10? You people are crazy.

I think I'm being risky if I craft TWO of the same thing.

[/ QUOTE ]
Well I said "at most" :P I generally only do 10 if it's something that crafts for ~1m and sells for ~3-5m. 10m to craft 10, ~3 sold to recoup the loss. For more expensive stuff, I definitely don't even buy more than 1 recipe at a time.

Also note, I only ever post ONE AT A TIME. The rest sit in my base until one sells. This way I'm not flooding the market and screwing myself. I'm pretty sure other people are flooding the market themselves with some of these and that's just ridiculous.

I think the best idea i've had so far came from me "pre-ordering" some recipe sets for a future dual build I had in mind. Once all of those filled (i went greedy and put in a order of 10), I crafted 5 and sold 5...sometimes I hit a nice niche were I'll re-order the sets and sell all 10 again. Basically what it does is that I eventually get extra cash or break even but I still have all my IOs sitting to slot in the base.

My current dried-up but still have sets to slot niche is Numinas. I enjoyed the windfall a bit too much and spent unfortunately most of my earnings on my private SG base.

Well volume selling is rather inefficient if you only do it 2 at a time. Make sure you get something that WILL sell OFTEN.

Get two highly turned over IOs, buy 10 recipes of each. Craft 10 of the first recipe and put 5 in your base, then craft 5 of the second recipe and put them in your base, then craft the other 5 of the second recipe and go list 5 of each for sale.

Sign on the next day, or later that day and get your influence, head to your base to pick up the other 10 IOs. Go sell them and put in bids for more.

For example - numina heal IOs are always selling, so are efficacy adapters.

I don't do a ton of crafting-for-profit, but I'm with Ful here.
I learned a hard lesson about being VERY CAREFUL with your stock levels, the kind that sticks with you.

I did this kind of thing last year for a few weeks. I believe I did about 15 of them. I am trying to remember what it was. I know it was a pool C with a triple aspect. The salvage and recipes and crafting ran me arounf 4M total and I was selling them for 8M.

But in the end it just wasn't the kind of thing I want to do.

Now I seem to average about 1-2 million per level just selling my drops and I don't have to do anything.

Ah the "good old" days before inventions and the markets when affording my SOs at 22 without a sugar daddy was out of the question. I hope they rot in hell.

total kick to the gut

I only craft in stacks of five these days.

Waaay too many market toons now to manage stacks of ten and it's cost me valuable time which has resulted in quite a few missed opportunities. Missed for maximum profit margins, that is.

Once I consolidate to three main marketeers then I'll go with stacks of 10 again for non-purples.
