What and/or Who was /jranger?

jranger was a poster infamous for answering nigh ANY thread with the single word answer "no". no explanation, etc.

It became so common, other posters adopted "/jranger" as a trendy to say "no" while also implying the topic wasn't worthy of further discussion.

Mod8 made a thread about not using such responses, so now we can only use it as part of a longer post supporting or refuting an idea (mainly in S&I). I can't find that thread now, though.

Another poster who became infamous in a different way is "power" who is known for incoherent "suggestions" that are pretty hard to follow due to a nigh complete lack of grammar and spell-checking. We can't use his name to ridicule posts/threads either, but we did for a while with "/power" meaning basically "huh?!"

It's in the announcement section. Use of /*name* in posts

There was a person trying to imitate jranger. The person was called kranger and said yes to every post instead of no. Somehow, kranger was not quite successful in setting up a trend. Probably, it's a lot more fun saying no than yes.

Oh, that's where it is.

I was looking in S&I and City Life for it since that's where "/jranger" was used most.

Every so often, there's a post that really seems to deserve a /jpoweranger - one of those that makes you react with "Really not sure what you are saying, but pretty sure it's something so bad it just deserves a NO".

As a huge fan of JRanger, I still believe the forums are less entertaining with no JRanger. However, I never knew JRanger was so cute. Google Search Link!

VIVA JRANGER!

[/ QUOTE ] This. The little Mudkip was funny. He got banned though(well, one account did anyways).

Generally when questioned about his "no"-ness on certain things, he would put out a very well-written explanation. Sometimes though, "no" is all that needs to be said.

Just to let you know, I linked that earlier and it got deleted.

"the reason there are so many sarcastic pvpers is we already had a better version of pvp taken away from us to appease bad players. Back then we chuckled at how bad players came here and whined. If we knew that was the actual voice devs would listen to instead of informed, educated players we probably would have been bigger dicks back then." -ConFlict

Yep

Cause it's always funny to mess with people, right?

It wasn't funny. He deserved the ban.

There is no such thing as an "innocent bystander"

That's the thing though, HE wasn't the one messing with people. He was reacting too much, yes, but he didn't *start* the crap with those guys, he simply said "no" and they went ballistic. There was a LOT of "no" "ballistic" that week, believe me, but most of it made sense while I was watching.

Now, he'd said some OTHER extremely unattractive things, which was more or less what did get the banstick deservedly.

Heck I had a quote from him about magic versus something... it was a while ago, in my sig. Just kind of to prove that he DID say things other than "no".
