None of them are of the pic Torak used for his avatar, but that's most definately the guy in question.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm afraid I have to disagree. I remember his avatar quite vividly, and I cannot say that this guy is the one in Torak's avatar at all. He has the beard, yes, though not really the hair, however his face is completely different from what I remember. I could be wrong, of course, but I'm more sure about this than I am when I state things as facts most of the time.

[/ QUOTE ]

For some reason I was pretty sure that avatar was from an Italian sci-fi film where the guy starts off as just a freight pilot, gets zapped with some rays and ends up turned into a Solomon Grundy-style character.

I thought it was from "The Humanoids" but Google has turned up nothing that resembles that picture.

I've been around the block, and Lighthouse was worse at his job than many of the volunteer moderators that other websites have.

[/ QUOTE ]

GOD yes. I sent him one too many "you are an idiot who is bad at his job because" messages and he stopped reading anything I sent him after that.

Part of me wants to pass comment here. Part of me is speechless. ;-)

I think it has been nice seeing a large number of old names return.

Oh and my favourite poster was Pilcrow and that awesome avatar of his. It was of Dick Van [censored] dancing with the penguins from Mary Poppins but his head was replaced with Jesus. He had that avatar for like 2-3 years before it was mysteriously deemed inappropriate and they forced him to take it down.

[/ QUOTE ]

I also miss Pilcrow. And that avatar made me chuckle every time I saw it.

I still have that avatar saved somewhere. Makes me laugh every time I look at it. Also, Pilcrow was "the first" to discuss the idea of diminishing returns re: enhancements, and his post was until very recently still available.

As for Taser, it didn't help that he called LH out on the boards and stated in big Hollywood letters more or less, "Listen Alex, this town ain't big enough for the two of us. It's either you or me." I had something like the second or third post after he said that, and I seem to recall (though I could be completely wrong, age is like that) saying something to the effect of, "Right on, Taze! Nice knowing you!"

I'm not defending him, it was expressly obvious what was going on, and what would be no longer tolerated. But as I said in a wayback discussion about Taze's bannination, "Okay, fine, he was a troll--but he was our troll."

As I posted earlier in this thread--I miss everyone who has gone. Some folks just post once or twice, "Why can't I have a cape?" or "Unnerf Smoke Grenade!" Some folks post more, a little strategy, a guide maybe. And some folks post a whole lot, and you remember them. Our little community's own dysfunctional family, brought together by a fictional game where we wear tights and do great deeds.

I try and keep my useful posts/total posts ratio above 50%, and I hope that if I someday disappear, that people think of me in a slightly positive fashion.

Ah, who am I kidding?

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

I remember standing shoulder to shoulder with Ohms_ in the blaster forum taking on the likes of AnarchicGorrilla as he attempted to prove with numbers that blasters were over-powered.

I've never had the attention span to participate in a real flamewar most of the time. If I did, I'd probably end up arguing with myself.

I miss MZZ_Torak too. And yeah, that's not him. Just outta curiosity I googled and found him on Steam.

This is him.

[/ QUOTE ]It's uncanny. Every once in a while I idly wonder, "Just what ever did happen to Ohms_? I never see him post anymore," and then just a couple of days later I randomly run across a recent post of yours.

Those were fun times though.

Cool! This is indeed Torak, in his later Avatar. Thanks for the find!

The irony is that once the Blaster AT finally got the attention it needed, I sort of lost interest in playing the game (the one in-game or the one on the forums). I felt like an old warhorse after the war had been won, ya know? Didn't play much over the last year or so. I15, and a couple character concepts, brought me back, though mostly just in-game. The first char I ran all the way up upon my return... an Arch/Mind Ranger. Quite fun. Still say RoA is the best "nuke" evah =)

I miss Crabain, or was it Craban, not sure. His posts were surreal.

I drift away now and then (was gone for almost 8 months playing WAR recently) but I don't post enough for folks to miss me. It always feels like coming home when I come back to CoX and these forums.

I enjoy a good heated debate. I also look back on the fights I had in grade school with nostalgia and I didn't always win those. Maybe we are just weird that way but yeah. It's fun to argue serious matters once and a while. I remember being involved in a big discussion about Homosexuality once. I don't remember the specifics of the argument but it was fun debating.

It's kinda strange really. The heated discussions we would have about off Topic things were tame to some of the heated discussions and arguing we have over the on topic stuff. It seems odd that we get more vehement about stuff that doesn't matter as much.

I stands corrected. No wonder I crapped out finding the thread that shall never be deleted. I'd almost given up hope that it hadn't, in fact, been deleted.

I wasn't really aware of the original UD phenom when it was happening, but I am kind of nostalgic for UD's brief and anticlimactic return to the forums years later.
