Something I miss about the olden days...

Torak also had an avatar reminiscent of WarCraft III's Muradin and was a generally memorable and very pleasant character. I do wish he'd stuck around.

I believe that avatar was Jim Duggan, who was a wrestler in the 80's and early 90's.

It was? Didn't he say that was him? I remember he even changed it to a newer picture of the same guy at one point. Can't seem to find his old avatar, as his account page seems to have lost its pic. Think you can find a pick of this wrestler dude so we can compare memories?

Didn't his Avatar have those creepy flashing eyes?

If by creepy you mean awesome, he sure did!
total kick to the gut
This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.
Yeah... the "you ruined it" pretty much summed it up.
I've been here for, well... a while now.
I miss some of the off-topic arguments that used to happen here. The rule has always been no politics, no religion, but often, back in the days of Cuppajo, they would rage for pages and pages and pages. I remember squabbling (quite fiercely) with the likes of Kalimagdalene over whether or not "GLBT Only" SGs were a good idea. |
So yeah, while I've had some good exchanges with you, that was one of the worst.
I don't want to restart the discussion, but I wanted to lay that out. If you have any questions, pm's available.
* That comment's not about you, Liv.

It was a whim!
I was jonesing for superhero action.

I miss Pilcrow. Especially Pilcrow's first avatar, which later got removed for... something, I forget what.
I miss craban's surreal posts. I think what made them non-annoying was that the surreal parts had nothing to do with the game, but were masterpieces of creative writing in general, and when he did talk about the game, he proved to be erudite and friendly.
I'm also missing Sam Tow's red-and-white Z avatar thingie. Put it back, Sam.

Pilcrow's avatar was removed because it was potentially offensive? I forgot - I liked it. And yeah, miss him. Also miss Craban.
I will say it, although people have harshly criticized CuppaJo in this thread - I miss her. While people believe she didn't do all that much moderating, I have to disagree and say she did more than people think. She let some people slide on some stuff, but at least she didn't give sexism a pass (unlike Lighthouse on at least a couple of occasions).
I haven't really been back long enough to see who else isn't around atm.

Over on the Tech forum I miss Shego. Her belittlement of player's hardware while they were simply seeking solutions to non hardware problems had a comfortable predictability, much like that neighbor that always flips you off when you wave and say 'good morning'.

It was **** Van **** with Jesus' face superimposed.
This was mentioned earlier in the thread, iirc.
I'm just looking at the censoring there and shaking my head.

I'd forgotten this thread existed.
Lighthouse was as arbitrary as Cuppa was, don't be mistaken. Moreover, he got personal with the posters, to the point where if he decided that he didn't like someone he'd hunt them down and mod/delete/lock anything those people had to say... trust me. |
It just recently occurred to me that he probably thought I was a sockpuppet for LaserJudas. It'd be pretty sad if we were the same person, as both of our post counts are rather high. That'd be some epic sockpuppeting.

I wasn't really aware of the original UD phenom when it was happening, but I am kind of nostalgic for UD's brief and anticlimactic return to the forums years later. |
(Man I should have been following this thread, now I'm quoting 3 people at once.)
Then why the hell are my 80 different avatars over the years considered fine?

Oh I know that for sure. When Lighthouse was around, my threads would just magically disappear. Best part, I couldn't think of a time where I ever did anything to annoy him. Also, I freakin' miss the old smilies. The new tongue smiley looks too much like a little kid who's teasing someone. The old one looked more like a reaction to something stupid, which entertained me far more.
ProcessedMeatMan still has the most offensive forum avatar without any Mods realising it
That's quite possible. It still continues to surprise me that I haven't gotten a smackdown for my name/avatar on the forums or in game.
