Thank goodness! What kind of unimaginitive twit would spend any influence at all on a name? Especially a lame name like that? If it was really clever or funny . . . I still wouldn't pay for it.
To me, the whole point of a name is for it to be something clever or funny that I came up with. I have a bunch of them that I'm kind of proud of and have gotten comments on.
LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

Spot on. No matter how good a name somebody offered me, it just wouldn't be the same.
Also, drug references aren't especially clever.
"Radiant Illusions", hmmmm... on Champion you say? Maybe if it was on Freedom, I'd be impressed that you even got the name because this would seem to imply that you were one of the first to ever create an Ill/Rad and on a high-pop server, this may even mean something. 
As for me, I'd rather validate my creativity by having a name that *I* came up with for my character and it won't matter how lame some may think that name may be.
Just for reference, I have a Lv50 Ill/Rad on Pinnacle called Phantom Silhouette which I personally estimate as being about 1.5 billion times cooler than "Radiant Illusions".
I believe that a Kheldian Gold Standard should be based on SO's, and for anything above that... there's Platinum!

Seems like a fine idea to me, OP. There will always be people who react violently to any suggestion that ideas have monetary value like anything else, so don't take it personally. OTOH, that particular name doesn't grab me, so I think the price is unreasonable.

Hmmm... I have Sin, Villainess, Fatal, & Eternal, all on several servers! I used to have Incognito before they nerfed that name in Issue 2.

Well, as far as creativity goes, I have the names Atomic Vision and Jade Genesis for my 2 ill/rad's. Also, Shining Emerald for an emp/rad, so I think I'm doing pretty well in the naming category. *pats own back*

I tend to go for names that I find amusing somehow, usually because of a pun.
My Shield scrapper is "Bull Shield." I wish that one of the symbols I could put on the shield was a Longhorn, but I had to make do with a Bulls-Eye. His Tanker friend is "Shield Happens."
I have an Egyptian-themed Kin/Elec, who drains force from his foes, stores it and then expells it as electrical energy. He is "Sultan Battery" (say it out loud).
An entertainer for the French Foreign Legion uses both illusions and fancy archery to keep the troops amused. His name is "Beau Jester."
