I didn't realize people didn't realize it was his character art on a Mucha background. I thought that was the entire point of his piece.

So my vote doesn't change, because I was voting for how awesome he integrated his character work into an existing piece.... which was what I felt was the spirit of the theme. Its why my voting was torn between Projectionist and Tacky_Tricky.

That said, I guess it should have been mentioned, since a good number of people didn't catch it.

I like ImagesByAlex's recreation of "Nymphes et Satyre".

Or for TT to just say "Yup, that's where I got 'em from. Sorry I didn't mention it previously"

This is not the most serous of competitions. There's no money up for grabs. We're all working on the honor system here... ot to mention the 'friendship system'. I think someone calling out a piece is fine, so long as it is done with the right intention.

If I knew more about that art, I might have sent TT a msg and mentioned to him to post up his references. Once out though, I think it's simply a matter of saying 'Yeah, I got it from there. Sorry al, the main focus was my character and I didn't think much beyond that'.

Projectionist it looks like TA did the same to mine, you can read the concept behind my piece and disclosure of the use of a screenshot HERE

I vote for Crestent!

I hope everyone looked at the entry next to the piece that it was a recreation of because that's when you can see how each piece really shined. Could have done with a smaller source file Crest!

I think Crest took on an ambitious piece with so many figures, but the fact that he made Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr into Goat Lords was a stroke of genuis, and their expressions are nothing short of priceless! Comparing these two side by side, there's not question he put a lot of thought and effort into this piece, and got it in pretty close to the deadline as well.

Have to give Toxic Shia some love as well, the Last Supper is no easy piece to recreate and it's packed full of gems and in jokes. While he tweaked there poses a bit it's still obviuos what this piece is suppose to be.

Projectionists was pretty dead on, I'm just wondering how it's possible for Melanie to just sit still, that girl is crazy! I think maybe making the Family guy not a mobster like the original and maybe making the soda Jerk Doc Aeon or someone else would have pushed this piece full into the Cov realm. Since you did such a nice piece I'll nitpick that the arachnos soldier would have a shadow I think you can see it in the Hopper original. OH and Clockwork King coffee things on the counter!

Lousy DAy also did a really nice piece, very painterly. I think both you and Juggs lost a great opportunity to have the god figure supported by a bunch of sexy Valkeyres or at least Sassy like how God is supported by the angels in the original! I think it's funny that Tartarsause ommitted a god and kept the ladies, a man after my own heart!

Ah Foo, the only comic recreation in the bunch, not sure why you decided to change the layout, the original is pretty sweet and iconic, you kept the cost of the book, but left out the number and date, and cropped the car(nice choice of modernizing it to a vw bug by the way).

John_Printemps, I think I had a Thomas Crown moment with yours as well. Maybe using an in game screenshot would tie it more to CoX or the war wall would be a nice touch. Magritte was a great inspiration for your piece.

Aprosaath, you got that pose down and you get the best use of the Nemesis Staff prize. I think it would have been very cool to dress TA as a Fool with the jester mask and neck piece.

Tricky Tacky's piece was problematic as it didn't look anything like his source file, except for the circle which it seems is from two totally different piece done by Mucha. The pose of his figure, which is nicely done, is also different from the Mucha, and looks more like the pose he used for his VS entry last month.

Oh Milk, I saved you for last, I made your piece into an animated gif and it brings me joy every time that bouquet flies! I think if you posed him the same as Banksy, we could get a nice three quarters view of your cool character.

Aw, man. I totally feel bad that I forgot about Milk's piece, despite having thought it was very charming.

I feel such a cad. ;_;

Where did he cut and paste the border from?

From these two:

I didn't read anywhere that cut paste wasn't allowed, just not very original IMO.

Ah. Personally, I have no problem with it in the spirit of the competition, but the end result was that the nice character art didn't blend well with the background which is why I ultimately chose Projectionist's. A little work in photoshop could fix that problem up.

Hey, thanks Alex! You know, I thought of trying to do T.A.'s armor all in hi-key - so that it was basically white with just hints of shading - and I seriously considered changing the visor into the more Jester-looking one from the game, but somehow I was just too a-feared of changing him too much.

One of the things that I like about yours and most of the others is how you did pieces with several characters - especially specific people's characters. Thats cool!

You know, I hadn't even thought of the war wall. That could've easily worked over a "stormy sky" and been tons easier o_o; But of course I had to do the more complicated one

If Alex says I should look at the source file, then I should ... I gave up the first time because of the size and .. again this time ... (just wouldn't load, no idea why)

I looked up another. I think I got the right one, but in a more reasonable file size.

I had only looked at your drawing. I didn't read the description. Now with the source file and the description ... this must have been a beast to do. I love the Goat Lords too ... hehe ... and the facial expressions are right on! (Hmmm that sounds like what Alex said ... hmmm ... so ... I agree with Alex!)

I'm going to have to vote for Crestent. I thought he mirrored the original piece and interpreted it very well. Alex was a close second, I loved his reinterpretation. I thought everyone did a fantastic job this month. It's great to see everyone step up their game so to speak.

Cool contest, nice work everyone! I vote for * ImagesByAlex's recreation of "Nymphes et Satyre" by William Bouguereau, the idea of the toons dragging him from his work into Paragon was a cool idea to me. Second to * Tacky_Tricky's recreation of "Pequenas" by Alphonso Mucha, I really liked the texture and colours.

I pick Aprosaath's it was a very lulzy rendition of the art piece.

Runner up would be Toxic-Shia because i really like the twist.
