Time to share some ignorance!

I dunno what a better term would be. 'Intolerance' would fit the OP's situation far better then ignorance, but I'm not entirely sure that he's asking for similar situations as that tends to come up far less often (in my experience) in this game then in some others. Some people that do use the term 'gay' do so out of ignorance of it's meaning. But as stated before, it's pretty clear that the OP's team leader understood what the term meant and chose to discriminate based on that fact.

It sucks, but it happens. It was handled correctly riiight up until this forum post. Which was probably a little out of line, and possibly a little petty at the same time. Not that there's anything really wrong with that, because at some point we're all guilty of similar failings... But! It's still worth pointing out it's kind of a dick move.

you're right foxy, the term can be used in a ignorant manner, if i had nickle for everytime a kiddie called me it gay for backstabbing him as a spy...but you covered my point and i refuse to be redundant

I more piggy-backed off your post, really, and expanded onto it. >.> So it's at least partially redundant if it makes you feel better.

Y'know, I wrote a post about the amusement I find in the way gays bait people for this sort of thing, but I realized it was pointless, and started writing again...

Then I wrote a post about how what you do is in clear violation of human anatomy, and thus very abnormal on an incredable scale, but I forgot that science and logic have no place in the world of "Tolerance", and once more began re-wrting the post...

So here I am, sharing my opinion, which will no doubt be shredded in a hail of counter-posts and scorched in the heat of flaming, dissassebled and rebuilt as another reason for gays to whine, because human beings who hold true to our instinctive need to preserve the species have been branded as bigots for wanting to protect that. I leave you with this to think about:

Just think, making homosexuality "normal" will open the floodgates. Soon enough people will cry foul over beastiality, pedophilia, and all sorts of "normal" lifestyles.

A few things to say about this post...

#1) I agree

#2) She told me she was 18.

#3) If I could I would marry my St. Bernard. She's beautiful, she licks me, and she doesn't complain about me not taking out the trash.

and...

#4) IBTL

no one ever kicks me or shia when shia chases me around team chat with a strap on chainsaw and we often go out of our way to explain shia is a dock worker that enjoys wearing short shorts and im a lonely awkward forumite dying for attention because of repressed daddy issues ....actually once I start explaining they usually just ask us to go back to flirting and killing things ........

I've noticed that most men have trouble accepting male homosexuals, but are perfectly fine with the opposite gender practicing that particular thing.

Women are less often symptomatic of the reverse.

Kind of weird, no?

While the kicking was wrong, I don't tend to RP in non-RP teams. The issue doesn't come up if you don't RP when on a team that's just together to do missions.

I was nearly kicked off a TF because my male character wears pink, though. (He's a hippy, and pink, purple and hearts were all the rage for men in the sixties.)

The guy kicking people in the OP's post sounds like a 16 year old male, who are the most susceptible to that kind of reaction, due to struggling with their own burgeoning gender issues.

I was once on a team where something 'not quite similar' but still similar enough to warrant me telling ya'll about it here happened.

We were going through a team, and one of the members mentioned he was going tomorrow to see a sonogram of his baby. Everyone in the team responded with things like 'Good for you!' 'Congratulations' ect... Then the team leader started typing in caps. Saying something to the effect of 'OMG WTF YOU GUYS! STOP BEING SARCASTIC OR I'LL <bleeping> KICK YOU FROM THE TEAM, THIS ISN'T SOMETHING YOU SHOULD BE SARCASTIC ABOUT!' ....When we all explained we weren't being sarcastic, instead of apologizing he just tossed the blame back on us with some comment 'Well that was for those who were being sarcastic, seriously it's not something to joke about!'
(Obviously my spelling is alot better than his)
Anyway.. he had to pass the star to someone else to invite someone and he was promptly kicked...
(I had no say in that matter)

It's like kicking someone because of their religious beliefs, political ideals, or favorite color.

It ain't normal; never will be. Just another fetish, less creepy than some and more creepy than others.

That aside, more people need to realize that PDAs (public displays of affection) make many folk uncomfortable, regardless of their personal tastes.

Being stuck on a bus behind a couple making out, while you're single or just after breaking up, is an unpleasant experience. Keep the romance (or bromance) to private chat. No matter how cute you think you are, you're more likely to hurt someone's feelings than have any positive effect.

Unless it really is all about showing off. In which case, you're an insensitive jerk, and should be Gone to the Americans.

It's actually quite common even outside of the world of humans. It's not like we invented it, or are unique. And to say it's not natural is a stretch. Normal? Hard to say. What's normal, really?

I am not an animal. I do not engage in cannibalism and incest. I do not take my behavioral cues from the mindless ant that will march in circles to its death, nor the shark that eats its own kind when frenzied. The natural law of mankind takes little to nothing from animals.

I think the point is that it's an aberrant form of behavior from any logical standpoint, but it's one that's prevalent in more then just the sentient species, which tends to suggest it's caused by something deeper then just the thinky parts of your brain.

Maybe it's genetic. Maybe it's chemical. Maybe it's not any one thing, but a mix of everything at once. Maybe with enough of one thing, you can make a solid choice to do one or the other, or both if you're a freak and roll that way.

I'd say it's a stretch to call it 'normal' reproductive behavior, but there's more behaviors then just reproductive. Clearly there's something there we're just plain missing that needs to be looked into, as well.

But, I'm not going to over-analyze it. I'm happy with my cuddly girl, and hell what the rest of you people think. If one thing I'm gonna do is piss you off, my romantic preferences will probably be the least likely.

Now, are you actually a scientist? Because, even I, whose scientific field is not biological, but historical in nature, can rip this apart.

1) You are an animal. Specifically:

Domain - Eukarya
Kingdom - Animalia
Phylum - Chordata
Class - Mammalia
Order - Primates
Family - Hominidae
Genus - H0mo (it censors the real word? Jeez.)
Species - Sapien (sapien. We get a second one to distinguish several differences between us and "early" man)

2) You are not a cannibal because your life does not depend on it, whereas in the jungle, prairie, or arctic, your next meal could be your last. Don't confuse our cultural disdain for it with a biological mechanism that prevents it. If you are hungry enough, you CAN (and WILL) eat another human. People would rather eat people than starve (there is some evidence to suggest that, in extreme cases, people develop fugue-like states to help deal, psychologically, with it).

2.5) Don't confuse LARGE POPULATION with a "ew, incest is wrong" mentality. Any population of animal that gets beyond a certain point will naturally shy away from incest. Much like the previous food argument... you've never been in a situation that called for it. Every organism has its breaking point.

3) You go to work, don't you? How you kill yourself is just a detail. You ARE a social monkey, and YOU DO follow rote behavior to fit in with our SOCIAL MONKEY SOCIETAL NORMS.

4) There is no natural law for mankind, nor the animals. It is a delicate set of balances that humans are both victims of, and a part of. We think we have mastered such things; it is our prime ignorance.

Now that I'm done:

Straight people have anal sex, too.

Yay.

This post will be locked aaaaany moment.

This statement has been patently proven wrong in EVERY SITUATION. Loving someone of the same sex does not lead to screwing an animal.

I mean, if it did, some of my gay friends would have much happier cats.
