Frustrated at the terrible skill level of players.

Almost all that information already IS in the game. There IS a "help" tab in your menu. It's reasonably complete for the basics, and anything else ... well, likely too specific to worry about putting in until someone sees a huge need.

"Recommendations on how to not screw up a good pick up group" is not in the game. That comes with "common sense".

How about fighting tactics? Such as "Target through the tank" or "Let the tank get agro first"

Bah, just tell people to read this.

Well yeah, I do tend to be a bit loud.

But you know how much I add "hehehe" to things in chat?

I do that in real life too.

[/ QUOTE ]

You carry a sign around with you that says "hehehe"?

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually I say "hee hee hee" a lot If I had a sign, I'd use it too.

>_> Then again I wanted to play a Sims character for Halloween one year, complete with a needs slider made from a bingo card but I couldn't get the mylar balloon thing to work right for over my head. I was even trying to become fluent in Simese.

[/ QUOTE ] Is that even possible? I thought it was just random jibberish.

No, it's not - though the language changed dramatically between Sims 1 and 2. :/ They expanded it a lot in 2, I don't know what they're doing with 3.

Let me clarify: you could hold a conversation using the same 'words', their expressions of disbelief and distaste, humor and such were all pretty much the same through the game. More like, I was trying to memorize the script. It was *hard*.

And having seen the outtakes that the actors did while recording them, I know it was hard for everyone

I'm ready for Sims 3. I really want that game. There is a leaked copy going around, but I can't bring myself to download it.

I think I saw an ad, but it looked *exactly* like 2. Are they using basically the same graphics? Because the graphics difference between 1 and 2 was massive, obviously, so I can't really see much more evolving to be done.

I usually only step into Sims when I want to design a house, lol. I own all the original 1, and about 3 of the sims 2 products before I realized "i don't really play this game nearly enough to warrant this much spending on it..."

I did however manage one time to reinstall 1 *over all my downloads* which it *deletes* to make a new directory tree when reinstalling.

40 THOUSAND files. Over 2 years of collecting items and outfits online... gone. I so cried.

they need to do a Sims Alpha Centauri. I'm sure a ton of people would go for it.

Laugh at them, kick them while they are down, and then post about how much we hate newbies on the forums!

Stupid newbies. I bet they farmed to 50 because in ye olde days before the MA all level 50 characters knew how to play.

I don't think this is a difficult game to pick up, but it is a difficult game to master - if that makes sense? I had to explain some stuff about IO set bonuses to a friend recently, and he's been playing for a while.

[/ QUOTE ]

That I have to agree with. It's fairly easy to pick a character up learn to play it at least relatively competently in a short amount of time, though I still think handing a brand new player a combat level 50, character level 1 character would be a disaster. But the thing is that most of the veteran players would never settle for "relatively competent." They expect people will be good at fighting deep purples with optimised builds, know their place, uphold their roles and instinctively assume what they're supposed to do. I've seen more than a few instances of people being chastised for not knowing how to speed-run an ITF, for instance, and that's before we even get into the "offender vs. healer" debates. Hell, I think I have reasonably competent builds who can handle most anything solo on Tenacious and I've been on the receiving end of this because I don't have Stamina, need to rest and don't measure up to the other optimised 50s.

This is not a hard game to pick up, but just picking it up and being reasonably competent has never seemed like enough, judging by other people's demanding standards.

Reminds me of Chess, I started playing that at 10 and picked it up easy. Got my butt handed to me by my private tutor in High School when he learned I played.

One that's even easier to grasp but harder to master would be Go, which I learned about thanks to it being on ye olde timey Gameboy as Spot (you remember him? The old 7up mascot?). Fun game but DANG is it a tough one to master. The tournament games can last several days!
