What is the goal of Cimerora?

I've scoured over the ParagonWiki and I still don't see anything noteworthy about Cimerora. Once you are introduced to Marcus it seems he becoms a broker type contact with repeatable missions etc. Getting Kindred doesn't seem to offer any extra goodies etc. There don't seem to be any easter eggs or any reason once you get the exploration badge and the Centurion badge to stay.

So is this just a conduit for more levels aside from typical contacts?

In RWZ I've been getting my merits to unlock the Uniform parts and the Psionic Shield. Eventually I will work on the Rikti Invasion badges for my Pulse Rifle customization. The Centurion costume pieces are vet rewards from what I understand so theres nothing really extra in Cimerora from what I can tell.

You already know about the repeatable missions. So:-

ParagonWiki on Cimerora

Cimerora is primarily a vehicle for the Imperious Task Force (ITF).

Why is the ITF popular? It's short, pretty cool, and the enemies drop magic salvage (which at one point was in shorter supply and thus more expensive on the market).

Also, there are only two co-op TF/SFs in the game. ITF is shorter than LGTF and is easier to start - much lower minimum requirements.

Please note the Roman costume options - armor, weaponry, shields, etc, are not Veteran rewards. They're rewards gained from the ITF. You'll get the basic Roman armor and some weapon options by completing ITF once. Some of the others may require multiple playthroughs.

The zone also has two regular contacts, Daedalus (for heroes) and Sister Airlia (for villains) were added. Each of them has a couple of story arcs, though in practice the four arcs are somewhat intertwined.

Finally, it's quite profitable for players to kill the level 50 Roman mobs in the zone, as they come in large groups that are easy to find - the so-called 'hitting the walls'. This is not difficult for a properly outfitted solo character.

So. Really. Most people don't care about the co-op missions and the story arcs in the zone. But Cim is a popular place to go because of the ITF and the aforementioned wall hunting. Both the ITF and the wall runs are viewed as giving good rewards per time spent.

Well thank you for the information and the correction. I could have swore I read that they were vet rewards. If they are the TF rewards then that is something to work towards as well.

There are two swords, two or three axes, and some shields (no idea how many) tied to the Centurion badge for defeating 100 Cimeroran traitors. The armor tied to the badge for completing the ITF. There are two broadswords and two shields for defeating Romulus - one of each for one defeat, and the others for five defeats. None of these are available by any other means.

Cimerora is a story oriented zone. It lightly touches on the stories started in Ouroboros and the Midnighter Club, and also seems related to the return of the Fifth Column - expect the new stuff in i15 to be connected to the happenings in Cimerora, or at least to reference them.

Cimerora's two story arc contacts, Sister Airlia and Daedalus, were added in Issue 13. Meaning the devs added more stuff to the zone after its initial launch. Mercedes Sheldon and her story arcs were also added to the Midnighter Club in I13.

As such, it's possible that we'll continue to see stuff added to both areas.

Those new story arcs are really quite good, too. Plus the new maps are very pretty.

Which is why I find the actual zone underwhelming. I was disaponted when I decided to explore Cimerora only to realise how small it is, and the wall loses a lot of its grandeur once you know that there is nothing behind it.

It doesn't feel like a place. It feels like a film set.

there were many theories that said that's exactly how we're meant to feel.

I still think it's all fake and set up by the 5th to distract us from their actual goals.(not REALLY, but kindof... heh)

great theory. After all, you can't get there with a normal Ouroboros portal...

Cimerora also has the only map where your character can swim under water, has one of the best day job powers (+3resistance to all) and half of the best day job accolade -- Time Lord (the other half is getting the oroborus day job.

Time Lord grants 10% recharge and resistance to slows and teleport.
