I'm totally new and naive in the ways of doms myself. Most of my toons have been melee or long-range hover blasters. However, I've recently gotten a fire/fire dom up to lvl 32, and I can't say enough good things about her (name is Burnt Our Baby, and she's on Virtue redside). The new universal damage kb->kd proc is amazing in bonfire, even after the quite understandable nerfing. Imps are wonderful. Flashfire is huge fun.
As far as I can tell, being a fire/fire dom is all about creating a chaotic flaming pit of doom around your opponents where everyone is choking, fleeing, bouncing, burning, and falling over dead. There may be more elegant ways to operate, but I doubt that there are more entertaining ones. As soon as I can add an epic power pool, I'll be going fire/fire/fire.
I'm running redside so I can use Frenzy alignment power which refills the domination bar when used. Plus, I can't imagine how I could run a fire/fire dom in a nice, friendly, wholesome blueside manner. It would take all the fun out of it. -
Quote:I didn't mind those. I disliked the fighting in the water which is something that always seems silly in CoX. We're just as quick and effective in the water as we are on dry land! What?I got fed up saving Marcus, I hate the layout of Cimerora which made an outdoor mission there annoying, and that last mission fighting groups of 8 bosses was so tedious I fell asleep and when I came back I just auto-completed it because I couldn't stand to start over from the beginning.
Oh, and my rogue disliked saving the Cimerorans in the burning town. What the heck does she care about them? -
I got the following from CS stating it is not a bug.

He tried to "help" my stalker by aggroing all the bad guys on the map and bringing them directly to me. Stuck in the wall would have been better.
-
Never Mind! I probably did hit the wrong choice the first time. I just did it with another toon. Bad people died, good people lived, and a band played happy songs.
-
But that's not the one I selected. I can't remember the exact wording, but I picked "Oh no you don't kill them, nasty evil creatures!" And I won (or thought I did), and they sill died.
-
I beat the last Knives of Vengeance boss right after the "30 seconds to go" warning flashed, and I received the system message "You have handled the Knives of Vengeance." However, Sigil and Kadabra Kill still died. Is this supposed to happen? Are they going to die no matter what your character does or how successfully he/she does it?

I'm not a big CoH numbers person, so I thought I'd ask here to make sure I totally understand the various chances of critical hits with MA attack. I've been thinking about this because of the new Scrapper critical hit bonus ATO.
Normal critical hit chances
5% vs. other players, minions, and underlings (7% with catalyzed ATO)
10% vs. all others (14% with catalyzed ATO)
Storm Kick critical hit chances
10% vs. other players, minions, and underlings (14% with catalyzed ATO)
15% vs. all others (21% with catalyzed ATO)
Eagles Claw
15% vs all (21% with catalyzed ATO)
and +33% vs all in attack during the next 2s (+46.2% with catalyzed ATO)
Are these the correct numbers?
And does ECs bonus add to the base critical, say 15%+33% = 48%, or is a 33% greater chance of critical (similar to the ATO), for example 15% * 1.33 = 20%?
Thanks for your patience with my tiny math brain. -
Two thoughts:
1) I actually like low-level toons. They're COX-lite. Often, I have no desire for a hyper-intense incarnate trial with auto-death lurking at every corner. Beating up Hellions in Perez Park can be very relaxing.
2) I may have rescued a dfb-baby earlier today. He was a lvl 24 brute that couldn't kill his own lt-strength double from the Keith Nance arc. I waltzed in with a lvl 19 scrapper (sk'd up to lvl 23) and killed the bad guy in a couple of seconds, while the brute waited outside the mission. Brute was amazed. He had all the fly travel powers and super speed, and not so much in his primary and secondary. I was amazed and came up with an excuse to run far, far away. Mind you, I did like the idea of a scrapper rescuing a brute. -

I've seen no evidence that there is any difference between Primal and Praetorian-origin toons in FW. No one seems to know that my Praetorian-origin ex-Loyalist Responsibility character is from Praetoria. Katie Douglas doesn't even remember that I shopped her to Mother Mayhem.

Thanks for info. I know understand all this a little better and had a great run yesterday. It is a very cool trial.
-
I tried the LFG button. It said there was a 3 minute wait. After 10 minutes, I was still waiting. I remember that there were similar issues using the LFG button for the iTrials.
I guess my real question is, how do I start my own Death from Below trial? That way I don't have to depend on others, I can take some initiative and get one going myself. -
OK, I freely admit at the start of this post that I can be dumber than a box of rocks. How and where does one start the Death from Below trial? Do I just stand in the middle of Atlas and beg for some kind team who understands the trial to include me?
-
I've also seen them a few times, but I can't remember exactly what was going on at the time. I'll keep track in the future.
-
This is the view of my current main, who started in Praetoria. From her point of view, Recluse is at least honest about his views, while Cole and pretty much everything in Praetoria is lies and hypocrisy.
-
Quote:I totally agree. My current main is a Praetorian, and there is no acknowledgment of this in any Redside or Blueside material. It's actually sort of funny, right after arriving from Praetoria my toon goes to Kalinda for a cape mission, and Kalinda tells me about how Arachnos broke me out of jail. Praetoria was/is supposed to be such a big thing for CoX, but no real attempt has been made to retrofit pre-Praetoria content to acknowledge it.The problem?
Once I left and zoned into Redside, I was treated like I'd been there the whole time. No mention is ever made of me being Praetorian.
Also, Raids Suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Quote:I freely admit that I do not have the most high-powered computer. It's a Dell laptop with 4 GB RAM at 2.13 GHz. Most importantly, it does not have a separate video card. However, it does just fine for absolutely everything else in the game. I've done trials, Hami raids, MS raids, etc. Sometimes, I have to move the graphics slider all the way down, but it keeps on plugging along. It is only with the buggy warehouse that I experience massive problems, even while soloing a low to mid-level character. What kind of graphics cards do you have, how much RAM does your computer have and how fast is the CPU? Poor performance can result from many things, and if your machine may not be up to displaying the thousands of objects that are placed in that warehouse.
I have a GTX 9800 that has problems with that map, and I've upgraded to a 460 and have no problems now.
If it's a not a bug, it's poor design, including one map section that requires a very high level of computer performance compared to virtually everything else in the game. -
I'm still having brutal lag problems with the warehouse room that (at least for me) glows very brightly. I know this has been a problem for sometime, and the possibility of a fix has mentioned several times. Is there any effort being made to fix this bug? If it won't or can't be fixed, can those warehouse rooms be removed from missions?
-
I also have this problem, though it's not consistent. Sometimes, the "+" button works, and other times it doesn't.
-
Still not fixed. I just had to leave a mission because it was unplayable. I hope the fix which is "on the way" gets here quickly.
-
I ended up as de facto tank versus Nightstar earlier today with a MA/SR scrapper (no tanks or brutes in the vicinity). It was not a pleasant experience. Still, I'm overall happy with normal softcap, so I'd agree with the majority on this.

I AM NOT ALONE! This had been driving me crazy ever since I first encountered the problem in the Tin Mage TF during the fight with Director 11. I'm basically unable to play the portion of the trial that goes after the pacification grenades.
So, I add my voice to the choir, please, please fix this.
