Recently some one close to me has canceled their account because they are not finding it fun to pvp anymore because very character that they liked has had its benefits for a team taken away. with diminsihing returns the thermals buffs did nothing and thaw did not protect from mezzes so it, the holds from the Controllers and doms only lasted a moment and then they were gone and slows did nothing. And every heal healed for less and less til it did nothing.

i am afraid that all my favorite toons have had the same thing done to them. It got to the point where i deleted some of my favorite ones that could not do anything near what they could have before to try and find something that i would like in a near comparison to them and i can not. I would like nothing more than to have the changes to pvp go away but i know that will not happen so i would agree that i would like to have some constructive thinking with the developers about the way pvp has gone since the changes and what could be done to make it better than what it is now.

Shard echoes the sentiments in the (brilliant) OP.
The Devs need to work with the PvP community.

I recently returned after cancelling after Ish 10.
My brief foray into RV had me shaking my head.
I still had fun. But it was so gimp.

We all know that PvP has been always been an afterthought in City of...
It's shameful.
Superpowered battles are the reason most of us signed up.
However compelling the content may be, pitting one's superpowered character vs. other player's superpowered character is the true test.

I wouldn't begin to understand how to fix the situation, but the dialogue has got to begin between those PvPers still fighting for a decent game and the developers.

Heck... even a roll back to pre Ish 13, with the addition of the PPP changes would seem to be a good start.

I don't envy the task ahead of the Devs to keep this aspect of the game viable, but I hope they address it. And soon!

Spider-Man don't have no movement suppression!
PvP zones should have epic battles between numerous teams of Red and Blue of all ATs!
Not this... stop and go... crap.

I want mah dommy back!

My hats off to you macskull. I lost my patience to type up such long winded posts like yours back in I13 beta.

I agree with everything mac has touched on.

I came back to pvp and I refuse to pvp now until it is fixed.

Hrmm...
I don't think emailing anyone this stuff would solve anything.
I can only imagine the plethora of emails that the Devs receive.

I wonder...
a coupla snail mails might work.
The shock and awe of actual snail mail might cause an actual furor.

I'm willing.

What's really ad about the whole PvP change its, it was directed to the Non-PvPer. They did this in hopes to get more PvErs involved into PvP and failed big time.

But yet, the PvPers are the ones left to deal with the changes, as it didn't effect the PvErs at all.

I used to pvp, not alot but a slight more than casual. But that was before this dreaded ish came out. The only time I pvp'd after that was for Omega Sectors 4 yr anny I believe it was and nothing felt right at all. I hated it and I have not stepped foot back into a zone since and never will unless TS and DR are removed.

I was always under the firm belief that if you mastered the art of not only the pvp aspec, but also w/e AT you built up to be the best at what it does in pvp, it should show and you should most definitly be able to feel proud that you did it. -and not have some noob like me come in and take yah down becuase we are now "on par".

I never complained when I went n2 any zone on my purped out mind/storm troller and was the target of nearly everyone in there. It was actually a compliment of sorts. It meant to me that I, the powers that I chose or my build presented a danger/challenge to some in the zone. i13 changed all of those feelings. The accomplishment of spending ludicrous amounts o inf to get my build "just right", the exhuasted feeling when the spines/reg finally succumbed to my spammed dominate or simply seeing in broadcast to be on the lookout for the stormie in the zone. Team pvp was also great fun. Won't ever do it again I assume unless... Really sad too because I nearly, after about 8 months of playing the market, I nearly had my ss/wp ready to go. Then i13 came and after about 2 days of really trying to like it in test, I gave up.

The only thing positive this new system did for me, is it made me want to try out "new power set combos" to see if maybe they could get me to like i13 pvp. They were all ranged chars. But then the question of why bother? hit me.

Anyways, I appreciate the post Mac as it was a great read and even all the replies to it were great reads. Kinda felt like all the questions I had but wouldn't dare ask because I'm not really one o the more prominent pvpr's. I hope this doesn't seem like incoherent ramblings, it's just what popped up after I read all the posts.

Sadly all this was made known to the devs in I13 closed beta and they still gave us the fuster cluck that is our current pvp system.

Nice post Mac. Read it all, agree with the main points.

The only thing I do like about the changes is not needing a full tray of break free's to play a squishy in the zones.

Honestly the best thing to come of the changes was not having to bring Break Frees with you all the time - but if this is the alternative, I'm not so sure that's a good thing.

Agreed. I am (or was, more accurately) an RP'er who liked to go in for some PvP now and then (yes, we exist!). I was terrible at first, but enjoyed it enough to move from occasional zone PvP to mostly Arena stuff, and to realize the value of a dedicated buffer. I worked hard at making my Kin/Psi Defender, an RP character built to be a "team leader/force multiplier" type, a valuable member of an arena team. I don't think I can say I ever got good at it, but I did get to the point where Festival was getting picked in the first round of Arena League drafts on her home server, sometimes by genuinely good PvP'ers from Old School and similar SGs. Most importantly, I enjoyed it.

No longer. The new PvP is essentially mindless button mashing. It lessens the effectiveness of characters like Festival to the point where they're a liability to a team, not an asset. MMO PvP is never going to be as acutely skill-focused as FPS PvP (where you have to, you know...aim...), but the i13 changes removed a big chunk of what skill requirements there were.

Fail. So very, very fail. It's been months since I've PvP'd...and I don't see that changing any time soon.

I used to PvP around abit for fun, but going into the zones such as siren's and RV I feel that only certain power sets will survive when leaving the base. Maybe it's just me, but I think to PvP you shouldn't *Need* to buy IO's. They should help, but not determine if you are able to pvp or not.
Just sharing my thoughts.
