Solution to city-of-farming angst

i would strongly support the GMs severely reducing the amount of exp/prestige/tickets on all BUT Developers choice AE arcs. City of Farmers, with no one playing the actual game, is sadly what we have become....

[/ QUOTE ]

that is the 1 sure way to gut the MA. There are not enough people willing to wade through your pitiful rp arcs. You are not the great author you think you are. I see the people that get their sg to rate their mission all 5 star and then get a couple of 1 stars and complain. Maybe your stuff really is crap.

My best guess FWIW is that Posi had two goals in mind: 1) that any imbalances in AE be corrected, and 2) that all missions should at least be dressed up in a smidgin of story. But you are free to disagree with me.

This is how I see it as well.

So did they get rid of farming? I ask because I go to Architec to do a couple missions for a change and its empty. On liberty Server. When Architec first came out it was jammed but now very few there if. Probably because you get less exp per hour doing architec missions vs the game missions. Not to mention some dont offer any exp at all and just influence. Whoever makes those inf only missions please put it in description, you scores might be judged higher rather than piss off the people who need exp. Also no drops. I am still looking for a post that explaines how this so called farming (grinding) hurts them. K back to looking. Thanks.

How is it that they get just "influence" to drop? I'm curious on this one.

Translation -- Zwoof took a mission for a lower level, was auto-exemplared, only got Inf as a result, took this as an insult and one starred it. Hooray for misunderstanding

I don't know, never seen that myself....and no, farms haven't gone anywhere, you are just on a much less populated server.

I'll freely admit to running a team through one of these "farm" AE missions.

But nothing said, "this should get nerfed" more than having the level 26 Mastermind ask in team chat, "how do I make my pets move?"

Ok, thought that may have been it.

Thats like me saying that somehow everyone has designed thier missions to only drop influence for my characters. Even though I've just been MAing on 50s. :P

Right up there is a level 50 asking where Skyway City is and "What's a CoT prison?"

So did you show them? Or did you just point and laugh making them want to leave that much more?

You can't have it both ways...you can't complain about people not being in the zones and then ridicule those who step out of the AE and ask you questions about the game.

That could work. It would also curb new players (BRAND NEW, that is) from PLing their ways to 50, as an added bonus =]

Actually, I WAS 50 before I ever ended up in a CoT prison, and that was in issue 12, so nothing to do with MA :P

High level noobs don't bother me, that's what the kick button is for. My only beef with Farmitect Entertainment is the insane amount of spam it generates on the broadcast channel. Nothing else about AE bothers me. I think it needs its own chat subheader on the main pane, right there with local, broadcast, team, etc. There will be a transition period where people learn to use the new channel, but frankly, unless AE gets nerfed to the point where nobody uses it anymore the spam is gonna keep on rolling. Might as well give it someplace to spill off to.

the latest info on the coming features:
[ QUOTE ]
Enhanced searching and navigation options like key phrase tagging and arc difficulty display help players find the content they're looking for even faster
New Server-wide Architect Chat channel
Plus several other features and improvements to Mission Architect

[/ QUOTE ]

As with every MMO, new issue and some events there is an increased amount of spam during certain times. This ALWAYS dies down. In the meantime rest assured that the devs are working on ways to improve the overall experience for everyone in the game and the new AE channel is a step in that direction. Good things come to those that wait.

I agree with removing it from Atlas. There is far too much broadcast spamming going on for new players to be exposed to even without AE farming spams.

I agree with moving it to Galaxy. There is very little traffic in Galaxy. Face it, most of the time your first contact sends you to Atlas right away anyway! I think moving the AE there would bring more traffic. I know there are those that probably like Galaxy to themselves, but there is a lot of good content there that is missed because there is little or no reason to go there. Galaxy was my street hunting zone from 5-10 until police missions hit, and I started heading for Kings Row to work to get a jet pack. Once I had that, it really didn't make much sense to go back to Galaxy. The AE is the hook it needs. - or maybe come missions need to be moved to drag more traffic over there. (maybe some low level arena stuff would help aide traffic through there as well).

I don't care either way about Steel at this point, so I can't make a good decision as far as that goes. - though Steel gets far more traffic than Skyway, so...

I think that level-wise, etc. that Talos is a good place for the AE. It is a nexus of sorts, so that makes it a good place for it. I would hate to see it end up at the far end of IP! (either far end!)

Since this isn't an anti-farming thread, I guess I shouldn't suggest that everyone spam ignore players that send them tells requesting them to fill so that the farmer can make more loot and the filler gets used. So I won't, people will have to come up with that idea themselves if they so desire.

TBH, I don't understand why atleast 1 of those 50 employees working on CoX doesnt have the unique job of playing through possible "farm" AE missions and "clicking delete" when he comes across them.
And then going 1 step farther and giving people 24 hour bans to put any new arcs up per account.

I love to farm <3

But I thought I read along time ago now, from a DEV where they said AE was NOT for farming.

I know any entire SG who 1 stars arcs if they arent farms... Wow. WTG. GREAT.

And I also think the rating system needs a total overhaul.

Oh, I probably will, from now on. That's not going to help too much when I need to get my Cape and/or Aura missions. Or get told I need to speak to Azuria or Smythe. Or to head to the Vanguard building. Or to (if I ever actually can) get a Sewer Trial...

[/ QUOTE ]

Wait. Wait. Wait! WTF.

How exactly is this affecting your ability to get a sewer trial?

1.) You need like minded individuals to run it anyway. You don't just grab a random PuG from anywhere and try to run that unless you just desire failure.
2.) There is no need to go to Atlas.

Sooooo? Please explain.

[/ QUOTE ]

Havn't ran a Sewer trial recently have you?

http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Sewer_Trial
[ QUOTE ]

The majority of the Trial is designed to take place in the Abandoned Sewer Network. The contact (Mairenn MacGregor) is located near the Atlas Park sewer entrance.

[/ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]

They moved it from Founders?

My apologies on point 2 then as its invalid. Point 1 is still very valid though. This isn't just something you jump into with random people and expect success.

[/ QUOTE ]

I know that. It's just... one of those things I want to do, but have yet to successfully manage. I've never done the Sewer Trial, A Hamidon Raid, an Eden Trail, a Mothership Raid, or Statesman's Task Force. I want to do this things... but hell, I suck at building PuGs for normal missions I know by heart. I have no idea how to go about building a team for these things.

That doesn't change the fact that, as traffic-heavy as Atlas is right now, even moving through the zone can be a chore of choppy graphinc, rubberbanding, and disconects. So, even in the off chance I could gather enough interest in the Sewer Trial... I fear that half the team wouldn't last to getting to the sewers.

That's all I meant.

[/ QUOTE ]

if you cant handle the lag in atlas, dont even try a hami or rwz raid.

could be the devs want to continue gainful employment. Ive seen a lot of draconian suggestions here to "cure" something that might not even be a disease. any of which could potentially cost many subscriptions.

And what is wrong with someone 1 staring a mission??? I'm sure you do it to missions you don't like. Why can't they do it to missions they don't like? The ratings are a beauty contest, nothing more. You may have made the Mona Lisa of missions, but that doesn't mean you are going to appeal to everyone.

As far as someone playing through and deleting "farms" from the AE. Probably because nowhere is it listed amongst the rules or Dev postings that farming is against the rules. Only in the use of exploits. So why would they pay someone to delete things that are not against the rules?

I believe this started as a farming thread, or am I in the wrong place? I made some interesting discoveries the last few days as i played Investigator o.o I drew some conclusions as well.

BUT if I'm int he wrong place I won't post them here :P
