Switching Sides
try the search function next time you would like to suggest this topic it has been up and rehashed like horror films. They turn into a giant dispute why or why not.
But I will say no to this also leave the games the way they are. The game is in good shape and growing from indications for NCSoft. CO is competition(if you wanna call it that from what we saw), and competition is healthy and good for the game so it could bring more to us.
...... No .......
I hope we never see switching side's personaly. Also as your new you might
not know this, but this suggestion is brought up often. Use of search might
help in the future.
Dude, take it easy on your shift key. Also, see the posts above.
Did sticky keys jump out at you? Every word there is capitalized!
Coming from a man who abuses his shift key like movie producers and directors have abused the story of every lame and boring serial killer ever to have should've been forgotten by America, please leave it alone. I think I find capslock more pleasant than having to watch one capitalized word after another, like some haunting DaVinci code that won't let me sleep.
As for the idea itself? I'm not going to talk about it. You should know how to search, and that's not the fault of the community if you were unable to find anything for it.
I've made this suggestion before, I thought it would be cool. But, I do not think the devs will go for it.

The devs sent out a survey last August in which side switching was a BIG theme. Of course a survey is not a promise to do it (especially since the survey was sort of a laundry list of ambitious features), but clearly they're thinking hard about how they'd do it and are excited enough about it to ask players' feedback on it.

1.) Where were you raised? If you're in the US... either your parents don't know how to write or you don't. I don't buy your explination.
2.) It's not discrimination to say it's hard to read.

Well, we won't discriminate against you, but consider this....
Why do you write? Why did you take the time out to sit at a computer, log into the forums, and type out a message?
You did it to convey a thought or idea.
It stands to reason that if you're making the effort to convey a thought or idea, you would want to do it in the most effective manner possible. Initial caps on every word is NOT that manner. It's not proper grammar and it makes the sentences much more difficult to read because it's harder to distinguish between the sentences. I know you believe there's nothing wrong with writing like that (you said so), but that's not the case. The whole point of writing is to convey an idea or thought, and doing it in a fashion that makes it more difficult to read visually, and breaking grammar conventions, doesn't make sense. It cheapens your argument.
Capital letters belong at the beginning of sentences and formal names.

Welcome to the Suggestions and Ideas forums. In general, your suggestions will receive more useful feedback if you do the following:
-Search first. There's even a guide on how to search stickied at the top of the forum. There's quite a bit of churn on ideas here, things we see over and over again. Odds are, you're not the first to think of something broad, in this case side switching, and if you read the history of the idea, it will give you some background and will allow you to put an unique take on an old idea rather than just rehashing the same stuff. If your idea is different, I'm much more willing to offer feedback. If its the same, I'm more likely to just leave your post alone because I get tired of typing the same thing over and over.
-Use easy-to-read formatting. No, this does not make me the 'grammar police,' although a nightstick might be handy- I digress. If you use easy-to-read formatting, it makes it much easier for me to understand your idea and to give good feedback on it. Big blocks of text are harder to read than paragraphs. So are all caps, no caps, random caps, no punctuation, etc. It's also a question of credibility. Not everyone agrees with this (Not everyone agrees with anything here), but if you use easy-to-read formatting, I will think you care enough about your idea for me to care enough to respond. It will also make me think you put some thought into the idea, not just "Hey, this is so cool, I must share it with everyone right now!"
-Details. Use details. As I mentioned before, many broad ideas encore here regularly. But the details are what make it interesting. How should side-switching work? What's the story behind it? What about AT balance? Do you envision pvp involved? Task forces? I'll happily discuss details with you, but broad ideas don't give me anyplace to start.
-Remember not everyone will agree with your ideas. In most cases, its not personal, and many times, people will provide reasons for their disagreement. Again, you'll get more bang for your buck if you have done the above. And this is a forum for players to discuss ideas with other players, help ideas develop. While the devs read here, posting will not guarantee a dev response.
Help us help you! And enjoy your time here.

While I understand that the way I type could be confusing, and I'm sorry if it is, but my point is that it's beside the point. What I say should not be ignored because you're uncomfortable with the way I portrayed it. (I already conformed to your preference, so please leave it at that). That being said, I'll check out some of the other posts and the link Sardon left for me.

Thank you very much for changing your own text format, and taking the time out to search. I truly hope you find any/all answers you seek.
1. Honestly, no offense to you, but, I could care less if you 'buy my explanation'.
2. I wasn't saying you were discriminating against me, I was just making sure no one would; that they would look at my point instead of the way it's written.
Speaking of searching and repeat posts, my current favorite take on any kind of side-switching is the related amoral AT idea as suggested by Kerinna here.

Yeah, nobody listens to Stephen Hawking because of that totally unconventional text-to-speech rig he uses to "communicate." Nobody pays attention to deaf people because of all those crazy things they're always doing with their hands. And nobody I know cares what the little dots on the elevator numbers in the hospital are there for.
This is all sarcasm, in an attempt to prove Kusanagi wrong. I kind of hope nobody thinks typing in InterCaps isn't a serious disability, though.

I find the COH search very unfriendly to use, often getting results not even close to what I am asking.
And getting back on topic. I would love to be able to switch sides! I think it could open up a series of fun new content and missions!
I would so make my EM/EA stalker a hero!

Just ignore them, literally, click on their name, and on the next page click on Ignore this user youll find your life on these boards a lot better that way.
As for your suggestion, I like, but I dont think the Dev would see it that way.

People talking to Stephen Hawking generally aren't asking "Who the expletive are you and why should I care what you have to say?"

A person who goes to the effort of translating a deaf person's sign language is generally beyond the step of "Who the expletive are you and why should I care what you have to say?"
One's sentence structure is part of the first impression, and doing things like capitalizing every word or being outright unintelligible can mean that no one cares what you have to say because it's too irritating to read. (Capitalization is one of my pet peeves, honestly. >_> It helps to be able to see sentence beginnings and important words.)

OK, maybe so. But what about somebody else with a similar condition and method of speech? What about a tracheotomy victim who uses a voice box? Dismissing somebody you don't know as being of no value based on superficial impressions is bigotry, nothing more.

Not really. They may be interpreting the sign language for a college interview, or perhaps a job interview. In such cases, they have no idea who the person is. Again, you're just making excuses for bigotry.

I couldn't agree more about how capitalization helps to be able to see sentence beginnings and important words. But the simple truth is that not everything that's worthwhile is also easy. Get over it.

Although I still think that it's unfair that pe ople are treating me like this, it's a bit off topic. Honestly, while I love CoH, It's really unrealistic. In actual comics (and real life at that), there's more than just good and evil, and even so, sometimes villains aren't all that bad, and heroes ocasionally do stuff not very...heroic. For example, A few years ago, the Spectre went and killed a few heroes in his mission of revenge. Green Lantern Hal Jordan went rogue and supposably killed multiple other GL's. Some heroes live by a certain belief (like the spectre),and sometimes it leads them to actions that aren't respectable in the eyes of society. Also like I mentioned earlier, theres the middleman, like bounty hunters, who work for the highest bid. Plus it would just be plain fun. It would add flavor to the game, instead of the game just being about action, your missions could have a moralistic twist. Two friends who constantly team up could end up trying to take the other out in 'Recluse's Victory'.
I've been behind the ability to switch sides since Villains first came out. So, not only am I defending your right to write differently and chastizing the bigoted remarks about your style of communication, but I'm also /signing the idea, more or less.
Again.

This. There's a bunch of donkeyhats that frequent this forum.
Side switching covers a wide range of things, but I can say that it should definitely be allowed in some form within the pvp zones. It would be very helpful in evening up the numbers on both sides for better fighting.
I've Been Thinking About What This Game Is Missing, And Fretting Over Its Possible Demise Once CO Gets Here, And Really, CoX Needs A BIG Change If Its Going To Survive. Therefore I Think It Would Be Insanely Cool If Cox Had The Ability To Switch Your Character From Good To Evil,(Hero To Villain). F.E In Actual Comics, Sometimes Heroes Take A Turn In Their Careers, Or A Villain Has A Change Of Heart. Another Idea, Is To Have The Middleman. Not Everyone Is Good Or Evil, There's The Guys Who Go To The Highest Bidders, Or Follow A Lifestyle/Belief That Sometimes Has Them Doing Something Not Exactly...Respectable. I Think This Idea Would Pick Up Alot More Fans Who Don't Enjoy The Limitations Of 'Good Vs. Evil'(Plus It Would Be Insanely Fun )
