Manticore and Citadel aren't much better -- although at least Manticore has some variety in enemy groups, but it's still a slog.
-
Last I heard they were working on remaking the entire thing in HTML5.
-
Now imagine that you're one of the roughly 90% of the players of this game who never frequents the forums or the test server and has no idea this change is going to occur until one day you log in and see you're being forced to respec every character you have before you're allowed to play them.

Quote:Thing is, currently everything else in the store that gives a definitive edge to your characters' combat capabilities isn't anything that you couldn't also get in the regular game simply by playing it more.would buy this in an instant, BUT be prepared for the P2W whines. Which really, this idea is the closest thing to it.
XP boosters let you level up faster -- but everyone gets to level 50 eventually.
Buying entire purple IO sets in the paragon store is more convenient than hoping for drops, grinding for merits or gaming the auction house to accrue a billion inf -- but with enough work, you can get them without paying real money.
You can't buy the extra salvage/enhancement/recipe/auction storage expansions, but that just means you have to spend a little more time cleaning them out and deciding what you do or don't want to hold on to, it doesn't really change your combat effectiveness any more than a bigger bladder capacity would.
Ninja Run and Beast Run are 20% cooler than boring ol' sprint, and in a particularly tight build can even let you skip spending a power pick on a travel power if you really want, but craftable jetpack temp powers are ten inf a dozen.
Enhancement Boosters and Catalysts both drop as regular drops. Very occasionally, but they do drop.
This, on the other hand, would add a definite combat edge and wouldn't be available any other way. -
Quote:And ESPECIALLY if the person that had it isn't here anymore.Agreed.
The Devs have told us that they'd rather work on new ideas that they have than old ideas someone had at one time in the distant past, even if the person that had the idea is still there.
Can you imagine the kind of acrimony they'd get into if Emmert saw a 'skills' system being put in here and decided that it looked sufficiently like "his" idea that he'd have some kind of claim on it? -
The day this game even moves in the direction of open-world PVP is the day I'll cancel my VIP subscription.

Street Justice is /deliciously/ punchy. I have a redside StJ/Will Brute that's an ex-Mob legbreaker. Never had a character concept that worked itself out in my head so quickly.
-
The fact that players can and will cheerfully spend an entire evening just fiddling with purely cosmetic aspects of their characters says a whole lot about the quality of the costume creator.
-
You and an average of six or seven others that either fail to search the suggestions forum or subscribe to the "if we whine harder we'll get it faster" school of thought.
Could you be a dear and wait at least a month between bringing it up, do everyone else's blood pressure a favor? -
Now that you're 14, do yourself a huge favor and give the new and revamped Positron Task Forces (yes, forces, plural -- they split it up into two much more easily manageable parts during the revamp) a try.

Does anyone have a good "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY" image macro? I'm going to be needing it.
-
And all the while that terrified "oh crap oh crap oh crap people are trying to KILL ME" expression even while he maneuvers one bane spider into blocking another's mace with his helmet, then trips him on top of two others who were just about to open fire, ducks between someone's legs, scrambles onto his back and sprints a few steps using their heads as stepping stones before tripping just in time to avoid getting speared by Recluse's spider arms...
... Man, I really need to rewatch some of my old JC collection now. -
Quote:The reasons he isn't are myriad but mainly have to do with his extremely dodgy approach to science and his habit of threatening to sue anyone who questions his status as the unsung and oppressed greatest medical hero of this generation.Again, blurring the line between Natural and Science and Technology (though I think he may fit most closely into Science if one must be chosen) is Dr Stanislaw Burzynski ( http://www.burzynskiclinic.com/ ) This guy has cured cancer (not in every patient, but in enough that it's amazing he's not a household name).

Quote:It would probably involve spending a lot of time between Recluse's legs and crawling around on his back.
... That probably sounded better in your head.
But yeah, his defense method would be some kind of improvised-from-moment-to-moment madcap dash and scramble to make Benny Hill green with envy, barely batting aside one strike, a panicked duck taking him just out of reach of the follow up, rolling off the side of one of those platforms for a split second's cover to avoid the blast, dodging a spider arm strike that leaves the appendage embedded in the ground just long enough to gain a precious two seconds' worth of breathing room to yell at the rest of the team to hurry up and disable those things before-YIKE! and back to the dance... -
Not /nearly/ as simple as you make it sound, as each of those powersets would have a separate 'draw' animation.
Back when Shields were implemented part of the difficulty was the devs having to go through all melee attack sets and add new animations to work single handed -- and they still had to give up on a few powersets and say "These just won't pair with shields".
I'm not saying it isn't possible, but it's also not as simple as you're making it sound. -
Quote:Translation: "Everyone who is against my super awesome idea obviously doesn't understand what I'm talking about, so I'll just reiterate my points for the ignorant."From I can see, most people think this a horrible idea. Let me clarify some things however:
Do yourself a favor, and never EVER try to start a defense of a proposal with that sentence again. And by all that's holy, don't turn the defense into an attack on the most vocal critics.
We understand what you have in mind just fine. We just honestly think it's a horrible idea. A well intentioned idea, certainly, but still a horribly bad one.
It doesn't matter how often you insist that this isn't politics. Human nature dictates that it will devolve into politics roughly five seconds after the first "board" is seated and someone who felt entitled to a seat realizes they didn't get one. -
2 AM is not a terribly auspicious starting time, no. Even if you don't have work to be at the next morning.

Tony, I'm going to link this post of yours in my .sig because everyone needs to read it until they understand.

Quote:... And this is a problem why exactly? That's not entirely true. If the devs keep a content stream up at this pace, there is more content being generated than there is free points, so there's no way you can get everything just by waiting. Aside from waiting for sales, waiting just creates even more content that you may wish to buy.

It's entirely possible to level to 50 doing nothing but the trial - but I suspect it would get transcendentally boring fairly quickly past level 20 or so.
MaestroMavius also raises a good point in that not only do you rush past the levels by PLing, because of the autoexemplaring to level 1-5 you never get a chance to use said powers and evaluate how well they do or don't work for you until you stop running the sewer trial and try them out in other content.
I'll likely still regularly use it for to get a new lowbie character up to scratch, or for some quick fast XP to a midbie when I've cleared my tips and don't feel like soloing, but I'd highly recommend that especially newer players use it sparingly past level 10 or so. -
Question - can you get the reward table once per week per SSA, or once per week for any SSA?
