Actually, that original post is kinda handy for beta testing. Make sure the color you set for your power is right both when it travels to your target and the effect that plays when the target is hit. Examine your power carefully to make sure textures within the power (like bubbles in the force fields) are working right, too. Power effects that hit are a global thing, there's no need to try your power out on every critter in the game....
