Actually, I don't remember ever reading that they were not possible right now...just that they would have taken too much time to do. It's hard to say if "too much time" equals six months or two years.
Anywho, I like the dual blades and the weapon customization. The WP is still pretty glowy, and not the toned down set that I was envisioning. Overall, looks like I11 will be a good issue. It's great that the video confirmed that I11 is coming out in Fall of 2007.
From what I could see in that video of Willpower, the power effects are pretty dimmed down. Infact, the times they flared up was on activation before dimming down again, and when hit before dimming down once again. I suppose its being done that way to show if the power is taking effect or not. And really, if it has no auras at all (Not even the dim ones it already seems to have), then it'd be a tad unfair for the other secondary powersets that have somewhat obvious animations, no?

In a word, Buildup. In two words, no Buildup. In more words than that, you have to hit 2 or 3 times to get a Buildup, so good luck vs. Defense sets in their teir 9 (or even out of it). Plus, it's Damage Per Second, where in PvP burst is king.

I do PvP on occaision, and believe me a lack of a straight-up Buildup hurts the set in PvP. Inspirations are nice, but not always available where Buildup is. I'll still take Dual Blades into PvP, and I do encourage others to because I happen to like taking suboptimal sets in there. Also, I don't really mind losing. But yeah, Dual Blades will be in the same boat as Claws in PvP. I like Claws, too.

1) less fx, = less lag for people with slower systems.
2) the fx are not always the look (or color) you want on your toon, for example you dont think batman wants to glow, you wouldn't want wolverine glowing green, i have gone to alot of trouble to design a costume then to have it kinda messed up by some clashing color in his/her 2ndary toggles (i hate green). my question back to you is do you need a glowing aura to see your toggle is on? the spinning circle isnt enough?
I take powers because of the effectiveness of the set (or how well it matches the concept i have for the toon) not because of how shiny it is. until we can customize the auras I would rather do with out most of the time. but we all have our preferences.
not that i mind ones for activation but the continuing aura is over done over all i think

PvP was just one more reason to nerf us, (trav powers) so i hate that it is there at all, so dont care if a set is good for it or not lol still wish that nerf was only there in those zones, whole point of SS is to run up smack someone and run away before they can react, but hey no use crying over it now

The set is good, I like it. But as a PvP Choice, hmm...no
as if it matered. Most people in PvP use cowards tactics anyway. for example: Think of blasters using TP foe to zap you out of your base then one shotting you with a build up bonesmasher attack. Cheesy gits.
Id like to see some serious teleport protection come issue 12. especially for masterminds. Who are seriously gimped in outside PvP. Also, isnt there ANYONE without invisibility in PvP these days. buncha stalker wannabees.
don't get me wrong i don't mind losing a fight. as long as its an actuall fight and not a oneshot death from one overpowered suckerpunch. but i digress. this is something for a different topic. so ill say no more.
exactly, only real pvp is the arena, one on one, team battles whatever, but the FFA zones no thank you, an exercise in futility

ok I knew I said I wouldn't waste anymore words on this but MAN you completely missed my point didnt you.
A: I dont stay in base all the time. But sometimes you need time to recover or prepare. summon pets or other things. if at that time someone decides to zap you out for the third time in a row, youd feel pretty miffed to I recon.
B: Inspirations arent always on hand. You should know this.
C: Why should I have to reroll a different character? With a set that i dont like? That makes no flippin sence. I shouldn't be forced to stop playing a character I like just because some people dont have the guts to face you in a fair fight.
Anyway nuff said. This thread isn't for this discussion so if you wanna spout more nonsense send me a PM. I don't wanna bother the rest of the community with this.
If your asking a Stalker to face you in a fair fight I'd laugh in your face if I was the Stalker. Stalker's arent made for "fair" fights. I also dont recall any people who could fly coming down to face me on the ground for a "fair" fight ethier in PvP. So this whole fair fight thing is pretty subjective.
i really dont want to continue this, but there is no such thing as a fair fight, irl or in a game. someone always has some advantage, either they are stronger, bigger, faster, whatever. the issue isnt so much about a "fair fight" as it is (un)common courtesy. a guy drops his sword you either say you won and end it there or you let him get his sword and pick up where u left off. you don't go jump him when he gets rolled out of the hospital in the wheelchair. lol even comic book villains have the courtesy to wax poetic while the hero gets his **** together
stupid off topic bs aside, I can't wait for this to go to open beta!!!!!!!!!!!!! already planned out at least one more alt with the new set, and have ideas for restarting a few others to make them fit my ideas better, the willpower fits my ideas for a few alot better than SR or regen
what i have seen so far it looks way better than I would have ever expected, i wasn't excited about it at first, but they seem to have done it really well, but i cant wait to try it
and some of the new female hair styles are great, reminds me i need to look ans see if there are new ones for male too, so l8r...

PvP is very much a broken game. It's fun, but it's almost always unfair fights, which is totally fine, you just have to realize this. I don't play much PvP when i did in warburg, i just fought 1v1 against a large group of people, we all stood around in a fight circle so if someone else came to interupt, WHAAMMOO! but thats not too often you'll find that outside SGmates.
As far as the new sets go. DAMNNNNNNN hurry up! i want to play my dual blades/wp on open beta atleast!

I actually agree with this statement, while they should focus on other things as well (game content) the devs need to keep in mind that the biggest thing that makes this game unique to other MMOs is the character customization, and try to play that up a bit come issue release time.

Agreed. The costume creator and Endurance system is what stops me from going back to World of Warcraft (everytime my spell uses up 1000 mana, God kills a kitten =\).

What is the animation time on thousand swipes/cuts? I am a lil nevrous. The animation times for the first 3 attacks aren't bad on time and are imo perfect for a scrapper. But i do worry about the last power.
Would it be cooler for it to be a flash of light, kinda of a burst and that was the thousand cuts.

3 min animation of swining your sword :P

I'm still really disappointed about the powers chosen. I had really hoped for the shields to be implemented for both offense and defense. There are pleanty of weapons in the game already. Dual weapons just seem like the same thing as all the others. Especially since a shield defense would allow for a weapon and shield combo and a shield offense would be a lot of fun to play around with and would add something completely new and different to the game. Anyways the willpower set will be useful I suppose. Just kinda lose cool points on this one with me. I still really enjoy the game though and hats off for all the hard work.
It was a nice video.
My only issue was that the Dual Blade animations looked a little off since the character's heads don't move at all - all the movement is coming from the body, but it's not reflected in the head. But that's a small thing.
