Due to game mechanics there is only two differences betwen all of those. Range and crushing vs lethal. We all ready have several lethal and crushing melee attack. So dual physical blades is redundant. Its too bad limited resources cant be spent on better ideas. This is the whole motorcycle travel power idea all over again.

There were even notes about shields being a defensive set that'd take a large amount of time because of the animations. The whole Dev team knew what they were getting into as they gave the list and acting better than a lot of MMO Devs they gave us the choice of what we want next. States isn't some evil guy who sits around going, "We'll do a poll to see what they want and not give it to them. Maybe they'll hope we'll realease it later and that'll keep their subscription. /e evillaugh*"

Dual Blades was the winner of the "offensive powerset" poll. Psionic Weaponry was second, and Street Fighting was a distant third (but strangely had huge forum support in the discussions).

Personally, I didn't want another 'blade' set either unless the blade was on a stick (spear/pike/halberd) or the blade was made of something different. I voted for Energy Blade and Psionic Weaponry but you don't hear me crying. If the devs are putting effort into the new set to make it look cool, then I'll surely make a cool-to-me concept for them and play them.
If you continue to read Positron's post, he says they are making Shield melee, but it'll take time to get all the animations together and make it look nice and cool. Even though it was the winner, the attention that shields needed was going to Dual blades (and Willpower requiring very little attention overall works in the set's favor especially because it was the runner up).
I hope the devs do more polls like this. Next poll up should be ranged sets and control sets!

Um yes. There are NOT a ton of concept chars who use shields at all who wouldn't just be copying what captain america does with a shield. Please do tell me, if you can who else goes around throwing their shield around like he does? He is SO the basis for this Shield Power. Cause otherwise it's just "Oh I blocked your power. Which is one of the reasons that BAB had those sticks in the pic of his cubicle. He needed them to try out different attack motions. Animators do that quite often, so they can tweak the way it looks in the game. If I recall from the behind the scenes documentaries for some films, BAB would probably have attached to the sticks and to himself (or others that were trying out the new moves) sensors/reflectors which is used to help record movements and placement of the blades and the character.
