Discussion: City Scoop for May 18th

I have no idea what connection those 2 particular red names have to those costume pieces, and the only server I play on is Victory. (I think I have heard that that server is considered the "roleplay server")
[/ QUOTE ]
There was an event (on Test I believe) before the veteran rewards were unlocked for the general populace where they appeared wearing those items. Also, Virtue is generally considered the roleplaying server.

The Holloween (sp) Party on Test.
City Scoop is great.
Love all the parts of it. I don't do crossword puzzles but the lay out of the xword puzzle was fantastic.
Desperately seeking to be interviewed for behind the mask , I'm sure everyone is.
Thank you to all the people who spent their time and contributed to this City Scoop it's a nice addition to the Gem that the CoX community is.

They had a party on Test a while back (I think for the a holiday) and those rednames were sporting those costume items, ergo, the references (I think a better clue would have been "First player to wear a trench jacket" personally).
And AFAIR, it's the "other server that starts with the letter 'V'" that is the RP server (unless I'm mistaken).

3 across - as someone else in this thread posted: another type of game commonly found in newspapers.
17 across: hmm. It's a redname, but of a somewhat different sort than the other red names that come up in the puzzle. If you're stumped read the sidebar on page one.

Figured out 3 across from another clue on this thread, and thinking about it last night doing word search puzzles Thanks for the hint nonetheless!
As far as 17 across - "Invented Inventions" - ha! Should have figure that one out. The clue was left ambiguous on purpose Thanks for the tip!
That makes a complete puzzle
I loved the first issue and I'm definately looking forward to seeing more! I'd love to be a part of it also! =)
Take care peoples!

Virtue!!!
Congratulations, Obsidius! Next issue, we'll run all the answers, so you can be sure to double check yourself.
Thank you, everyone for posting your reactions! We're getting lots of great feedback (and I'm getting lots of tips on how to make better clues).
Yes, Behind the Mask is easily becoming a high in demand feature. I'd venture a guess and say more than half the help we've been offered (here and in PMs) is people willing to sacrifice their time to be interviewed.
Thanks again for your support!
still need 3 and 13 down, 9 across D:
3) Guess I never did that arc S__A_S_
9)[censored]? ______I_
13)S_A_T_O__ This is probably really easy or something, but I'm just not seeing it... I was thinking snow beast or something holloweeny but I can't figure it out D:

I'll give you the first letter of 9 across: E. Remember, think rednames.

Think the most holiday-related recent event, as well as the 2006 winter event.
I'm still trying to figure out 3 Down: S _ _ A _ S E
But I can provide additional hints for the other two you need...
9 Accross: Izzy is the nickname of someone who posts on these forums. Believe it or not, the name is on this very page (and all other forum pages, for that matter).
13 Down: You get to pick a fight with him at certain times of the year when you visit Pocket D.
"Goodbye, Jean-Luc. I'm gonna miss you... you had such potential. But then again, all good things must come to an end..." -- Q
I just figured out 3 down, but wouldn't it be better to say: "Escaped from Crey"?
Also, has anyone ever used that "Redname"?
"Goodbye, Jean-Luc. I'm gonna miss you... you had such potential. But then again, all good things must come to an end..." -- Q
thanks Tay and T for the help finished!
I'm vain enough to want to be interviewed... but I can't think of any reason that I should be.
Rather, For victory server personalities I would nominate Satanic Hamster (not everyone likes him*, but he is relatively well-known on the server), LastGunSlinger (current leader of the LoV/FL, the biggest SG on the server, and a generally cool guy)
* though I suppose there is no one that everyone likes
I voted for feature news as a favorite primarily because of this:

Most students elected to live off-campus and commute. "I live in a tree in Perez Park," said Moondrop (25, Virtue).
[/ QUOTE ]
The other thing I liked was the "From the Experts" sidebar. I started playing this game during the 3-day headstart - and I had no idea that petitions do not automatically include character name and server.
Awesome stuff! While I may be doing an interview for an upcoming issue, I wish I'd been tapped about this sooner, only because of the big article on the university. I run an RP SG on Virtue with one of my 50s that's geared specifically to heroes that are also students at PCU, called The Campus Alliance of Preternatural and Exemplary Students, or CAPES. Ah well!
So write up something and send it in! The more, the merrier.

I just have to say, Bravo ladies and gentlemen. I fine publication to be sure. I was especially fond of "Dear Athy" and LiquidX's response to the smoke grenade emissions. Top notch folks.
I look forward to the next issue

You have no clue how long I've been wanting to use that joke.
I'm still stuck at 17 across. 'Invented Inventions'. Only one I have left. Hint?

just wondering. What would one do to get interviewed for the Behind the Mask Section? also, what would one have to do to make the headline?
Also, Leandro, did you try anything involving the costumes you can invent?

Yep, I tried all the boot names (because there's a "O" near the end) but nothing fitted. hmm.

Yes, I meant I had heard the "other V server" was the roleplay server. I certainly wasn't implying that victory was.
I think Victory is the official violent-hostility-towards-roleplayers server.

You are thinking Invented Inventions as "Adjective- plural noun".
I promise "Verb - Direct Object."
