Ah! The good old days.. *sniff*
Noob moments from history:
I got into this game on strong recommendation from my brother, who's very first character (created right at release) was named "Patient Zero."
So I'm running my missions, and suddenly I get a mission that tells me to "Defeat Patient Zero." And, seriously, I'm actually wondering for quite a while if I'm supposed to go kill my brother, who was actually logged in at the time, before I realize the unlikelihood of that particular scenario.
But what an interesting game it would have been, if "patient zero" for the Vahz disease was some unsuspecting player picked at random every time that mission was drawn. No debt, no penalty, just some hero randomly stomping you, putting you in a body bag, and sending you off for analysis.
Heck, I would award special XP to the inconvenienced player, just to make them think they won a weird lottery.

You can believe it. Good ol Sam the Dog shaman.
I remember talking my ex-roomie into getting the game based upon what I had read about it in PCGamer.
....the first character I created, and still my Main, and getting tells about the name, some got it, some didn't.
....seeing my first high level ambush chasing after the ambushee after Hollows came out. It was the first time I had seen Freakshow, and following them at a distance just to see what they would do and getting to close and they happily showed me for all .5 seconds.
....the Rularuu invasion. Remember attacking the eyeballs and brutes in AP and GC and getting so cocky that I started attacking higher level mobs and getting a free ride to the hospital.
....helping out a 40+ character with a nemie mission and not realizing that snipers saw thru CD+SS and getting killed over and over till I hit the debt cap.
....when badges came out and I had the first 2 when I logged on the first time along with the 3 mez badges.
...the nerf to trip mine. After setting up a Hallway of Death and luring a Red con boss into it and just standing there going, "This ain't fair....oh that hurt."
....when in the 30s and up I couldn't get a team because no one wanted a blaster on the team...and getting kicked from the team when a scrapper(s) became available.
I am taking my sig to MWO and MWT. Let them wonder what it means.

Well I do remeber Temp Invulnerabiity being a click power. And I remember think it was pretty much useless.
I remember getting into Perez Park my 4th or 5th day CoH beta, getting my Defeat 10 CoT mission completed. Then heading to the futherest, remoted mission door in Perez. My first cave map had the infamous 4 level cavern. I remeber being totally bewildered during the entire mission because it was an 8 man team.
I remeber leaving the mission and trying to leave the Perez Maze with my Skin intacts. I rememer actually making to the edge of the park with an enterance in sight. And I remember the heart-ache of being Recall Friend'ed by my mentor back into the middle of the Lake surrounded on all side by Hyda. And then dicovering the joy of the Hospital Express.
I remember getting Hover, and loving this game. And I remeber getting real extremely lucky in meeting up with the Altas Blimp. And then disoverying that one can actually land on said Blimp.
I remember Hover Patrolling over KR looking for those CoT green flickers of light at night. I also remeber the heart-ache of find another hero beating me to the spawn.
I have it etech into my memory when I finally got Fly. It was the embodiment of a kids dream of being a super hero. It still being a tear of joy to my eye when I think about it.
I remember my first time into Boom Town and marveling at it in person for the first time. I also remeber being in awe of a level 32 character that was just sitting around in Boomtown.
I remeber loving to play tourist in CoH beta. Just flying around visiting all of the zones that I could get into. I would spend hours just flying around and enjoying the zones. And I still so flying around playing tourists in zones today. I'm still see new things I havent seen before even after 2 1/2 years of play.
I remember seeing Talos Island and Founder Falls from the air, seeing off of the green circles of light, and thinking that the CoT are very brazen in those zones. (They actually were just DE Trees of Life back when they stuck around forever.) And I remember see DE Emanators for the first time. They conned are Lieutenants. All of the new players just standing around staring at them, not daring to get too close to aggro them.
My RL friend and SG mates filled me in on the CoH background. And I marvled at seeing Rikti in FF for the first time. They seems strange, mysteries and ominous specially with that strange gated walk of theirs.
And I remeber the Rikti Invasion to close out the CoH Beta. See a Ritki Mothership appear in the skys in the various zones. Spawns of Hydra appearing in Stell Canyon and all throughout Paragon City.
I remember gathering in Talos Islands preparing for and awaing "IT to begin. The players around the tram just talking and organizing things. I'm just sort of look around, spot something and trying to get everyones attention. "guys"...."Guys!"...."GUYS! HELLLO!!!!! SPACESHIP TO THE NORTH!!!!!!!!! INCOMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Rikti everywhere. Heroes valently fighting against overwhelming odds. Man it felt like being in a one of the big comic publisher world ending epic event. I remeber getting mezz'ed and mezz'ed over and over by one Rikti LT. And I remember being determinded to dropped that one LT if it took me the rest of the night.
We finally cleared the hill to the Noth of the Tram in Talo. And the fleet moving heroes start faning out looking for more Rikti incusions. I remeber getting a bit to lot and getting smack hard by a Tsoo. And then getting a drive by heal by a friendly Defender. (Acutall it was move of a suicidal drop healing as the Defender was a Teleporter and I was 100 ft in the air).
I got lots more but I think I'll stop here....

I remember the initial shock everyone had (me included) when Jack Emmert didn't look a thing like Statesman.... But that's the whole point of a game like City of Heroes, you can make just about any kind of character.
I remember when the Pre-Beta forum members were anxiously waiting to see if they'd get the chance to join one of the waves of the Closed Beta. Most (if not all games) had people having to fill out forms, stating what games you've played (online and otherwise). Even after playing SWG, it was a pain trying to apply for it's first expansion Jump to Lightspeed. Prior to SWG, I had no other experience in MMORPGs (BBS RPG games don't count).
With CoH, no prior experience was needed, but being in Beta was a lesson in patience and trying to submit any bug I found (when it was safe to do so...). Hey, it might take days or months, but it's satifying to see something you pointed out before getting fixed.
I remember when everyone had to do train hopping to get to the right station. Man, that was a pain, esp. when there was no way to tell which zone your team mates went to, unless they told you.... Then again, there's more than a few times where I accidentally went one station too many and had to go around again
I remember going to Steel Canyon for the first time and getting slaughtered while my tanker and scrapper friends collectively sighed at the reckless blaster that I was (and usually still am)....
I remember when it was 'working as intended' if the mobs were within 3 levels of your characters. Even on a good sized team, it was difficult or downright impossible at the time to complete such a mission (esp. the timed ones, like the one I had against the Tsoo..., dang Yellow Inks, Sorcerers and Ancestor Spirits!).
I remember when people were requesting letters to be added to the chest emblems. When it was announced that the response was so great that the powers that be decided to throw them into the mix, people were emboldened to ask for the Greek Alphabet as well (yay, Vet Rewards ).

I remember:
The sky raider force field generators that would just sit around forever with an unrelated mob in them.
Doing the usual n00b thing standing in the 'out' part of the station wondering why the train wouldn't work.
Not realising there were shops where you could buy enhancements till about level 20, surviving on drops and what contacts would sell till then.

[ QUOTE ]
Regeneration/Fast Healing DOES Stack with Fitness/Health. Quick Recovery stacks with Stamina as well. (Unless otherwise noted, ALL powers stack. In fact, we do not have any code in place that prevents different powers from stacking. The only case that doesn't stack is a power that is cast on the same target by the same caster... like Deflection sheild). These powers are arguably the most effective powers in the game if Enhanced correctly.
Fast Healing increases your Healing rate by 40%. One Generic Training Enhancement will increase that to about a 44% increase. 6 Single Origin Enhancements would increase that to about 120% (so triple the effectiveness of the power or more than double the normal heal rate).
I have changed Resist Disorient to a power called Resilience; Auto: Self +Res(Disorient, Smash, Lethal)
Resilience: "You are more Resilient. This power allows you to build up a resistance to Disorientation effects. You tend not to get Disoriented, and if you do, it wears off quickly. This resistance to Disorientation gets stronger as you go up in level. Resilience also grants some resistance to Smashing and Lethal damage. This power is always on."
Changed Integration to a Toggle
Revive has not caused the Caster to be disoriented in quite a while. You revive with Full HP, but no END, but no ill effects.
There is nothing wrong with Dull Pain. Dull Pain (and other identicle powers by other names in other sets) is very popular and effective. It is not a second rate heal. In fact, it isnt meant to be a heal at all. It increases your Max HP by about 40%. Your current HP bar actually should not move much (if any). Mathamatically, it is best to use Dull Pain when you have a lot of HP, not when you about to run out. If you have 100/100 HP when you activate it, you will end up with 140/140. If you have 10/100 HP when you acticvate it, you will have 14/140.
I noticed many people comenting on powers they have not even tried. Please do not Flame a power if you have not tested it extensively. It does not help us balance anything. I did not change anything for Moment of Glory. I dont remember if Moment of Glory used to disorient the Caster, but it certainly does not now. Perhaps the misconception of the power is its use. It is not a power that is meant to be used before a battle, or at the begining of a battle. That would not be smart since it leaves you with almot no HP. Instead, try using the power when you are about to be defeated. It can turn a possible defeat into a victory.
In short, use Dull Pain at the start of a Battle (or when your HP are high), and Moment of Glory whe are are going to be defeated.
I also changed the order of Regeneration powers to:
Fast Healing, Reconstruction, Quick Recovery, Dull Pain, Integration, Resillience, Instant Healing, Revive, Moment of Glory.
I dont know when these changed will be in effect.

My Gallery (There I am KidRaid since Greymist was already taken)
I also remember when capes were first put on test. They had a few problems:
1. The cape mission was incredibly hard, and very few people could manage it solo (I managed it with my newly-ungimped Dark/Rad defender)
2. The lucky people who did complete the cape mission couldn't afford it since influence didn't transfer over to test.
I still can't believe that people complained about the smoke grenade "nerf". Some people just couldn't understand why the devs wouldn't want a Blaster Secondary power to be the strongest tohit debuff in the game, being 3 times as powerful as the second strongest, which resided in a Defender Primary set.
Rezzing people for 1HP with the old Howling Twilight. It used to suck (see my prior post about the old dark miasma).
Best comedy moment in CoH for me was the council/5th wars on the PI docks. I'm right up the far end playing my granite tank when a squad of 15 or so pops up all armed with their 'slow rifles'. Turning granite off would be instant suicide so I can't get over the lip on the edge of the docks. My powers aren't recharging at all so I decide to run at snail's pace down the docks. At this point I realise I have no greens, I've used earth's embrace and I'm going to die in the 10 minutes or so it's going to take me to get down the docks, even though theyre not doing much damage individually. Then an amused invisible blaster who'd been watching this unfold (they all had the stealth pool pre phase nerf) starts handing me greens, and I duly manage to escape after a total of about 15 minutes.
