Official Thread for Brutes: Electric Shields
The devs will NOT give any brute set end recovery boost or a permanent end cost reduction. Best suggestion that has been made in this thread is the regen boost because anything else and the devs will remove or lower something else.
KB and imm. are not a bid deal - i used to think that toxic wasnt either, but after fighting hellions i went to fight the vahzilok and got my [censored] handed to me, i was popping greens like there was no tomorrow
I logged into my DM/ELEC brute in test and noticed when I upgraded to some lvl 15 DO's that they were only giving 11% enhancement rather than the 18.4% they should be giving.
I have charged armor and static shield and both were onyl registering 11%. I made a post about it in the technical issues forum.
I had not seen anything mentioned about this and hope it's just a small bug and not some kind of /ELEC has to 5 slot shields or something bogus like that. I don't think it is, but you never know...
Just thought I'd mention this.

Resistance and defense are 5/10/20 scale schedule B I think. Those numbers are right sorry.
Ok, then I was very mistaken. I logged in my 40 EM/INV brute to check. I can't believe I never noticed that before, but anyhow, thanks for the correct info.
I just thought it might be a bug and the armor would get jipped on it's real resistance numbers. Apparently not.
Now I feel sheepish...

I just have to say that the instant I turned my electric armor on I had a total joygasm

LMAO...heh, i had a similar experience :P
I've been waiting since release to roll an Elec/Elec anything, since my first (and favorite 'toon ) was my elec/elec Blaster. Heck i would've been happy with an elec/elec Dominator (heh thankfully it's an AT with alittle more SMASH :P)

Heh same here!
think the Charged armore could take abit more damage seems to me that for a melee AT it takes more damage from melee then ranged attacks
we have been giving our opinions and takes on this power set, i was wondering if we could get a "red" answer.
Is the set being changed at all or will it remain as it is?
that is something the community has been wondering for quite a while and would like to know ( for piece of mind)
I am guessing no
The devs are paying attention to these threads and taking things into account. Just because they haven't posted in a particular thread doesn't mean they're ignoring it.
FYI: Electric Shields' Grounding Power will have Immobilize and Knockback Protection added. The set will still not have a Heal power or HP Buff power.

will it remain a passive?
well now we just all have to take aid self and hope our lack of defense lets it go off

Slot for interrupt reduction, and practice a bit. You will learn to use it between getting attacked without trouble.

SWEET! Now I just have to decide Fly or Hover + TP! The lack of heal never bothered me at all. Guess it's Elec/Elec for me now.

3 interrupts works wonders.
I just realized that we not only got Immob and KB protection... but that we got passive Immob and KB protection!!!! That is so awesome.
/elec went from one of the sets with the most status protection holes to possibly the MOST status resistant set in a split second.

Thanks. That is going to add a lot of flexibility to peoples builds, and in turn add a lot of more fun.

Also very excited..this is all the set really needed imho. I'll deal just fine without the heal & toxic def/res. Go _castle_ & bearing good news! (Now how about those PP pet powers eh? )

And that is it's biggest quality/draw now. This definitely warrants the lack of a heal or regen, IMO.

Just for clarification, will Grounded remain a passive or will it be twisted into a toggle? Please say passive!

does it resist confuse/fear?
Okay, lemme see if I got everything right. (Seriously, I'm not being sarcastic, I might be wrong, I don't have the level 38 power yet :P
The deficiencies of the set are as follows:
1) lack of permanent knockback protection
2) lack of permanent immobilization protection
3) lack of permanent toxic resistance
4) lack of a self heal/hp buff. Only Resist based AT that does this.
5) two endurace related click powers.
1, 2, and 3 shouldn't change. Fire and Dark armor have holes in thier status defense, and they can't fix those holes by using a high end click power. We can cover almost all of our holes with a single power. The power claims to give resist to all but psi, so I'm going to assume it also gives toxic resist, but I don't have it to test. And, with the massive buff from that power, we are unlikely to need healing.
That means we can USUALY (not always) solve all of our holes with a single click power. No other set is set up this well. I applaud the devs for such foresight, and the ability to make a set that will really feel very comicy. (They do have the ability to temporarily handle pretty much anything, but won't always be so super-powered)
That leaves 1 of the 5 issues to address. 2 end related click powers in the set. This is far too redundant. I would like to see 1 or the other removed and a heal added, but, lets be honest, thats not going to happen.
What might fly though, and I think would be greatly beneficial is to remove conserve power, and replace it with an auto power, conserve energy, which is an endurance reducing version of lightning reflexes. Thats like 18 or 20% reduction I believe, just slightly better than 1 even level DO.
This lets the devs get away without creating any new graphics. The same power icon could be used for conserve energy as conserve power uses (it is a self affecting end cost reducing power, and would just need to get the A added on mouse over that all auto powers have). There would be no action graphic needed, since auto powers don't have use/activation graphics.
Deficiencies 1-4 that everyone has been complaining about I believe were well thought out design idea by the devs. The 2 end affecting clicks seems a bit much though. Auto one of them, and the set is good to go.
