Official Thread for Brutes: Electric Shields

Hell has frozen over, ProcessedMeatMan isn't being a jerk to the devs all of a sudden

Hey! When am I ever a jerk to the Devs?!

FYI: Electric Shields' Grounding Power will have Immobilize and Knockback Protection added. The set will still not have a Heal power or HP Buff power.
[/ QUOTE ]
Great now since you gave in to whiner's here's mine. Buff Healing Flames to at least equal the 25% that is other sets and give Fire Armor and Dark Armor knockback protection.
[/ QUOTE ]
Healing Flames is already being looked at for fixing.
[ QUOTE ]
I don't see Repel or Confuse resist in there. IIRC Invuln has both of those as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
good poke kinda no res to confuse or repel on invuln eaither... thow no fear res eaither but all far from deadly holes others have outside maybe pvp
The holes are toxic, healing, and the fact that you still need an extra power to get immob/kb. Notice the sets that also need to take a power for immob/kb (fire and dark) get a heal.
has anyone actually tested the Slow resist from Lightning Reflexes? People keep claiming it as this massive plus, but no one has posted anything, AFAIK, about how good that slow resist actually is. We do have a precedent to compare it to: Permafrost is a passive with resist slow, but it sucks major donkey.
that's not the only problem with the set :/

Invuln doesn't have repel resistance?
WHEW.
Guess I have nothing to worry about then

I am glad that the developers have listened to the community in this matter. It makes me happy because now I have reason to consider making an ES brute when I7 goes live. Truly these holes in ELS were worthy of being addressed. Now if we could get some ELM tweaking we'd really be in buisiness.
[/ QUOTE ]
He already said that LR was getting its recharge reduced >.>
[/ QUOTE ]
...That's a start
Right, but you still have to take grounded, same as acro. Sure, now you can take any travel power you want, but it still took just as many powers to get to it. It's a loss. if the immob/kb had been in one of the 3 main shields or even Lightning Reflexes, then the set would be cooking.

Unless something has recently changed, Invul does have Repel resistance. Test it sometime, you'll see.
The KB protection is not Repel protection. Otherwise everyone with Acrobatics would be able to resist it... and we all know that's not the case.

now that you mention it, cant say i've ever been thrown around by the power repel. might be a something they forgot to add to the txt of unyeilding
Yes, those are advantages, as are the resists it gives. But, I'd trade that all away in a second to get free power slot.
Right now IMO there are only 3 possible /Elec builds that won't suck a fat one:
1) non-DM/, take AS and fly. You can get the powers you need to attack and defend, just.
2) non-DM/, no travel power, use swift+sprint+lightning reflexes. End up with an extra power slot, probably used for hasten, or maybe some other utility thing, which is nice, but good luck doing missions on Primeva in the early 30s.
3) DM/, siphon life for the heal and the win, not to mention acc debuffing. Unfortunately, lack of aoes makes lightning reflexes a little less of a factor. Would have outstanding st dps, though. Over time, anyway.

Thought so :/ that's why Telekinesis is resisted completely by Invulns.
Well, at least invulns have ******* defense. Not like Energy Aura. [grumbles about that EA Brute pwning him]

[/ QUOTE ]Fabulous news! I was originally thinking of elec/dark or elec/inv but now I might go fire/elec or elec/elec. The lack of toxic resistance can be covered by bugging a /sonic Corruptor (*ahem* like me) that can give 25%+ S/L/T resistance shield
Hover + tp foe + tp self sounds like a good deal for travel.

ok 1st dont wont to sound like i think elec armor need to be nurfed before it even comes...
am abit confused how ever
Charged Armor - Res to Smahing Lethal & Eng
Conductive Shield - Res to Fire, Cold, Eng, and N.Eng
Static Shield - Res to Sleep, Hold, Stun, End Drain, recovry debuffs, Teleport, and PSI
Grounded - Res to Imm, Knockback, Eng, And N.Eng
lighting reflexes - spd+ recharge+, and Res to Slow
now your saying whats your point? well unless there Resist number are really low witch they dont sound if the baces are really 26.25% witch will enh out to about 41% to everything but n.neg with would total out at 30% make them have 9%ish less S/L then invuln (full sloted autos and toggles) and 22% more to every thing else and 42% more psi (invuln also)
guess my point is that it looks like elec armor is master res to all
i could be totaly off on this but dont seam right there is no holes in it like other sets have
[/ QUOTE ]
I view the lack of a self heal in a set that also has no Defense as a major hole. You can somewhat cover that hole with Aid Self but that takes two power slots, 5 enhancement slots, and Aid Self has an extremely long animation time during which you can't attack anything. Slotting Interrupt reducers in it can keep you from being interrupted while healing, but won't do a thing about the animation time.
dm/elec will be a popular build

And the two power slots thing is going to hurt. Ive tried building Elec/Elecs before. No room for ANYTHING.

Yeah I can see how it'll get pretty tight. I really dislike Aid Self so I'll probably try it out with no heal at all and lean more towards a scrapper playstyle on large teams rather than trying to take lots of aggro.
I was going to skip Elec Armor altogether before, but now that I can make one with my favorite travel power (Super Speed) and not get knocked down every half second I'll give it a shot.
