have not had a chance to play but quick question, do the thugs play more like mercs that prefer ranged attacks? or more like a mix (or do they even have anything for melee other than brawl)
I've only gotten to lev 8 (thugs/TA) so far, but they seem to prefer range like bots and mercs. Their ranged attacks (single and double pistal shot) are slightly stronger than their melee (pistol whip/brawl). They certainly prefer to stay at range for the most part if left to their own devices. I've had to retrain myself to not keep sending them into melee (like I do with my ninjas.)

How come the pistols sound like the generic one that all the low level gang mobs use? I was sorta hoping it'd be more like the one malta gunslingers use, ya know, meatier sounding.
Edit: the one the thugs use, not the pistol attacks in the set

Hey.
I found the coolest animation/emote/bind/macro to go with Dual Wield and Backflip.
Do this to replace your dual wield power button.
/macro DW "e backflip$$powexec_name Dual Wield"
Basically, your MM does a backflip, and fires a shot while still in the crouched position, then stands up straight, no continual hands in air effect of a normal fire.
Try it, looks bad A$$

The Enforcer seems to take his sweet time in cycling his attacks. I think my Tier 1 gets two shots off while the Tier 2 unloades his oozie spray....and waits, and then repeats. The animation for him coming out of the sewers is hilarious though, I love it.

So if people have the Tier 2's up, can anyone tell us what their passive/resistance thing is reading when right clicked? Is it a leadership buff or anything? Any pics or differences between unupgraded and upgraded look?

Anyone else notice when the MM uses his Natural Throwing dagger when the pistols are out, he still holds the pistol?
No wonder he misses so much with the daggers.....
Bothers me about as much as the fact that my ancient medieval knight, without any training with such weaponry, is able to run, gun, shoot, and frag better than most military professionals who spent all their life practicing.

Anyway, its a comic book game, if sharkheaded monsters are allowed, gansta-sideways grip is fair game no matter how silly in RL.
When I used the equip power my thugs changed to the tank tops with tats, which is how I made my character. I was wondering if that's how they all look, or if they try and resemble you a little.
Also, I love how long all the spent shells stay around. If you double back through a long mission you will still see them.

My thug feedback, level 4.
-The basic punk sometimes looks like a cool guy, but sometimes he looks like a really grungy, pot smoking embarassment. I like the randomly generated appearance, but sometimes the appearance can be pretty bad. Suggestion: Remove the nappy looking hairstyles from their possible appearances.
-My pistols are freakin huge. I am a female, with the default height and athletic build. The guns are rediculously gigantic. The handle is way larger then my hand could hold, and it penetrates the geometry of my character. The top part of the gun is no better. It also has a bland white texture, which does not look very gun like. Suggestion: Make the pistols 1/2 scale for female characters, and add a "shiny" effect to them, like the Arbiters armor.
-Lack of resistances scares me. The idea of the leadership bonus from enforcers sounds cool, but I worry that it will be hard to balance against the innate resists of other MM pets. Especially considering that all other MM Pets have their resists in effect at ALL times. From level 1 to 11, my punks will not get to enjoy their passive bonus. If one of my enforcers dies, they lose their passive bonus. What if my punks lose their line of sight to my enforcers? Is this leadership bonus strong enough to compensate for all these weaknesses? Suggestion: Maybe it would be better to give thug pets a small innate resistance to every damage type?
-The summon animation. I think the whistle is apropriate, but the gorilla animation that follows it looks so freakin stupid on my girl. Suggestion: PLEASE change it to something more graceful.
I think somthing like a Cell Phone to call out your Thugs would be a cool idea insted of a whistle.
I just had a friend SK me to level 24 to try out one of the mayhem missions. So I got to see the Arsonist. The mission crashed so I got to see a little of what he could do.
He looks totally different between the other two thugs, I got to see two of them before the game crashed.
When he first comes out he can throw maltov cocktails and when he's given equip he can breath fire. It's an awesome animation too, unlike the normal one that Fire users do he has a lighter and then he shoots fire.
Only problem, he's an aggro magnet, even on Defensive. I had to re-call him three times!
Still looking really cool, can't wait to see the Inforcers!

Your guns look "bland white"? On my MM, they're grey/silver. I'd check your grpahics settings or driver... I've had issues in the past where metallic objects don't render properly...
Well i loove the whole thug idea and so far my only problem i saw from the start was that the "thugs" dont really loook all like thugs to me. They actually look more like Punk Rockers or Potheads (no offence intended). I for one hope that this doesn't start a flame but i'd like to see the thugs look a bit more "urban" or "ethnic". I mean they are thugs the roughest of the rough straight "hood" or "urban" so give em do rags and baggy pants and tanktop shirts and such not Red Hair that is a bad Mohawk or emerald green pants. Until City of Villains came out i for one had a hard time finding an Urban looking npc let alone i dont think i have ever seen an Urban looking Matermind pet ever and i have spawned then dozens and dozens of times. I'd like to see this lot of MM pets dedicated to the small number of urban players who dont get recognized in-game as much
Took me awhile but i finally spawned a thug that looked a lil more urban YaY!! Pretty hard for me to spawn them that way but it's cool they kinda look like me but that Punk rocker seems to come up alot but i guess if you dont like the way one looks that you can just ressummon huh. And i am with the other people about that whistling.Need to get a new emote for the summon. It's annoying and not likely to really happen in the "thug community" I am more prone to the cell phone or maybe even like a pager going off and the character checks his pager and thugs come running.That'd be cool or better still when you try to summon your thugs your character just pulls out his pistol and fires like 3-4 shots in the air like real thugs do and then they come running. Now that'd be sweet and no one would get too tired of that animation.Example....activate tier one summon then Character procedes to pulling out a pistol and goes blam blam blam into the air and then the thugs come running.Shots fired get your butts here my thug homies lol that'd be sweet.
But seriously they need to "look" more like thugs and not weed smoking college students that have bad hair days and cant afford new clothes i mean what is up with those outfits they wear lets get some do-rags and gold jewelry on em and some Jerzies or tank-top's. aka "wife beaters" That thug sumon emote is way worse than any i have ever seen for as emotes go and i seen em all. Oh and for the tier three pet summon i'd like to see it where police sirens sound and then he comes running up and then looks around like he is wondering if the police saw him anyway thats my 5 cents worth
I think a lot of the thug MM stuff is tongue-in-cheek. It's basically like oyu have unthemed skulls or hellions on your team. Also, in the pictures I've seen of the tier 3 thug, he looks pretty "ethnic" to me...

Pistols close-up. They look pretty silvery and gun-ish to me. And yes, they are rather oversized. However, my character is only 5'4" or so and is rather petite, so it's hard to say whether they'd look as huge in the hands of an "average" (i.e. 6')-sized character.
They don't even look that bad from a distance. I don't see any clipping issues either. Actually, such oversized guns fit my character concept perfectly. YMMV
I can see where a character at minimum height and build might cause a problem....
Points on Thugs so far:
1) The pistols, like all other weapons, look ridiculously too large on female models. Good looking models, but yet again comicly outsized for females.
2) Punk's revolver's eject shell cassings with every shot. That is silly. If nothing else is changed before going live, PLEASE FIX THAT. Similarly, I upgrade my Punk's by throwing them a magazine when they use revolvers? The upgrade animtion being identicle to Mercs is troublesome enough. Please change the animation to be; A) Unique and B) logical.
3) Everything else is unbelievably cool. Sounds, animations, powers, everything. Good job.
I wouldn't argue at all, with the upgrade involving tossing them a can. We can pretend it's beer or Red Bull or Ginger Ale or something, in order to stave off any moralistic or censor issues (i.e. "Rated T for Teen, Animated Violence, Drugs and Alcohol") so it'd be okay to be just a generic unlabeled can. It'd be unique, it'd make sense, and it doesn't seem it'd be a lot of trouble to stick a can model in there with the same animation.
What, don't look at me like that...if you made me drink Ginger Ale, I'd wanna shoot somebody too. If it was a Yoohoo can, the Thugs would shoot themselves.
I'm surprised they didn't just give the thugs automatics. When I think gang members, I think automatic pistols, not revolvers. Give the enforcers pistols and make them gunslingers, instead of uzi's
Having the 1st upgrade be tossing the thugs a can of "something" would work, but I think taking a nod to the bot upgrade, and having them get inked by some random tatoo artist would be cooler...

I can't get on the Test server but I approve of the thug appearances as they are now.

Yea, that is what they look like to me as well. Besides their huge size, they are just too white looking. I mean, just look at those screenshots, they stand out as the brightest thing in the image. I am no gun expert, but I know that gun metal comes in two colors, black or shiny silver. I have seen enough shiny armor on arbiters, fortunatas and even my corrupter, to know that these guns can look a whole lot better.
when i was testing this, i was getting a delay with the postol power, power wasset to auto after recharge, it was taking a full secons to go off again, is this normal, or is my compy just buggy?

I haven't noticed this. Mine usually keep both guns out and alternate between shots. Dual Shot, single shot(sideways gun position), single shot(normal) and then which ever one recycles first. They never put any gun away during this until their target dies, but I remember my Mercs doing that, too, so its normal.
