I like the OP's idea of it just being a big red ball in one single zone, with no purpose whatsoever. It's more fun if there's not an actual, set game with actual, set rules and goals. Just a big red ball to knock around if you're bored.
Big red ball idea is pretty good. I could see them actually doing this. It would take time away from real gameplay and grinding which in the end could generate more revenue for the company. (make mini-games in pocket-d)
The ball would consider every attack knockback. For example impale...would no longer immob but knockback(but JUST for the ball) And this would for sure not take any effort on the devs parts at all to just make a simple ball and make it constantly bouncing
I doubt it's that simple. Wouldn't they have to basically give EVERY power a very low magnitude knockback? Low enough that a level 50 brawl wouldn't knock back a level 1 hellion, but still have it effect the ball. I think it would be much easier to just have the ball be affected by every power normally, just give it a high immobilize protection.
It might be easier to give it it's own AI that causes it to move in a manner similiar to a 100% KB attack when it takes damage? Give it something like 1 million hit points with a 1 million hit point regen per second, and mag 50 resist.

I can picture it now: A team of 8 Super Strength tankers/brutes circle the ball, and hit KO blow all at the same time. That sight alone would be worth the $15 monthly fee.

does anyone else see this as the solution to the lack of end game content? I do. I still think a single ball in a single zone with no set rules or purpose is the way to go. if no one touches the ball for a minute or so it comes to a stand still and stops bouncing. Let any games be totally player constructed and player governed.
there should also a BRB option in the arena and maybe a ball in Pocket D as well but as far as regular zones are concerned it should be one ball one zone. This ball should be undamagable and have all attacks just move it. no phasing the ball, no "holding" the ball, just bouncing the ball. every attack bounces the ball. With this a skilled player with a damage aura could possibly be able to bounce the ball on his/her head indefinately or at least until a blaster came by and sniped it.
I want TP Foe to be able to work too. so you can be sneaky.

I think there should be only one ball in each game at any given time but that it would switch zones once each day. Just so that there's a bit of variety in the zones. Or if it's only one zone that can get the BRB then make it Faultline. The terrain would make it quite interesting in my opinion, and it would have the added bonus of increasing traffic to faultline becasue of all the ball-hunters.

Exactly - the ball should spawn in low traffic areas.
or in random areas each reboot. My 2 cents.
