That is alot of pages for a big red ball.....but I want one too , that is once they figure out why I can't log on I tryed all of their "fixes", I wanna play, and I want my BRB!

Actually I'd like it bigger than the OP described... I'd like its diameter to be, say, a bus or two's length. And the amount by which it gets KB'ed would not solely depend on the KB skill, but include, say, the dmg dealt to it, or the speed of the impacting character.
I'd also like to see pedestrians run in terror of the incoming BIG RED BALL!!! and if they're foolish to get trampled by it... BWAHAHAHAHA!! Just knock 'em down flat and have 'em get up again. And if you manage to get the ball away from the pedestrian, they'll come to you and give you an inspiration, as if you had saved 'em from some nameless Hellion.

If they delayed real content 4 months because of Ageia then I hate to imagine how bad the delay would be for anything more than a BRB emote...even a week of dev time is too much time wasted on that I think I'd rather they take BRB Development time and spend it on a reasonable method for Pre-I2 toons to recieve the Isolator badge.

Massive -Knockback, such that the way it's coded any power causes a knockback,knockdown,knockup effect unto it. However to save massive coding headaches I don't think the devs will be able to make it bounce off of buildings, or even the ground itself, but mobs would be able to affect it.
Another issue would be if it generates aggro or not.

Why99%? So that it does actually take damage and so an attack can affect it, if it had 100% I don't think a power would be able to do anything at all to it, or am I just incorrect on my guesses on the mechanics?
Furthermore, to solve the issue of players whose powersets do not actually do any KB, the addition of a min mag of knockback to the orgin minor powers, some of them dont make sense themactically but it's a easier solution then an entire revamp of all powers.

At the moment people are resourting to kicking about rocks and shell casings. We really need the BRB to save these poor people from their BRBless life before they stub a toe on a rock or acidently kick a live explosive tiped round and ruin a perfectly good career in hero work.

Man, how did I miss this thread? Subconsciously I must have known about it, since about two weeks ago I changed my avatar to a really really big, very very hot red ball.
I think one like my avatar is a bad idea to kick around. But this is just a great idea. In case someone hides it, you could have a small red round blinking dot on your map indicating its latest location.

Somewhere in this disturbingly long thread, the devs have posted that the big red ball we all desire will never happen. It has something to do with problems of targetting, knockback, etc. (Although making it a zone monster with no attacks, nigh-infinite regen and <0 KB protection doesn't seem THAT tough to me, I'm no programmer and I'm sure they have good reasons for denying us our fun. )
But as the quoted post notes, we already have kickable scenery in missions. It would be sad not to be able to affect the BRB with powers, but under the theory that any BRB would be better than no BRB- could we at least get a ball that reacts to being kicked/pushed around? The in-game physics already exist as demonstrated by the current kickable scenery- so all they would have to do is make a polygon for it (and you can't get much simpler than a big red ball), turn the friction way down for it so it can "roll" around, and start dropping them randomly in zones. Drop one every hour in the main zones- perhaps more often in hazard zones- despawn when the new ball drops. The only requirements should be low friction and suitable bouncyness. I also personally think they should mysteriously drop from the sky upon spawning, but that's just me.

The ball should be affected my most powers, such as TP foe, inertial dampening, AOE debuffs, etc. To make it fair though, the ball might have to be immune to force bubble- otherwise you just park your FF defender as goalie and watch the opposing team cry. And the ball should have very low, or even negative KB resistance so that even powers without a KB component would send flying back in the direction of the hit. This is such a 5-star, huge fun idea! I don't know why it hasn't been suggested before!
Of course, the OP is right that just having a big red bouncy ball to play with in zones would be fun too, but I really se it taking off as an arena event. Perhaps it could even lure people back to the almost deserted arenas! I'd want one in Pocket D too- that way griefers would have fewer places they could "hide" the ball to deny others fun.

That was pretty much my reaction, too.
All the physics are client side only, and no information about them is passed from client to server -- so, it's strictly a visual on your machine. That means, there is no way for people to play volleyball, or kickball. We could put one in that only you, the player, would see, but I imagine that isn't what everyone would like.

That still means that only people with Knockback powers would move the ball, and it wouldn't have the physics aspects that you'd want, since it has to follow knockback rules rather than particle movement rules. It would not 'bounce' properly off of objects.
All of that said, it *could* be done, but I doubt we have the free time in the schedule anytime soon, and even at that it would be fairly low priority. My guess is you'll see it around the same time as the Giant Tape Worm.

I had a -3 Consigliere toss a generator at my PB last night. I had waaaaaaay too much fun using my Nova form to knock it around. I was quite sad when it clipped through part of a dock and disappeared.
Between that, other battle debris, the laundry on the clotheslines, and the hanging signs... I'm enjoying the new physics stuff quite a bit.
