  1. It would be nice to hear *SOMETHING* about the CoP, it was supposed to be a feature of CoV and now they don't even talk about it.
  2. Grats to RayDay (@Sepiroth) for getting his first fifty, Titan Prometheus!

So...I questioned your statement that a power is useless because a) ONE monster in the ENTIRE GAME can shoot through it and b) it has a 30 second timer, and you responded with that much bile? Wow.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because now that Hami has "adapted" this ability, the door is wide open for other foes to magically "adapt" this ability. What's to stop the devs from giving giant monsters, Lusca, the Ghost of Scrapyard, any/all of the signature heroes and villains, or any number of zone monsters and AVs the ability to ignore phase shift? In a single word: nothing. And the rationale? "Well, they adapted like all living organisms do."

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yeah, they could do that.

They can do anything they damn well want, ultimately.

I don't see them doing that for non-endgame content, because I think it would be stupid.

You may thing Hamidon's design is stupid. I don't, for reasons stated. If things that poke through phase shift and hibernate start showing up in door missions then I'll be on the bandwagon with you.

Simply because they did it in this particular case doesn't mean they're dense enough to do it everywhere.

Personally, I think claims that the new Hamidon is harder are a crock. The new Hamidon reqiuires greater coordination and active participation. If you were there to put powers on auto, then yeah, the new raid is harder for you. I always participated and paid attention at raids, meaning I was one of the people enabling all the akf-ers to get their HO. Nothing much changes for me in the new raid, except perhaps that I will die more often.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I will die more often, but I'm not enabling leechers to get their HO. Good. That's one of the best things about this new change. Now you actually have to work for it, and the people who just leeched are SoL
  5. My newest design on my PVP empath utilizes KB Protection IOs, and the Leaping IOs to buff my jump, and drops leaping in favor of Speed, Fitness, Leadership and Concealment. With a stealth IO and stealth I'm pretty tough to see. Bouncing around like I do, with the stealth I now have, I get left alone more often

PM me if you want to check out the IO build.
  6. I'm very exited, if this is gonna be 35 - 50 I'm not touching my lvl 36 scrapper until this comes out :-D

And hero and villain co-op stuff is something I've wanted for a while. I was hoping that warburg would be co-op if you were teamed but it wasn't so this should be a bunch of fun!

Assassin Strike with Power Build Up Fortitude! hoorah! Masterminds with Regen Aura!! Yippee!! Brutes with PBU Adrenalin Boost!!

    COSTUMES! YAY!

    I'm excited.
  7. I think one of the biggest issues for me is not knowing where to go to get what I need. Say you need a rare magical salvage, you can look in the drops list and see that Carnies, Arachnos and CoT drop that, and so you farm them. But you can farm them for DAYS and not even get a single drop of rare salvage, sometimes you can farm for hours and not even get a single piece of salvage.

And when are they going to fix team drop rates? I like playing buffset characters, I have a lvl 43 Grav/FF who cannot solo and can't get a team because soloing produces better loot drops. Thanks for killing teaming.
  8. I like the invention system, I like IOs, I like the new costume pieces.

I hate the salvage storage limits, the way I have to search for someone everytime my defender gets a drop my blaster needs, I hate the fact that some rare drops are common and common drops are rare. I hate that there are FIFTY MILLION SNIPER RECIPES, and the stupid sniper and pet damage are in the rare recipe pool so that I can't get a good drop for doing a task force. I hate the drop rates in general and how damn laggy wentworths is.

I like that I no longer get kicked out of the base though.

I also despise that there is still no cathedral of pain trial, a touted FEATURE of City of Villains when I dropped 65$ on it, and there's not even ONE POST from a Redname telling me where it is or what's going on with it.

The only thing that's a little puzzling is why so many of the screenshots of them feature the Knives with Void Rifles.

I was a little disappointed the feature picture on the updater had a void hunter rifle instead of a broadsword lol

    "Moral Combat"

    Two words: Parental Responsibility

I played violent video games, I watched the NEWS which can be just as bad, I watched movies and TV shows with violence in them. I know better than to enact that violence on others because my parents instilled in me the value of other peoples lives. I don't need to blame any video game or tv show if I screw up. My parents taught me better than that.
  11. oh! i didn't think of that one, I love the comic font. I'm currently using Georgia and it looks nice, but I may try that.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
when you change the name, don't put in the .TFF cause its already a .TFF file and the game doesn't reconize mont_demibold.TFF. But it reconizes mont_demibold if its a .TFF file

    get it o_0

    just rename it mont_demibold

on another note.. I think with the old font when some one would put in ^_^. The eyes looked kinda weird in the chat windows. But I changed the font to tahoma, and I can see the eyes perfectly

    [/ QUOTE ]

oi, that was it, thanks you guys. :-D
  13. I followed the steps for the font replacement exactly, and I've tried deleting the font folder and doing it again a few times and it still doesn't work. :-/ Lowercase and Uppercase parts are correctly in there also. Not sure what's wrong.
  14. I've followed the directions above and I can't get the ingame font to change, is there something else that might prevent it from changing?
  15. It would be so much easier to post guides if there wasn't a time limit on editing them. >:O
  16. [u]A List of Terms that will be useful to know while reading this:[u]

First of all, this is a picture of what you will be fighting in the hive. Hamidon and his entourage
    Mitos: Floating enemies surrounding Hamidon
Jello: the term used to reference the bluish bubble that Hamidon and the Mitos re inside of
Multi-Target Attacks: Will include the following terms in their descriptions; AoE, PBAoE and Cone, these are attacks effecting more than one target
Assault Team: The group of heroes and heroines following the Follow and clearing Mitos
Healing Curtain: Everyone not on another main team that has an AoE heal such as Healing Aura, Radiant Aura, Twilight Grasp and Transfusion (sorry if I missed any)
Holds: These attacks specifically say ‘hold’ in their description, immobilization and sleep do not work here!! They accept orange enhancements.
HamiO: Hamidon Origin Enhancements, the purpose of the raid this enhancement will modify two or three attributes of a power a complete list can be found here: HO Enhancements

I’ve seen a lot of people at the Hamidon raids that just don’t seem to know what they are doing. In order to try and help these people to not ruin the raid for everyone else, I decided to write this handy guide. This format is based on Pinnacle raids, and other servers may do things differently but this is pretty standard.

First thing’s first, before the raid even begins add the Hamidon Raid Channel and the request channel to a chat box you will be able to see, keep in mind there will be around a hundred heroes at times in the Hive, broadcast and local will be moving right along. I recommend putting them both into one of the numbered tab windows.

On these channels you should be able to find the names of several important people. The three most important people for those not on another main team, are the Raid Leader, Follow, and Targetter. Whoever the Follow and Targetter may be, add them to your server friends list. You’ll then be able to easily find them during the raid.

Those three people, Lead Tank and the PA Team Leader are the only ones who should speak on the request channel during the raid.

Follow: This person leads the Assault team from target to target during the raid. When the raid begins, it’s best to right click their name in your server friends list and select ‘follow’. Doing this will keep you as safe as possible during the raid.

Targetter: Once you are auto-following the Follow, select the Targetter on your friends list. When they announce a target, open fire! This is the best way to take down the targets quickly and with as little aggro as possible from other targets.

Make sure to find out who they are and add them before the raid begins.

[u]Other important teams and people to be aware of: [u]

PA Team: This team is made up of Illusion Controllers, if they don’t all have Hover/Flight of some sort the team will want someone with Group Fly, and usually will also want someone with Speed Boost. They are flown above Hamidon and drop in their Phantom Army to take the first Hamidon aggro, along with a lot of Mito aggro so that the assault team is not destroyed while clearing a wedge for the Aggro Team to set up in.

Aggro Team: This team is made up of a Lead Tank, a Backup Tank and Empaths. As a section of Mitos are cleared out from the jello by the assault team, the Lead Tank will move into position and begin taunting Hamidon. This is to make sure Hamidon doesn’t turn and wipe out the entire assault team as the clear the mitos. Empaths on this team should target the Lead Tank and auto-toggle their Heal Other. Also they should be buffing the tank with Adrenalin Boost. Hamidon does untyped damage so the fortitude buff is useless to the Lead Tank. Do NOT run up to the Lead Tank and drop your RA’s, Hamidon’s AoE can easily kill you. It is also advised that you do not use Absorb Pain because by the time the heal fires off the tank will be hit with sometimes five other heals, and if you catch Mito aggro you will be unhealable. It’s also not a bad idea to have a kinetic to speed boost the Aggro team, and a FF or Sonic to keep their Mez protection on the Aggro team healers. Those two can be on or off the team depending on how many Empaths are needed.

This sums up the people and teams to be aware of.

Once a good amount of people have arrived at the rock, the Raid Leader will want the Healing Curtain started. Everyone with an AoE heal should now put it on auto, and leave it as such until the Hold Phase begins.

*At this point I tend to experience a lot of lag, I recommend turning graphics, details and bloom effects waaay down. The last thing you want is to lag out as Hamidon dies and come back to find you missed out on a HamiO after all that work.*

The Raid Leader may also request that everyone changes into a costume that has no cape and no aura if possible to cut down on lag. If you don’t have one don’t worry, but if you do please be courteous to us folks with slower machines.

Once everything is set up the PA Team will move in and drop their Phantom Army around Hamidon to attempt to take his agro.

The Assault Team will move towards the jello stopping to clear the nearby monsters who will not be welcome inside the jello during the raid.

As the Assault Team moves into the jello there will be a lot of Mito aggro. The further you are from the Follow and the Healing Curtain, the higher the chances that you’ll end up as one of the first casualties.

As you move through the jello you’ll see the targetter announce their target, and the Follow will announce when they are on the move.

The aggro team will be able to move into place once the assault team has cleared a wedge for them to safely taunt from. If they move in to early, the team will end up with more mito aggro than they can handle and will end up defeated.

When attacking during this phase do NOT use any multi-target attacks on the mitos. They will draw unwanted aggro and get you and others defeated unnecessarily.

If you are uncertain as to whether your attack is single target or multi target, view the definition above or go to Atlas Park and find a good sized mob of Hellions, and use the attack once. Count how many take damage/are defeated. If the number is greater than one it’s a multi-target attack and should not be used during raids.

It is important to use holds on the Mitos though, as the mitos can split if they are not held and there will be twice as much work needed for each mito.

AoE Stealth Powers such as Steamy Mist and Shadow Fall, and Persistant AoEs such as Hot Feet, Mud Pots and Lingering Radiation should not be used either.

Stay away from the Lead Tank during the raid, you don’t want Hamidon Aggro, trust me.

If you aren’t the Lead Tank, or Backup Tank should the Lead Tank be defeated, then you should NEVER taunt Hamidon during a raid.

Once the Mitos are completely cleared out the Hold Phase begins. If you don’t have a hold, backup away from Hamidon and wait. Holds are also defined above, and when they are used on an enemy the enemy cannot move or attack.

This phase is vital to the success of the raid. If Hamidon hits half health or lower and the hold is broken, he can and will spawn Mitos. He spawns one Mito for every single person in the zone. Everyone inside and near the jello will be defeated and raids will be impossible until the server is reset bringing the Mito count back down to normal levels.Mito Spawn of Dooooom!

During the hold phase you should stand back to the edge of the Jello surrounding Hamidon unless you have the power Accelerate Metabolism, or a Hold. With enough AMs other buffs are unnecessary, and cause more lag, or can take time away from holding. It’s important to target through a pet at this point so that you don’t lose sight of Hamidon. Allowed pets at the raid will be stated in the request channel by the raid leaders, usually the Singularity, Jack Frost, and the Dark Servant are called for. Other pets should not be brought out.

After Hamidon becomes held and the Lead Tank stops taking damage, they will begin a count down. After approximately five to seven minutes of Hamidon being held they will call heroes forward by origin to take one shot at Hamidon. Every hero can take a hit but it is not necessary to have more than one person on your team damage Hamidon, one person counts for the team. This will ensure that you get a Hamidon Enhancment after the defeat of Hamidon, no further attacking is necessary.

After all heroes get a hit in, Hamidon must be defeated. It is best to not have an attack phase, to minimize the risk of a failed raid. This is especially important if you plan to raid several times a week. Instead of an attack phase, Hamidon is held to defeat. Lingering Radiation is necessary to slow his regeneration and allow the damage of the holds to defeat him. Buffing is also important here to keep the Holders going. Be sure to have an enhancement slot open!

If you have knockback resistance, or toggles you use for fighting activate them just before Hamidon is defeated. As he is defeated he puts out a big time knockback and explodes into tons of Hamidon Buds which are all boss level jello blobs. Attack away and let the HamiO trading begin.

**Ways to Make Yourself Unwanted at a Raid, and Poison Your Rep**
    - Run up and hit Hamidon, then lay dead the entire raid while going AFK to collect a HamiO while not doing any work
    - Use Multi-Target Attacks or summon pets the Raid Leader hasn’t asked for
    - Aggro Monsters and drag them into the jello
    - Taunt Hamidon while not on the aggro team
    - Attack Hamidon while there is no attack phase
    - Use the request channel during the raid if you aren’t a Raid Leader
    - Attack targets other than those of the Targetter
    - Ignoring/Arguing with the Raid Leaders when you are asked to stop your Raid
    - Using Warburg Nukes
    - Constantly shout and people to turn off powers or dismiss certain pets, a polite tell would be much more useful.
Destructive behaviors; Things you think are helpful aren’t necessarily so
***REMINDER*** The list of ways to make yourself unwanted and poison your rep are the things you should NOT do during a raid

As a controller, I would hope you know the difference between Hold/Immobilize/Sleep. Other AT’s I have noticed seem to be having difficulty distinguishing the difference so here is a list of all the non-controller holds available to players:
    Ice Blast/Bitter Freeze Ray
    Ice Blast/Freeze Ray
    Electricity Manipulation/Shocking Grasp
    Ice Manipulation/Freezing Touch
    Electric Blast/Tesla Cage
    Dark Miasma/Petrifying Gaze
    Trick Arrow/Ice Arrow
    Luminous Blast/Incandescent Strike
    Stone Melee/Seismic Smash
    Super Strength/Knockout Blow
    Warshade/Gravity Well
    Flame Mastery/Char
    Munitions Mastery/Cryo Freeze Ray
    Electric Mastery/Shocking Bolt

[u]Insert provided by Call Me Awesome (thanks!):[u]
    Mitos come in 3 types:
Yellow Mitos - these are attack types, and attack with an UNTYPED damage AOE attack that does 700ish points of damage to a lvl 50 toon. Because damage is untyped, defense & resistance do not apply. These attacks seem to be either auto-hit or such high accuracy that they may as well be.

Blue Mitos - these have a stun attack that does no damage, but will stun you if you have no mez protection. To combat this, the mito attack teams have a Force field defender/controller with dispersion bubble.

Green Mitos - these heal the other mitos around themselves, they have no attacks.

    Hamidon himself:
Hamidon has an AOE attack similar to the yellow mitos that does around 950 damage to a level 50 character, and he will fire this attack every 4 seconds. Once again, this attack is either auto-hit or so high accuracy that it may as well be, and defense & resistance do not apply. This is the reason for the illusion controllers dropping phantom army, to keep Hami shooting at the PA instead of the mito clearing teams. DO NOT shoot Hamidon during the Mito clearing phase.

During the mito clearing phase, please turn OFF all defensive toggles, except for mez shields, these have no affect and just add lag. Tanks especially MUST turn off any taunt/damage auras! These include Invinceability, Mud Potts, Blazing Aura, Chilling Embrace & Icicles.

In addition to turning down the graphics settings to minimize lag, you probably want to also turn "show character names" to off, this makes about a 15 fps difference on my system.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
And that’s my guide, you can find me on Pinnacle as @Seyda
  17. Pretty great guide, I have an Emp/Psy and they are both great sets. If you do take Psychic Wail, I reccommend slotting it with 1-2 Acc and 2-3 disorients, the mob will be stunned for a long time and it can be very very helpful when fighting. If you carry a few blues the endurance drain is no problem. I highly reccommend stamina also, if you take stamina you pretty much never need to stop, even with toggles, sheilds and travel powers on.

    Great work.
  18. I've had some horror stories with n00bs, and I've also had some great experiances with newbies. Way to many to detail.

I thought that this was a good description of my experiences with players that aren't quite what someone would think.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Here's the writeup of his speech.

The only thing that jumps out at me - he claims bases are unpopular because people don't like paying money to contribute to group identity. I don't think that's correct. I think they're unpopular because
    1) they're too expensive for casual players, and
    2) they don't have anything to do with our day-to-day activities in CoH/V.

    Now,
    - make them cheaper
    - let us place NPCs, scriptable bosses, and a scripted win condition in them
    - let us open them up to other players to run as missions
    - get raids working
and see if that makes them more popular.

    *waves magic wand*

    [/ QUOTE ]

not only get raids working, but just get the base working in general, I don't want to do several million prestige worth of changes, only to have the base server boot me out and I have to do everything again. Or when I try and use the functional parts of my base, I get inside the base make it partway to the telepad and boom, kicked out again.

In addition to that, I would be more supportive of a base, if all my characters could use the base, and support the SG, which with the current cap on SG members, they cannot, at least not without considerable hassle.
  20. Costume glitches I've noticed that it would be stupendous if they could get fixed up. I am not sure if some of these (like the neckline and ring strap) are also issues on male/huge characters, but here are the issues and corresponding screenies.

    Ring Strap Clipping Issue
The ring strap clips into the back, and if you make the physique and shoulders small the clipping gets worse, and the design gets really distorted.

    Neck/Waistline Issue
This image shows the neckline and the waistline issue, where the skin doesn't seem to line up and it looks like the body is several pieces stuck together instead of one body.

    Female Full Fishnets
When using fishnets on the upper and lower legs, the fishnet pattern doesn't match up, and the diamonds are offset from each other.
    Faded Line top
I've always liked this top, but I've never used it because the very bottom line on the arms is really wavy. I'm not sure if it is supposed to be like that or not, but it looks really wobbly.

Thanks for reading! I'd say Jay is sexy, as per the other people in the thread, and I imagine Jay must be some sort of uber sexy to have 31 or so pages of forum goers announcing it... but I'm sure he hears it all the time
  21. before I became a leaping empath for PvP purposes I was a speedy empath, and did super speed all the way to lvl 49 when I finally said... I WANT VERTICAL MOVEMENT!!! at which point I picked up hover.

I'd like to add that yes there is a downside to accidently landing in a mob with Super Jump, that with two jump SOs in it, it's pretty freakin quick and I wouldn't consider all that much slower than anything else.

If you take conserve power in your epic pool you won't ever need stamina if you slot leadership properly too.

Good guide though ^.^ hopefully we can get some good lowbie empaths now instead of the healing aura on auto and no buffs blender garbage.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
At least you got one point correct. You are suppose to keep moving, but while you are doing that (and also staying at range), you are not giving anyone the benefits of Leadership. You dont need accuracy or damage, cause you shouldnt be attacking. The defense maneuvers gives (even for defenders) is not enough to make any kind of difference. Leadership is amazing for sets like storm or rad or kin, but its a horrible idea for a PvP Empath. You always want to be moving and you dont want to be in the middle of everything.

    [/ QUOTE ]

While I agree that the person who posted their response to the guide with their own guide was kind of a [censored], I have to disagree with your comments about leadership.

I play a PvP Empath in a PvP supergroup, and we often do team PvP and Team Arena Matches.

The strategy is called platforming, we have someone set as a waypoint and we stay close to that person at all times. It keeps us in range for bubbles, an AoE Healing and buffing. Plus its easier to heal, and its much harder to come after a grouped platform than it is to pick off one lone hero running around like a nutjob.

I can post my PvP Empathy build if anyone wants to see it, but I don't want to jack the thread. Send a PM if you want to know how I PVP with my Empath.

    [ QUOTE ]
All of the zones need to be redesigned along the lines of Striga. Each with their own contacts, storyline and missions and probably Task Forces or Trials.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I completly agree with this statement. All the zones have stories behind them so why can't we add in some contacts and TFs/Trials to make the zones more interactive, and make it so more people know the stories.

Personally the Dark Astoria story is my favorite, it's so sad.
