That still means that only people with Knockback powers would move the ball, and it wouldn't have the physics aspects that you'd want, since it has to follow knockback rules rather than particle movement rules. It would not 'bounce' properly off of objects.
All of that said, it *could* be done, but I doubt we have the free time in the schedule anytime soon, and even at that it would be fairly low priority. My guess is you'll see it around the same time as the Giant Tape Worm.

There had always been a glimmer of hope, up until now. I always thought that, somehow, the BRB would be implemented. But no.... I'm a broken man.

Answer = A wood Stick as temp power so everyone could have knockback.
When is this giant tape worm getting put in game? jk Ty for the info Castle.

YES!!! They are planning to make a Giant Tape Worm! I knew it!
A temparary power for everyone that only does knockback. short recycle time. That would even things up a bit. perhaps have the ball unaffected by gravity?
(by temp of course I mean perm)

Seriously, though, I get it and accept it. You can make the ouchie feel better by making a couple of 'red ball' emotes: <ul type="square">[*]one using the snowball animation[*]one with the two-handed forward lunge (re: Power Blast) so we can fake a four-square match.[/list]Both must have that special red rubber ball sound. Must!

It could have been fun to have Signature Characters play with the ball too...Big Red Ball Event A summer game well not this summer anyway.
Positron and Sister Psyche force bolting the ball.

How bout you gain a temporary power if you are around the Ball that knocks it back?

Castle, you are the man for even considering the matter.
That said, schedule shouldn't be a huge deal. There have to be some players who are programmers and would gladly volunteer their time to work on coding such a thing. A few legally binding contracts to protect the game, and you're set. They would probably not need the entire source code for such a simple thing anyway.
Players love mini-games and whatnot. You'd be amazed by how much time we spend on seemingly trivial nonsense and enjoy every moment of it. For example, in DDO, a guildmate and I have this strange obsession with rooftop pioneering, and testing the geometry of the game to get into places we're really not intended to go. Usually, this means we end up on roofs and ledges in the public zones harassing other players with our returning throwing weapons and making them ask how the heck we got up there.
Just for the record, Feather Fall is very handy to have for these endeavors. Sometimes we get into spots that you can't get out of without a looooong fall.
You could include a temp power with the ball that only works on the ball that does a kick with a knockback effect. No damage, decent knockback, but it only works on the ball.
Still, the lack of physics is bad news bears.
Perhaps a Big Red Tape Worm?

does anyone else see this as the solution to the lack of end game content? I do. I still think a single ball in a single zone with no set rules or purpose is the way to go. if no one touches the ball for a minute or so it comes to a stand still and stops bouncing. Let any games be totally player constructed and player governed.

it would certainly be better than the lame-o PvP :P

I understand that content and features take precedence to the BRB, but in terms of community relations, the BRB would generate more goodwill towards the Dev team than any features or content you add. We'd feel loved.

I'm so sad to hear that. I mean, comeon, playing sports with superpowers? The movement powers would probably be the most interesting for a sport, but certain other powers could be very interesting depending on the sport. Try to tackle an eluding SR scrapper in football :P

In spite of the small "confirmation" of the ball not possible to be done. Like anything thats wanted, if people press on with continued support for the Big Red Ball, we'll eventually see it happen. Look where it got us for a "party zone" that heroes and villians alike can meet up together, the elusive Isolator badge for those who were unable to go grab it before cause they were pre I-2 toons. I'm just saying, if you want the Big Red Ball, continue supporting the Big Red Ball. Eventually they will have free time here and there to work on such a feature's mechanics, and ultimately, come true.
