How about adding a special NPC with infinite health but that gets knocked back by any single attack?
I don't think we would be too picky on the physics of it. So make it a big red ball enemy, that has 100% damage resistance, and has no knock back resistance. I realize that those without KB powers would be left out but if you *really* wanted to play with the ball, you could take Kick and have a 1 and 4 chance of making it move.
They can use the graphic of a light form peacebringer inside shining shield but change the blue tint to red.
In fact, a light form peacebringer with shining shield on has pretty darn high resistance to most everything BUT knockback. According to Sherk's hero builder, 3++ resistance slots on light form and shining shield gives 117% resistance to smash/lethal, 81.9% to everything else but psi and toxic.
I understand that NPCs don't have to have those values, but just wanted to throw that into the discussion.
Here you have an existing set of powers and graphics that give the look and feel (with a slight color tweek) of a BRB.
So how about that _Castle_?

How about a REALLY big WHITE ball, say about 12 feet in diameter (or about four meters), like the "Rover" drones from the old TV series "The Prisoner"?
The difference being, you don't go after it, it goes after YOU...
You can run away form it or even drive it off, but you can't really destroy it, and if it scores a "Critical Hit", you're engulfed and wake up in a Council prison cell.
Now THAT would add a little something to the game...
I guess depending on how your mind works, just exactly WHAT it would add would vary with the inidividual experiencing it.

Um.. bullpucky.
When someone knocks back an NPC everyone sees that NPC get knocked back. The NPC ends up in the same spot for everyone. They slide down the same ramp for everyone. In short, all of that physics is happening on the server. The arms may be flailing client side but the NPCs position is being calculated on the server.
Do the same thing for a ball. Create it as an NPC without an AI (it won't run away or try to attack). Then add some code that treats damage done to the ball as knockback. Okay, that last bit might get a little tricky, but my point is that it can be done.
If this ever does get implemented think of the pickup games of soccer in any zone...wormhole will suddenly be the most popular power as everyone rushes to make gravity controllers

I don't see why you can't make it into a Level 1 monster with immunity to all damage and all debuffs and all status effects, but like Gears, vulnerable to Knockback. No attacks and no move, so we could attack it to move it around.

In one zone in CoH (Talos) and one zone in CoV (Nerva) there should be a single big red ball that does absoutly nothing except when you attack it, it gets knocked back a bit. By every attack not just knockback attacks. It cant be destoryed or anything, just a Big Red Ball to hit around, thats it.
How big is big?
Well not huge. Just like 1 meter in diameter. Thats Big for a Red Ball!
The reason for just one and being in just one zone is so you dont run into it every time you log on. Maby you'll only run into it once a month or something, then youll be like "WOW! a Big Red Ball!" then you will knock it around for a few minuties laughing very hard then you will leave saying "What a cool Big Red Ball"
Whats the point?

I don't get it. If I can knock a minion onto a teammate's tar patch, how is that 'client side physics'? Are my teammates not noticing my brilliant play? Is the minion not debuffed by the tar patch for the whole team? Why is the BRB different?

I wish this could be brought in it would create unity amongst the servers and would create a super leauge on the test server. I feel that it could be brought in. If they can make arms flail around after a knockback they can make a big red ball roll.

That still means that only people with Knockback powers would move the ball, and it wouldn't have the physics aspects that you'd want, since it has to follow knockback rules rather than particle movement rules. It would not 'bounce' properly off of objects.
All of that said, it *could* be done, but I doubt we have the free time in the schedule anytime soon, and even at that it would be fairly low priority. My guess is you'll see it around the same time as the Giant Tape Worm.
