Anyway, concerning the Rikti, yes their dimension is separate. And I'm not saying that Tyrant tried to take them over. What I'm saying is the Rikti dimension Statesman went rogue, like Tyrant did. Then the Rikti overthrew him by mutating themselves and since he was the embodiment of a god they now hate all gods.
I'm just wanting some more info on I8 at the moment. We're within two months of the proposed deadline and we haven't heard anything.

Ok, I knew that the part about Rikti being mutated humans was true, but didn't the Rikti start off as an alien race, and use their science to turn the poor lost hobos of the sewers and many other humans, heroes included, into Rikti as well, adding to their ranks? Or were the original Rikti human, and EVERY Rikti is a mutated human? I haven't done any Rikti story arcs, so I don't know much about them. Recently they have been talked about a bit, and it would be nice if someone could post their backstory, or a link to a thread with that listed. Please .

Well, I7's only been released about a month ago. I'd give it at least one more month for more official news.
Yeah, but Positron said August-September for I8. I really want to see what new hero content they have, even if it's just kind of weak sauce moving over of some power sets.

Anyway, we've gotten off the beaten track.
Would someone whose head isn't kind of foggy and in need of sleep care to summarize what we do know and what's conjecture?
I'll start with the easy stuff.
What we know:
There will be a retail box expansion in 07 at some point.
There will be issues prior to the expansion.
These issues will help make the CoH mission structure more like that of CoV and have various other quality of life improvements.
The rewards system will be put in place and all the little emo-kids can finally have their trenchcoats if they've been a long term subscriber.
I8 should have the start of a system to make your characters better post-50, the method is supposed to take more time than just leveling up.
What's conjecture:
The expansion will be called City of Legends.
The next AT will smell of rosemary and do your taxes.
You will also get a real live unicorn if you log in on Statesman's birthday.

I'm pretty sure they do know they are human. Otherwise they wouldn't waste their time mutating homeless people and absorbing them into their ranks. Remember there's a long story line in CoH where there's civil dischord in the Rikti between humans transformed into Rikti and Rikti from their homeworld.
Also we have seen that the Dev's seem to enjoy giving out updates and events based on holidays. Memorial Day and Halloween being the two big ones it seems.
Really just wish the PR machine would start spinning. Especially with Comic-Con just ending, you would think that they had some info coming out.

I thought they would too, but they were tight-lipped about anything not yet on the live server to the point of absurdity. Last year at con they gave us a lot of great info on CoV and would answer specific questions about what was in store, while this year the answers were 'we have many possible things that we're working on.' Rather disappointing and far less exciting then last year.

The mystery is obviously not solved (and cannot be solved because the whole mystery isn't in the game yet), but there are clues, connections, bloodlines, etc. to follow, and I just want to make a personal flowchart to figure out what's happening so far. So, if you believe you know what's happening in this web of puzzles, I would love to hear from you.
Right now, such factions (and people) are (some possibly, some definitely) involved: The Family (notably Emil Marcone), Hellions, Legacy Chain, Dr. Aeon, Luddites, Bat'zul, and the Chidlren of Enos (notably Blaise Celestine.) There are also french authorities which are connected to the Luddities who were against the Children of Enos, they were: Father Martin Henri - the founder of the Luddites, Padre Francois Hardi - a witch-hunter, and Father Gerard Henri, who bound Bat'zul forevermore. My head hurts.. let me get it together. I'm not sure if it's an error or whatever but it's getting really hard for me to distinguish wether or not those three are the same person or different people.
Like I said, there are places, dates, people, bloodlines, and events that are tied together. I'm not 100% sure if the devs/writers made this intentional (or if I'm on the right track by connecting all these clues and relating it to the "great circuit") but hey, if it is, good job to the writers.

Ms. Liberty smashed Thermonuke through the metal of the deck and into the volatile crude below. The villains devastating powers ignited the oil and cracked open the Cairo Queen. Rich oil spilled into the cove, destroying the wildlife and staining the water with thick black puddles that have mysteriously not faded since that day.
The oil slicks cause no real harm but are semipermanent fixtures due to the magic of the event. Only when the circuit is activated will the stains fade.
Seen from on high, the oil spill mysteriously forms the Eye of Horus.
The local Coralax blame the humans for the spill and attack vengefully whenever the opportunity presents itself. They can be found along the beach and in the depths of this cove.

Yeah, I've been trying to figure it out for awhile, but never really connected it because of the lack of resources. Now, I have more resources including the Prima Guide, but I'm afraid even the Prima Guide may still have it's errors.

Martin Henri i know is a decendent of the orignal Father Henri. Gerard Henri and Fanciose Hardi i believe to be the same person and the confusion is a result of an error. As for the connections and the compleation of the ciruit, we've already seen one come full circle. Gadzul led Henri to the Rogue Isles where he trapped Bat'zul in the mountain. Then the Hellions, who were also sent by Gadzul, tried to resummon him. Unfortunantly, there are many other unexplained questions and answers.
As an aside I believe that the BotBS is for both Heroes and Villains due to the Prime Guides wording that Gadzul's intentions are not truely villainous
EDIT: Oh and dont forget than Ms Liberty is the granddaughter of Statesman, who is one of the only two (or three) Incarnates in the world and is therefore very significant in history. And Thermonuke is called an arsonist, so he might have ties to the Hellions, which links another chain in the circuit.

I think it's safe to assume most, if not all, EATs will be released for both sides.
It would be highly unfair if that wasn't the case.
As far as Martin Henri being a descendant, I'm not sure if it's an error or not, but there's a Father Martin Henri who lived at the same time as Father Gerard Henri and/or Father Francois Hardi who first defeated the Children of Enos according to the Lorekeeper plaque in Port Oakes. We all know that the (IIRC) present-day Martin Henri is the leader and founder of the Luddites who used to work for Dr. Aeon. Martin Henri's nightmares of demons and such things, along with dreams of a familiar old man, these visions causing him to awaken some powers in him. Familiar old man? another mystery.
I have connections supporting who's done what in regaurds to Father Gerard Henri, Father Francois Hardi, and Father Martin Henri (and more - way more.) I'd post my findings but it's not yet complete and some things need to be cleared up because it's confusing as it is already.
PS -- I think I've collected all that I can, so I'll post them soon. Despite the confusing text and content, anyone who's up to date can probably sort them out. Right now, I'm just connecting events, making a literal flowchart.

One says that the Children of Enos were "defeated by a team of heroes lead by the famous Father Martin Henri" (direct quote) Another one says that they were "brutally repressed by the notorious witch-hunter Padre Fanciose Hardi" (direct quote)
Finally Bocor's arc gives the name of the owner of the journal as Father Gerard Henri and says that the journal talks about "a great battle and sealing a demon away" (direct quote) Let it be noted that his first name is only said once in the entire arc and he is referred only has Father or Padre Henri. Let it also be known that this is the Henri that was referred to the Rogue Isles by Gadzul.
The Prima Guide said specifically that the Children of Enos under Celestine summoned Bat'Zul, who was imprisoned by Padre Hardi (no first name), tha same person who cleansed Fort Hades.
So in conclusion there must be an error somewhere, because all sources contradict each other in some way. There cant be three different priests that have visited the Rogue Isles at different times. It seems to me that there is only one priest, with me leaning toward Franciose Hardi due to a bit more evidence.

Actually, some sources say it's Father Martin Henri, while some says it's Father Francois Hardi.

those who first chased the Children from France, revealing their location. Within months, French
warships appeared on the horizon and musketeers stormed the Childrens camps.
Several refugees found their way to Celestine and told him of the horrors taking place on the other
islands. Realizing his was a losing battle, Celestine accelerated his studies by making a direct plea to the
dark powers.
The bloody history of the island and Celestines own limited research were almost enough-but not
quite. He realized he needed a sacrifice. Celestine fretted and delayed, driving himself mad with the
realization of what he must do. He almost waited too long-a landing party of French soldiers came
ashore and drove the few remaining cultists up the slopes of the islands volcano. Celestine made up his
mind as follower after follower died. At the top of the mountain, he grabbed his remaining companion-
his own daughter Daphne-and threw her into the volcano.
Form the mountain rose a massive demon, summoned by Celestines prayers and sacrifice. It was
BatzUl, a horned terror from the lowest bowels of the pit. Without the proper binding rituals, the demon
was free to do as it pleased. Its first act was to devour the foolish Celestine.
The soldiers fought well, but BatzUl slew most of them and allowed a few to escape only so they
would bring more back. They did, and those were slaughtered the same as the first.
The demon could not leave the island-Celestine had managed that much-and the locals had no
interest in venturing to its hellish domain. So BatzUl raged and burnt the landscape to cinders.
Years later, Father Hardi, the same priest who would later cleanse the fort at Port Oakes, put together
a band of blessed adventurers and ventured to BatzUls domain. While the adventurers held BatzUl at
bay-at great personal cost-the ever-prepared Father Hardi enacted a ritual he had researched long
before setting foot on the island.
BatzUl was cast into the volcano, and its vent was sealed by Hardis powerful magic. The peak took
on the shape of BatzUls massive head. The lay of the island beneath the horned mountain caused
later settlers to name it Cap au Diable, or the Cape of the Devil.
Years later, the capped volcano still burns hot. The people know it is a dormant volcano but few
believe the tales of cults and devils, and have no rational explanation for its bizarre shape.

Any shards of Red Coral Crystal must be turned over to Arachnos to prevent this illegal practice from causing trouble again.

This old handwritten book is the personal journal of Padre Hardi, a jesuit priest who came to the Rogue Isles hundreds of years ago. There are lots of notes about the land and people he met there, and then the entries start to become strange, talking about a great battle on the mountain and sealing a demon away. One thing that sticks out to you is that the first few entries start right after Padre Hardi left Egypt after getting some clue about the island from a mysterious source there.

III. Luddites' History (CoV website)
Predisposed to distrust technology of any kind, the futuristic technological advances brought to Cap au Diable by Dr. Aeon have sent the Luddites into a frenzy. Originally a ragtag band of unorganized activists, the Luddites have coalesced around a cause, prompted by the construction of Dr. Aeons Power Transfer System. Convinced that all advanced technologies are dangerous, the superstitious Luddites make the wild claim that the PTS actually draws its energy from a demon entombed in Mount Diable!
The leader of the Luddites is an eccentric and charismatic man named Martin Henri. Once a low level programmer for Aeon Corp, Henri quit when he suddenly began having vivid dreams about the evils of modern technology, tormented by thoughts of Dr. Aeon in league with demons and monsters. Henris nights are also haunted by spectral images of a familiar old man, encouraging him to become the leader of the Luddites, telling him that he is destined to destroy the PTS before it can unleash ruin upon the island. These intense nightmares have caused him to manifest minor superpowers based on his impassioned charisma, helping him recruit followers and allowing him to imbue them with a healing purity of spirit.
Unfortunately his dreams have also driven him mad, and Henri now spends his time babbling entrancing but disjointed sermons to his growing number of followers. Some of these supporters are former IT workers who have grown to hate Dr. Aeon. Others are street thugs and vagrants longing for a cause to believe in.
Without a formal base of operations, Henris followers can be found wandering the streets, alleyways and forests of Cap au Diable. Able to blend in with the homeless population, the Luddites use their anonymity to further their anti-technology agenda.Whether openly protesting and passing out fliers to raise awareness, secretly destroying parts of the PTS in darkened alleyways, wandering Vagabond Hills listening to an inspirational speech by a Luddite friar, or even attacking those who interfere with their plans, the Luddites endlessly struggle to bring down Dr. Aeon. Desperately hoping to protect the innocent citizens of the Rogue Isles, Henri and the Luddites will stop at nothing to destroy the PTS, even if that means resorting to violence against those who aid Aeon and his benefactor, Arachnos.

Blackbeard himself captueed this fort in 1718. He tortured and killed the ill-prepared French soldiers manning it, leaving behind legends of ghostly hauntings that still persist to this day. Father Martin Henri, a famous adventurer of the Rogue Isles, is said to have hallowed the fort by day, but there are rumours that the spirits return to the fort by night.

According to entries in the Journal, Henri came to the Rogue Isles in response to tales og a demon-worshipping cult called the Children of Enos. he arrived to find both the Cultists and the garrison sent to fight them wiped out. There are pages missing, but what's left talks at great lengths about the preparations Henri and his cohorts went through to face something the Cultists had summoned from the depths of the netherworld in their desperation. Something Henri felt was too powerful for him to destroy, but could be contained within the mountain. Something called Bat'Zul.

Henri performed an exorcism in an attempt to banish these spectral forms. When he finally finished the ordeal, the spirits were laid to rest.

I. Oil Spill's History (Prima Guide)
Gadzul Oil is a petroleum company headquartered out of Cairo, Egypt. Secretly, it is a pawn of mysterious forces that have yet to come to light, but most of its operations are aboveboard and reasonably honest. The owners are not true villains, after all-they just have their own agenda. Part of that agenda is creating a kind of supercomputer, a blend of actual electronic components as well as geography, bloodlines, and even events that complete a quasimystical circuit.
One of the events required for completion of this circuit was a massive oil spill just off Port Oakess docks. Three years ago, Ms. Liberty came to Port Oakes to arrest a super-powered arsonist named Thermonuke. The two flyers fought all over the island, but their battle royale ended on the deck of the Cairo Queen. Ms. Liberty smashed Thermonuke through the metal of the deck and into the volatile crude below. The villains devastating powers ignited the oil and cracked open the Cairo Queen. Rich oil spilled into the cove, destroying the wildlife and staining the water with thick black puddles that have mysteriously not faded since that day.
The oil slicks cause no real harm but are semipermanent fixtures due to the magic of the event. Only when the circuit is activated will the stains fade. Seen from on high, the oil spill mysteriously forms the Eye of Horus.
The local Coralax blame the humans for the spill and attack vengefully whenever the opportunity presents itself. They can be found along the beach and in the depths of this cove.

(a) I have need of an expedient mechanic to carry out a bit of work for me. There's a book which I have an interest in. Or really, there's a spell on a book that interests me. You see, Gadzul Oil, the owners of that oil-leaking refinery on the coast, had a long running deal with the late and lamented old man Marcone to continue their operations without any trouble.
Now that he's dead and the Family are fighting amongst themselves, the Gadzul Oil coproration has been trying to renegotiate a workable deal with one side or the other. Right now they're trying to make a deal with Emil Marcone and have sent him a little gift as a sign of goodwill: a rare book dealing with the history of the Island.
This is all unremarkable except for one thing: The book is enspelled. It makes the posessor more... pliable to those who know the right kinds of magics. If this were revealed, Gadzul would find themselves in a great deal of difficulty. And if that book were in my possession they would have to pay a great deal indeed to avoid it being revealed.
(b) The letter is written on the stationary of the Gadzul Oil corporation. It details the history of the book Gadzul Oil presented Emil Marcone. The book was called 'The Journal of Padre Gerard Henri', and it detailed some fantastic events and adventures of Padre Henri in the Rogue Isles back in the 1600s. The letter stresses the book's rarity, age, and value, and makes a big point about how it is meant as a sign of respect for Emil and his family.
(c) Still no book? And now the Legacy Chain have involved themselves due to the bumbling of those Hellion fools no doubt. Well, well, well. Perhaps this 'Duke Mordrogar' character is a good lead. You may not have found him, but you've found out where he's planning that little ritual.
Which is another disturbing point. I'll look over the notes you gathered and see if the Hellions were really onto something, or are just deluded fools who were unfortunate enough to get in your way. I admit that I find the latter concept ironically delicious, but you never can be sure in this line of work. There's too much synchronicity. For example, I discovered that the Hellions were hired to come out here. A firm based in Egpt hired them to set fires in the area. Note that Gadzul Oil is also based in Egypt. All very curious, but perhaps meaningless. Perhaps not.
(d) After you defeated him, 'Duke' Mordrogar started babling incoherently: 'I understand now. This was all arranged. Our hiring, Gadzul, the fires, Bocor and his blackmail, even you stopping us. It's a connection, that' what they wanted! I see it all now! I have seen the great circuit! The shape of the oil sees only the truth! It is the struggle! The circuit, the connection, it is all the blood of the black stream!
He just started laughing incoherently after that. You really aren't sure what he was talking about, but the mad light in his eyes made it hard to forget.

Duke Mordragor returns in a later Arc from mage killer as the vessel for a CoT. I will look over the story acr and see if there is anything that touches the BotBS, Gazdul, or such.

And concerning the I8 stuff mentioned in the interview, I'm thinking that it's mostly going to be the revamping of Boomtown and Faultline, possibly adding missions versus Arachnos and their agents there, since there is at least one mission where you go and destroy rebuilding supplies/mess with a construction site in Boomtown.
The interview does make mention of another faction stepping in to take advantage of the fight between Arachnos and Longbow, my money is on the Council. They seem to be the little para-military darlings of the game and since they are seen at all levels it would make sense for them to want to carve more space out. Rikti are too weak right now and I think everyone is a little tired of the CoT, those right there are the big three. I suppose it could be mentioning the BotS coming in for that, but I doubt they'll show up just yet.
Unless of course they show to try and prevent certain things from going on in Boom or Fault as part of a destroyed area is needed to fulfill part of the circuit.

Well, this 'supercomuter' is really hard to make out, because it's obivously not an actual computer, so if we had to guess, I'd assume it's web of conspiracies with a hidden agenda leading to one big event.

They're talking about the 5th Column. There's no one else it could be.
As far as revamping zones, Positron said that those features will be done in I9, and I8 will feature other things, a little bit more hero oriented, and is going to be focused on base building. That's not to say that it will be *all* about bases, but I assume the devs really want to get the feature to expand with the CoP trial and IoPs for raids and stuff.

Ah, as far as I know, the Rikti Dimension and Praetorian earth are totally differnet universes. Its been explictlly stated that its currentlyl impossible to get intot eh Rikti Universe, as there's some sort of magical barrier preventing magical travel- and we hop into Praetorian Earth all the time.
Oh, in regards to the Nictus discussion earlier, I just recentlly went through the arc: Nictus hosts need to be willing for Nictus to properly bond with them. However, the Council engages in various drug, mind-control, and torture techniques to make the human subjects submit to Nictus bonding and control, and are working on techniques to force bonding without willingness.
Warshades and Peacebringers, of course, are completelyl willing bondings without coersions, and neither mentality has dominance (Unlike Nictus, where the energy-being is always in control.)
