Hey yall, I'm a four year CoH vet, been away for about a year now. I've decided to make my triumphant return to glory (or a level of decided anonymity) and I am looking for a good group of solid, close-knit players on the Hero Side of Virtue. I've always loved this server, and I have three 50's here (Scrapper, Stalker, Warshade).
I'm seeking a group that's dedicated to having fun, and is fairly small; I'm seeking a group of mature, enjoyable guys to kick back with for a few hours.
Time Zone: Pacific
Hours a Week:15-20
Preferred Times: Really whenever, I'm in college so I have flexible hours.
Thanks, I look forward to working with some great heroes. -

Or have a blaster (like positron) that has teir 9 scrapper defensive powers... If you had a blaster and wanted some more defence you could pick up some scrapper defensive powers, or tank for that matter.
Woudn't it be cool as a villian to be a Assault Rifle / Traps / Thugs Mastermind EAT? Think of all the cool guns?
[/ QUOTE ]
While I agree wholeheartedly that it would be terrific fun, having a Tier 9 defensive on a Blaster would, IMHO, be terribly overpowering. And besides, wasn't getting what your AT lacked the raison d'etre for Epic Pools?
I think, with what we've been shown of the invention system, its safe to say that will be the bulk of the "Improve your 50 Phat Lewt" that Posi was talking about in the Boomtown interview a while back, and that Incarnates will be a whole new EAT.
And remember, whatever the new EAT is it will most likely be attainable for both directions of the moral compass. Anything else would ignite the forums with flames not seen since the time of Nero (or at least ED). And Posi has repeatedly said that Heroes will be working with Villains to battle a super threat, which I can only imagine will coincide with the new EAT. -
[ QUOTE ]
It's far too early to say. I mean, this super computer is one big conspiracy. I tried to solve it (read a few pages back) but I ended with somewhat of a cliffhanger or dead end. That, and there's not that much clues to speculate upon the fact that they might achieve this supercomputer for the I8-I11 story.
I8 should start off the story, and we should be able to tell who's connected and what's happening by then. Maybe we can even predict more accurately if there will be an EAT involved.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ya Ocean, I was just wildly speculating. But about the EAT, I get the feeling there will be 2 involved, the first being the Nictus for Villains because they were getting in here 'ASAP' which to me means I8-9, and that part of my storyline idea seemed the most probable way to bring back the 5th, introduce Nictus to Villains but still have them semi-affiliated with Arachnos, and do something with Reisch, all things they've stated as wanting/have planned to do.

i want to see BotBS now, because i'm excited about a tech EAT.
[/ QUOTE ]
Forgive me if I'm ignorant, but I was under the impression BotBS were magic themed.
And now for some super wild speculating!:
As far as the storyline, maybe they will use Reischman. Somehow the 5th manage to regroup under a new leader and, with Arachnos' help, they bust out Reischman, thus bringing back the 5th, as well as making a good case for bringing Villainous Nictus as an EAT and why they are working for Arachnos (at least partially). This is I8 or I9.
In I10, Recluse decides he wants to use the Rikti threat against Paragon, and finds a way to reopen the portal. He underestimates the Rikti however, and the Rikti homeworld is opened as a zone. This zone would be the "heroes and villains fighting togethor" zone previously mentioned. The T/SF in this zone reveals that Hero-1 (the one that went with the Omega team, I always forget which variation on his name that is) is alive, and he helps on the last mission against a high-ranking Rikti leader. Hero-1 returns to Earth and gives his sword (Excalibur) back to Ms. Liberty and goes into semi-retirement.
In I11, we find that Excalibur and Reischman were the last two pieces to be used in the Gadzul oil Supercomputer, and that with these events coming to pass it is finally created. This unleashes the Gadzuls, an Egyptian-themed villain group. These Gadzuls use the souls of Supers to create the BotBSs, and as such they attack both Paragon and the Rogue Isles. This creates a new TF for heroes and a new SF for villains that ultimately unlocks the BotBS (unlockable for both heroes and villains that finish the S/TF, as the BotBS are newly created and are freelancers, so some choose good and some evil).
See? Ridiculous, outrageous, and highly improbable! And it makes the fun new EAT! -
Hey ocean, what arcs give you these clues and such? I've got a new character going and I'd like to run them to get all the info I can.

[ QUOTE ]
You aren't getting what I'm saying. I'm implying that at one point in time the Khelds were going to be a retail box called City of Shadows, in play testing or whatever though the dev's said, "You know, it might be better if we release these as a reward for getting to 50 instead." Thus keeping with the theme of the issues where they are rewarding long-term subscribers over trying to just bump cash out of them and hope for resubscribes via an expansion pack.
So they scrapped a City of Shadows retail box, possibly to come back later. Again, this is conjecture and it doesn't really figure into the other conjecture we've got going on.
[/ QUOTE ]
Any chance this will happen with the retail expansion box next year, or is the release already set?
Also, anyone know the official name of the expansion box? -
Both of those are also very likely ideas, seeing as the Rikti Homeworld zone was very poplar, as well as the hints that we may be seeing Hero 1 again. Rularuu also seems likely because the devs have wanted to do more with the Shard, and the CoP is supposed to go live eventually. They could definitely coincide the 2.
The other common foe we could have is some sort of 5th Column uprising from either the Nazi World or from within the Council. This could make sense because the devs a)were toying with giving Nictus/WS to villains, and the storylines could conincide b)the devs want to eventually use the whole Reichstman storyline. -

Is there an eta on the transcript? Would be fun to read
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry about that, I had to work this weekend. I'm cleaning up the file now, and going through it so I can begin transcribing. I'm hoping to be finished tonight.
Hope being the operative word...

Don't mean to be a pest but, was wondering on eta again
Or is it not going to happen

That link appears to be broken, at least for me. -
I demand a transcript! And don't forget the new cover sheets.
-
Just checking, are you still working on the transcript?
-
Woah woah slow down.. where does it say that badges will be the req for unlocking an EAT?

I don't have the Redname quote, but I thought Incarnates were going to be a new EAT that, from what we have gathered, will most likely be the new EAT with the expansion box.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, just like what I said in the previous post about Positron saying the expansion box will further the "making your lvl 50 better and better..", since the Incarnate concept is basically (from what we know of) an upgrade-reincarnation.
So yes, it's very likely that it will be the Incarnates for the expansion box.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok. I was under the impression the Incarnate would be an entirely new EAT, rather than simply an expansion of a 50. (I personally liked the idea of making it an epic Origin that someone, sorry I forget who, posted). -

Just wondering if the numbers have been given as to the magnitute of the Ghost Widow hold,Soul Storm.
Quick follow-up question Mr. President: Would it be worth dropping Eagle's Claw for the power? -
Nerfs will come. So enjoy the fact that your the best build in the game in the meantime.

My opinions on creating an MA/EA or any stalker for that matter. Im gonna run down powers and give them a 1-5
, then talk about some good power pool powers.
Martial Arts
Thunder Kick -Quick attack time, low damage, and a chance for a disorient. This will be needed at low levels, where there are fewer attacks, but I suggest respeccing out of it to get Cobra Strike. Rating:
Storm Kick - Your basic attack. Mod damage, mod recharge, no special effects. I used it extensively at low levels, and I find it comes in handy later on too for extra 4th power. Definitely take it as your first MA attack, then its optional to respec out later on. Rating:
Crippling Axe Kick- I didn't take this till I got into the mid 20s, and boy was that a mistake. The highest damage out of the first 3 strikes in MA, plus it drops flyers (great for pvp), slows, and occaisonally immobolizes. Only thing I see wrong is it doesn't flow graphically with the rest of the set. O well. Pick this up and use it.
Assassin's Blow- AKA I can now contribute to the team. Pick it at 6, six slot it, love it.
Focus Chi (Build Up)- Cool name for build up. If you dont know by now its one of the 4 core stalker powers. Get it, and 3 slot it for recharge. Rating:
Placate - Another core stalker power. Gives a chance to get an extra crit, or an extra AS for that tail end mob. Also gives you the ability to deal even more damage in groups. And a great O <States doesnt like these words>.Get it as soon as its availiable, 3 slot it for recharge. Rating:
Cobra Strike- This power is not an attack. This causese the target to be disoriented. Very little damage. I love this power, helps in PvP and PvE, though I've seen builds that use Eagles Claw/Thunder Kick for their disorient needs. I would suggest taking this power, as it helps get off AS, especially in PvP, but its not necessarily mandatory. I would suggest 2/3 slots for acc and maybe one or 2 for recharge if you got em to spare. Rating:
Crane Kick- Now we get the good attacks. I took this as soon as it was available, because I had only 2 low damage attacks before this. High damage plus knockback. Also it looks good. The knockback can be annoying, but if you know how to use it it works wonders. I would definitely get this. Rating:
Eagles Claw- The best attack in the set. This is madatory, I don't care what your build is. It looks spectacular, plus gives a disorient occaisonally. And it can occaisonaly crit without you being hidden. Take this, and you should probably six slot it. If you only take one power from MA (other than AS, BU, and Placate) take this. Rating
Now on to EA
Hide- Have to take it. Learn to love this. Ive heard that it should be slotted for recharge. I didn'd do this but I've heard it was effective. Either way, this power makes us. And you have to take it. Rating:
Kinetic Shield- The only lethal/smash shield we got. Get it, slot it. Your gonna need it. And it defends against ranged and melee with one shield. Maybe 1or 2 end redux, and 1 or 2 def enhancers. Rating:
Power Shield- This is a good power, but it can be skipped until the mid 20s or so if you want. You will need it after that though. Take it sooner or later and slot it the same as kinetic. Plus the resistance to debuffs helps more than you think. Rating:
Entropy Shield- This power is great. I seem to see very little love for this power. Resistance to Knockback, disorient, hold, sleep, and immobilization. This power rocks, and I suggest getting it mid teens if you can afford it. Base slot (or one more if you have end problems) with end redux. Rating:
Energy Protection- An auto power. I've never been a fan of auto powers. They offer less defense, and in an MA/EA build end isnt usually a problem. If you do however run into end poblems, you can drop energy protection and get this, or if you feel you need the extra protection get it. But if you only want one energy protection power go with Power Shield. Rating:
Repulse- Creates a field that violently repells foes. This power is really only good for PvP that ive seen, and then only after AS. I don't personally like it, but if your going for a PvP build it might be worth it (it detoggles I belive). Might want to slot for end redux on this too, and maybe 1 or 2 acc. Rating:
Energy Drain- This power really helps if you have end problems, and if you slot heavily enough it can be devastating in PvP. I use it moreso in PvE, especially against those nasty nullifiers while grouping. If you want a PvP build, slot 2 or 3 end modifiers into this, to drain as much from your enemy as possible. Rating:
Conserve Power- I'm not a big fan of this power. If you need end, take it. Otherwise, I get more use out of Energy Drain. If you do get it, might wanna slot some recharge redux. Rating:
Overload- Amazing. Elude+Temporary God Status. This is amazing solo, group, PvP, PvE. Get it as your last power, and as a treat to yourself for getting to 38. Six slot to your preferences, though I'd go with 3 recharge.
Rating:
Power Pools:
First off I'd say Fitness to Stamina is reccomended, though with some clever slotting and conserve power/ energy drain you can get away without it. I find its better to slot for def/damage/acc and just take this, but its up to you.
Concealment - Stealth - This is a must have in PvP. I see no use for it in PvE (unless youve got a corruptor throwing you mad end recharge and want more def). I just base slotted it with def. If you are never going to PvP you don't need it. Otherwise, its mandatory.
You can go farther into that power pool too, PS is a great O <States still doesn't like these words> power. Hopefully it will be un-nerfed, at least in PvE. Invisibility is also nice, but its a tad pointless with hide/stealth.
Leaping- This is my travel set. I went with combat jumping for some extra defense, then SJ.
Super Speed- Hasten and Superspeed are the powers here. I like both of em, and SS really helps stalkers to stealth through those paper missions. Hasten also is nice to get as/bu/placate up faster, and its my reccomendation if you get SS. Warning: The rogue Isles are not fun to SS through, and you may want another travel power.
Teleportation: TP Foe (PvP) Recall friend (PvE) Teleport. If you PVP alot, this is the set for you. Get in quick, get out quick, or use tp foe to wreack havoc. Also, if you have a stable PvP group that knows what their doing, TP Foe + Group Teleport is a great tactic.
Other notable sets : Leadership, Medecine, Fighting. They have their uses, though never took them.
And theirs my guide. Hope everyone likes it. -
I am of the mindset that stalkers are perfectly balances as in PvP wise. We can kill squishies quick, but we do have lower defenses than scrappers, testing shows that. We are weak PvE wise compared to what brutes/corrupts/doms contribute to groups, but hey, thats the price we pay. And this coming from someone who mostly PvEs.
However, if we do get nerfed, it will be great because now, after we watch the month of whining and DOOM crying on the boards, then we can watch another month of critizing Statesman for nerfing an AT based on pure PvP balance, where he said he would never do that again (or something along those lines). I know I don't want actual, useful information on MY boards. -

Illu Troller: OMG!!! NO FAIR! He can use the IR goggles+Tactics and see through my Superior Invis! That's not fair!
I guarantee this will happen.
[/ QUOTE ]
I can guarantee it wont.
Villains took Siren's a few times on Virtue.
No IR goggles in the villain store.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep. My VG took it once when I was there. Nada IR goggles.
Anyway, as a stalker, I feel the only ones really at risk of being 'one-shotted' are trollers who arent in an average grp (and, just going back and looking thru all the con powersets, they each have some way to avoid it.) And i will be the first to admit it, holds are very gimped pvp wise and will always be unless they get an acc buff or breakfrees are removed. Sorry, thats the way it is. But, if your in a pvp zone without a group, you deserve to be killed.
Now, having said that, any semi-organized grp of 3 or more will, odds are, have someone with an aura/leadership/something that helps against stalkers. And, if you are in a big battle, chances are theres enuff auras to keep us unhidden. Its only when you go along the fringes by yourself without a stalker-counter power that you get in trouble. And thats your fault.
