Guide to Upcoming Epic Archetypes (I6)
Disclamer - I can't spell... and I have not fact to backup these thoughts or opinions.
here is my random thought of what I think the top end EAT or incarnet should be. As stated it's a "highbrid". So you take your lvl 50 character... Do a SF that gets you in contact with a god or whatever godly type artifact that gives you your powers. Minimum lvl to do the strike force / task force is 50. The reward is Your character opens up 10 virtual levels, and you can choose a new power set of your choice. (NOT a power pool a power set)
For example. If you wanted a tanker that had some ranged attacks you could chose a blaster primary as your highbrid power. Since it's "like" statesmen he is a tanker... that has a blaster nova that takes not endurance... However I wouldn't expect the devs to give us unlimited endurance so I would settle for a tanker with a blaster nova that does take endurance.
Or have a blaster (like positron) that has teir 9 scrapper defensive powers... If you had a blaster and wanted some more defence you could pick up some scrapper defensive powers, or tank for that matter.
Woudn't it be cool as a villian to be a Assault Rifle / Traps / Thugs Mastermind EAT? Think of all the cool guns?

While I agree wholeheartedly that it would be terrific fun, having a Tier 9 defensive on a Blaster would, IMHO, be terribly overpowering. And besides, wasn't getting what your AT lacked the raison d'etre for Epic Pools?
I think, with what we've been shown of the invention system, its safe to say that will be the bulk of the "Improve your 50 Phat Lewt" that Posi was talking about in the Boomtown interview a while back, and that Incarnates will be a whole new EAT.
And remember, whatever the new EAT is it will most likely be attainable for both directions of the moral compass. Anything else would ignite the forums with flames not seen since the time of Nero (or at least ED). And Posi has repeatedly said that Heroes will be working with Villains to battle a super threat, which I can only imagine will coincide with the new EAT.
Hey, some random thoughts from the New Faultline article.
It's been speculated constantly over the forums that a space zone is soon to arrive. Rocket launch pads being constructed in CoH and CoV, possibly for i9 or maybe i10-11. The devs said they began the massive storyline in i8 and will end it with i11. Well, not many people see how this storyline is starting.

Experts believe that strange seismic activity on the moon created catastrophic tidal surges on Earth, causing the Overbrook Dam to burst.
[/ QUOTE ]
These lends wind to those who believe the moon will be a new zone.
[ QUOTE ]
The Lost (for very specific story reasons) will be added to Faultline.
[/ QUOTE ]
This lends wind to the fact that many people believe the Rikti will be "the enemy the heroes and villains have to band together to fight". The Rikti are definitely involveed with the moon, and since they are what has created the Lost...
This is the only thing I can possibly think of to start on the i8-11 storyline, and it all fits fairly well.
Not about EAT's, but worth mentioning, for the sake of future speculation.
Yeah, but they also said a ways back that they wouldn't be doing anymore achive (x) level to unlock, and now its being said a lv 50 villian will unlock the nictus...
Seems what they say one month can dramaticly change the next week and so on.
Nemsis lv50 Inv/SS
Arch-Nemsis lv 50 SS/Inv
Umm...yeah. Not true.
They said that no new ATs would be unlocked with level requirements. Since Khelds aren't new ATs, they remain unlocked at 50. That goes for villain Khelds and hero Khelds.
@CrimsonOriole
speaking of khelds, I still want one, and next issue! I was disappointed when i read that little Q&A response that stated:
Matt Miller: Epic Archetypes (EAT) are never easy. Even simply opening up Kheldians to Villains is ripe with unforeseen consequences and problems. And designing one from the ground up, creating the new powers, animations, FX, sounds, and mission content starts getting expensive development wise. Then there is the game balance factor to consider.
EATs have been on the features list of most of the issues since Issue 4. The problem is, when determining workloads and schedules, they are unfortunately some of the first things that are cut. From a production standpoint, when given the choice between an expensive feature 10% of the players will get to see and enjoy, and one that 90% of the players will get to see and enjoy, its almost a no-brainer.
That being said, EATs will remain features to add to the game. We are not abandoning the concept (Id have told you if we were). We just need to get them into a schedule and have them stick.
What part of phnglui mglw'nafl Cthulhu r'lyeh w'gah nagl fhtagn don't you understand?
u kno what sucks issue 9 won't have EAT
Kheldians are not a dominating force in COH, I can't see them doing any harm in COV if they just ported them over.
Centinull
was just thinking...and no i have not read the whole 54 pages of this stuff...but supposing incarnates will be a whole new EAT...perhaps it will only be accessible to a lvl 50 toon. Like lets you click Incarnate ad your archetype and it shows the lvl 50 toons you have...then allows you to build from there with an added bonus to powers..perhaps taking you back down to lvl 1 again?...but then again i dont want two copies of my same char taking up space...and im sure it wont happen...just a thought i had from remembering my days playing Ragnarok Online
mmm i just wish getting a villain in COV to 50 would unlock khelds in COH.. that'd be nice.
Wow, it's been a while.
So, update time:
SplitInfinity Radio had a talk with the City Scoop folks tonight, due in no small part to the NCSoft COH IP acquisition. Posi, Ex, Lighthouse and several others were there.
I asked Posi flat out in IRC (spur of the moment, an "Ooh, while he's here" thing, if Avilians were backburnered or dead. He confirmed the Avilian EAT is dead because they found the way to give players wings. (Not sure it logged the chat, but...)
No comment on the others.
In the meantime, Villain Khelds are being aimed at for "early 08," which several are taking for "Issue 12." Hopefully.
Status at this time of the EATs:
Kheldians - Hero - In game since I3
Nictus and (as yet unclarified on the name) "Evil Peacebringers" - "Hopefully early 2008."
Avilians - No longer planned.
Incarnates - "We hope to fit them in after villainside Kheldians, but they don't fit the storyline."
Coralax - unknown.
Blood of teh Black Stream - unknown.
Personally, I find the loss of Avilians disappointing - but then again, I want to see what part of the storyline they open up (which is why I have little interest in Incarnates... they seem, to me, to not really shed light on a lot.)
Adding to the tiny bits of info:
Positron, giving some I12 info here - [ QUOTE ]
<qr>
I guess I can't get in trouble for telling you what the VEAT is not...
It's not:
* Kheldian/Warshade/Nictus/Peacebringer
* Avilian (this is off the table forever for either side)
* Coralax
* Blood of the Black Stream
* Incarnates
* Anything to do with the Coming Storm
Oh, and back to the original topic... Marcian is pretty perceptive about us needing "ramp up" time for I12... I12 was planned before the acquisition, and the staffing-up takes months, by which time I12 will be mostly done.
That's not to say that we don't know that I12 will be scrutinized closely. It will, so we are trying to cram as much as we CAN into the issue with what we have. We do have some surprises planned!

Looks like they are getting i8 relatively close to i7, compared to how long i7 took due to bug fixes. Hopefully i9 and a new EAT will be around in the next three to four months.
Vet rewards are sweet ^_^.
