I think your logic is very sound until you get to this part.
First of all, a K/D ratio out of context has little meaning. If we say my stalker has a 5:1 ratio and your blaster has a 2:1 ratio, the initial impression is that I have the better AT. But what if it takes me an hour to get those 5 kills and your blaster gets 5 kills every 15 minutes? While my stalker has the better K/D ratio, your blaster has the better efficiency. This is one of several balancing factors that must be considered before implementing a change like this. I can only assume Castle and the other devs went by more than just a simple kill count or ratio (I hope so anyway).
Also, stalker dominance in BB or SC is not necessarily an indication the AT isnt balanced. They certainly might be overpowering, but this may be something inherent to their respective design that cant be compensated for until later in the game, as Castle alluded to, when the other ATs gain some abilities that help them effectively deal with stalkers. Right out of the box, a stalkers AS is just as effective at level 10 as it is at level 40. Most other ATs dont have that powerful an attack so early.
Frankly, if the K/D ratio is so disproportionate it isnt funny, I dont really know how this minor adjustment (so minor it doesnt warrant the label nerf) is going to do anything to correct the problem (if there really is one). I fully expect theres something bigger coming our way up around the bend.
The reason for the Stalker dominance in PvP zones is because Stalkers are the only ones that are worth PvP'ing with, Brutes being second in a very short list. Corruptors cannot pump out enough damage as most of their slotting went to buffs/heals/debuffs and Dominotors dropping their slots in either sub-par damage or sub-par holds (easily broken with purple candy, easily bought by the rich heroes). The end result of taking away the effectiveness will not be more diverse ATs, it will just mean less players in BB and SC.
Good, then I can sit in there and finally earn those dang Time in PvP zone badges...

i actually earned the sirens call one pvping the whole 5 hours
it was fun, i was playing a ss/inv brute had more success with him then i've ever had with a stalker, but the only stalker i've pvpd with much was a NB, who is gimped in SC
there are programs to keep logged in for 5 hours, i see heroes afk in the hospital all the time to get their badge, it sucks when they're your rep and they're sleeping yet not being logged out

Until then, I'm going to believe that the arena is under the same percentages for level differential as the PvE game - just that everyone is granted +25% defense. No matter what, even 5 on 1, you will be destroyed by a +8 opponent - especially one piloted by a human.

I may have said everyone is "auto-leveled" in the arena, but I was mistaken. Instead, the same code as effects Giant Monsters is in effect -- when you attack a player, your To Hit and Damage is the same level they are. So, a 40 attacking a 50, would attack as if he was level 50, while the 50 attacking the 40 would be roughly equivalent to a 40.

Uh, I'm sorry, but that's not how it works. At least, not on Live right now.
As per the Giant Monster code, you do damage assuming your target is your level. So a 40 attacking a 50 would attack as though the 50 was 40. And the 50 attacking a 40 would attack as though the 40 was 50.
So a 5 against a 50 will just about always lose. The 5's damage output will be nothing to a 50's hp - he's getting the full 20 or 30 damage per big attack, but that's nothing compared to the 1000+ HP that the 50 has. Meanwhile, the 50 is hitting for 100+ damage, and more than likely one-shotting the 5.
If it worked the way you describe, it'd be great. If Giant Monsters worked the way you describe, it'd also be great. But as of now, it does not. And a 30 will do very little to a Giant Monster as compared to a 50.

I think this has less to do with "Stalkers are so Uber," and more to do with the fact Stalkers are far more common in PvP zones. Considering Blasters can one shot MMs, and Doms, as well as hover snipe most Brutes and out damage Corruptors, most villains bring in their Stalker for the Hide ability. Stalkers are also much better at hit and run/guerrilla style fighting than any other AT. On a one on one fight, Stalkers aren't nearly as good.

Well, I'm pretty sure they won't do this, but it would be nice if Placate added -125 perception directly to the target, so at least the target doesn't see us while we are ASing. I like that they currently can't see us so we can get in position for an AS.
With this change it will be a lot easier for people who have been placated to break LOS. I hope that's not intentional.

Then the solution is to obviously increase the availability of perception buffs to more powersets? Somehow, I don't think that this is what stalkers want, either. It's pretty plain that stalkers thrive on these scenarios, and obviously don't want to see them removed. Hardly sporting.

Seriously though, what do you guys think? Whenever Im attacking a team, I usually get beat down right away. Stalkers always get the most hero aggro. Even with placate, attacking a team that has half a brain and surviving is tough. Nerfing placate lowers my already low chance of survival.
AS nerf, placate nerf...looks like all the stalker nerf callers are getting their way. Cant wait for the 40-50 zone and the scrapper/tanker focused accuracy party.
What do you all think about the placate nerf?

Useless. None of the stalkers I've seen are even bothering using placate unless fighting scrappers or tanks. That's it. This nerf is just another lame duct-tape job lik eall the others.
stop picking on stalkers. hide and assassin strike is what we do. so go cry. placate is awesome. the devs are ruining this game.
