City of Hero Questions to Awry
[ QUOTE ]
Hmm... I wonder if City of Hero is set in South Korea or Rhode Island?
[/ QUOTE ]
<shrug> Wherever it is, they don't believe in plurals or spaces, obviously.
CityofHero ... Is that anything like ArmyofOne?
<eyes rolling>
Hopefully the marketing blitz gets higher grades than these bozos' English grades. I mean come on ... if you're gonna butcher your classic title, at least do it in Chinese or Korean - where syntax means nothing and us stupid Americans won't notice.
The Korean language doesn't have a plural form, from what I understand. Thus City of Hero.
And the "shapeshifting" just seemed like a stylized version of teleport to me.
[ QUOTE ]
Maybe a "China town" of some sort ... that would be a nice touch
[/ QUOTE ]
Perhaps in the rebuilt Baumton...?
[ QUOTE ]
from here.
"Guided by the Legacy Chain mystics, Statesman tracked the origin of these radiating ley lines to a quiet, unassuming city park. By the light of the full moon, Statesman approached the small park from which the unearthly power emanated. "Without warning, an ancient magic lashed Statesman with its luminescent tendrils, capturing him helpless with no Freedom Phalanx to back him up. Lured by an unknown hand, Statesman had unwittingly walked into a trap designed to drain his powerful energy!"
So now we know why States loves teaming and hates soloing so much: he sucks at it!
I mean, he didn't even have a Breakfree in his Insp tray? Noob!
[/ QUOTE ]
ROFL. Even worse than that, since he is invulnerable he should have been protected by Unyielding Stance. He must have walked in there without his toggles on.

Plurals are a separate word, that indicate a group when added after a word that identifies a type of person.
So a direct translation from English to Korean would read like: "City of Hero Persons" as there's no way to indicate plurality in one word.
Anyhow... Awry's a she? News to me.

Seems like most of the non-cryptic staff around here is female - at least the ones with names that we know.

I swear, if we got that Sword/Gun combo as a powerset, I'd be the happiest man *ever*
I noticed the martial artist, Foreshadow, seemed to not only use kicks, but chi-enhanced hand strikes as well. Does this mean MA will be getting some energy melee animated attacks to choose from, or are we getting a different, more "street fighting" MA set to choose from? Also seriously looking forward to a gunkata scrapper, if thats one of the archtypes that's coming

I think Street Fighting is actually planned. (I *THINK*. Thats not to say I am right)
Check the old Geko Answers - I think that was on his whiteboard - especially when you consider how many people have voiced displeasure that the Martial Arts set is sooo very kick heavy.

Would also be nice if we got the trenchcoats too

I would just so looooooooooooooooove to use pistols like a Malta Gunslinger.. thats all I want.... would be perfect to finish off my origins and storylines..
The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.
If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-
I like the occasional close up shots of Statesmen arching his brow and glancing about him as if to ask, "What is all this kung fu crap?"
The important thing to remember here, is that NCSoft has a marketing division. Who may be responsible for all the videos we see. Meaning that all the powers you think you saw in there, may be nothing more than fluff the movie makers put in, cuz it looked cool. it could very well be that the people who actualy made hte movie have never even played CoH.

It's fun to be envious of Signature Powers isn't it?
Sigh...
Let's Dance!
These heroes could very well have sets that we will never ever get, since they are sig heroes. Much like how Black Swan has dark imps, Scirocco has that nifty sword, and Lord Recluse has his spider back thingy things.
I do however hope that asian launch will persuade the devs to someday make an asian-themed zone, a china-town as the rest of you suggested. Tsoo, Family, and maybe another added group, maybe a rogue group (like Wyvern, neither hero or villain) called "Sakura" that could be very anime-ish, katana weilding group. Heh, maybe I am getting ahead've myself here, but I always thought something like this would be cool ever since we got the asian clothes and faces in Issue4.

Glad you liked it! Be sure to let everyone on the boards know that there will be absolutely no difference between the Korean version and the US/EU version of the game .
[/ QUOTE ]
This brings up an another interesting question. If the games are exactly the same, then the trainers in the U.S. version will also be the trainers in the Asian version....
So, where do the new "signature heroes" from that trailer go?
Will they be in a new zone or two? Or not in as trainers at all?
I had always assumed that they would take the place of some of the trainers like Brawler and Blue Shield....now I'm not so sure.

I think the main part of the sig powers bit with that would be the lighting. I could see them givign us the gunkata.

All I can say is it's a good thing Awry doesn't read the forums or else she might have realized she was being tricked into giving out information that would be broadcast to the world!
Wow. Close shave there, huh?
Amazing stuff.

Well, since I didn't ask anything really underhanded and, in her reply, she seemed to give tacit approval for me to let everyone know, I did.
If she had asked me to keep it to myself then I, of course, would have. (And sat smugly at my computer watching the speculations fly )

well according to the comic, Brawler is going to take a break from handing out missions, and start kicking some [censored].

that could be very anime-ish,

I misread this as "amish". Insomnia sucks.

I think that stuff is Foreshadow's special abilities.
Like States gets that lightning crap and Psyche gets mind riding(or whatever is called)...

In response to someone's questions about the undead specters...they look similar to the one's the COT use... Maybe (wild speculation) the COT and Tsoo team up? Either that, or a completely new mystic group suitable to the genre/setting?
Anyway...good stuff... I especially love all of the costumes...I predict that our COH/COV is going to get a major facelift in the coming months...

I enjoyed the video and too wonder about the powers featured. MA was obvious, but were we getting a preview of forthcoming powersets? Pistol scrappers and shapeshifting (the "melting" woman)? Why did they all turn on each other at the end? Very cool video but so many questions.

Read the page that was referred to... Rose's mentor thought she'd been attacked, so went to attack... er, whatserface... so HER mentor jumped in to defend her.
Yeah, in the middle of a fight.
Great timing.

Yeah - the one that teleports by becoming silvery goo can drain people of their energy and use it (the blast that knocked out all the zombies/ghosts). The two female heroes knew each other, which is why the blonde nodded at the the first one before the first one sucked out her power.
The sword & gun guy just saw his protectee's energy get sapped, then her calapse.
