Here's a couple of screen shots of the character creater. Imageshack seemed to have a problem after I took a couple more, I'll try to get them up somewhere later.
Edit: how funny, I hit quote as you changed your post. Anyway ...

Sure ... if you could tell them apart from the guys. The asian males could pass for modern-day lesbians.

That bishounen business actually is more popular with the western fangirls than the japanese, I know fangirls who devote their entire paychecks to bishounen (feminine boy) posters and whatnot (dead serious). I keep that in mind to make myself feel better about being an MMO junkie =D, yes, I know, I just called the kettle 'black'. But my overall point is, it may draw in a bigger fanbase if Cryptic rides this wave for a little bit.

I misread this as "amish". Insomnia sucks.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes! More Amish heroes! That's what we need!
[/ QUOTE ]
What origin would they be? You can count out Tech and Sci for obvious reasons. Magic would be blasphemy. Mutation would be out of the question for lack of cell phones and microwaves... that would leave natural.
Feel the power of the Amish!
[/ QUOTE ]
Okee doke... that settles it! Time to start posting new items on the Consolidated Costume Suggestions thread:
[*]Forget the Trench Coats - We need black top-coats! [*]We need a new mustache-less beard! [*]A whole new Amish hat! I must have it now!
[/ QUOTE ]
An Amish tank would be the ultimate meatshield. Take only powers from your primary, along with the fighting pool for tough/weave, and only slot your defenses.

Glad you liked it! Be sure to let everyone on the boards know that there will be absolutely no difference between the Korean version and the US/EU version of the game .

If the Korean players are going to get exactly the same game as us, then isn't it somewhat misleading to create this very anime-looking promotional video?
Also, while we've come to grips with the idea that important NPCs have access to unique costume items (e.g. Numina's jacket) and signature powers (e.g. Scirocco's sword), aren't they laying that stuff on a little thick with these new characters? Some of the Korean gamers might be a little distressed that they can't make characters even close to what they're being shown in the video.
Frankly, if it's believed the Korean players would prefer a more anime-based setting to the standard superhero fare, then maybe they should get a modified version of the game. On the other hand, if they're going to be playing the same game as us set in Rhode Island, USA, then I think this advertising may backfire.
Or... [conspiracytheoristmode]... maybe "no difference between the Korean and US/EU versions" really means that we will be the ones facing major changes, as I7 launches with an event that physically transports Paragon City to an island just off the Korean peninsula... [/conspiracytheoristmode]

Foreshadow and the blonde chick (I forget her name and can't be bothered to look it up ) have, from the looks of it, completely "normal" CoH powers. Foreshadow looks like an MA/SR, and Blondey doesn't really display any powers. And neither of them are hard to make, costume wise, with the CoH engine.
It's Spark Blade and Mirror Spirit that really break all the rules, particularly Mirror Spirit's costume and powers. All we REALLY need to see to make these "fit" are some new powersets or ATs, which is a possibility, albeit one that would (pleasantly) surprise me.
>.< Spark Blade is too cool! I must be allowed to play someone remarkably similar to him, yet not violating his copyright! *Ahem*

All I can say is it's a good thing Awry doesn't read the forums or else she might have realized she was being tricked into giving out information that would be broadcast to the world!
Wow. Close shave there, huh?
Amazing stuff.

Well, since I didn't ask anything really underhanded and, in her reply, she seemed to give tacit approval for me to let everyone know, I did.
If she had asked me to keep it to myself then I, of course, would have. (And sat smugly at my computer watching the speculations fly )
[/ QUOTE ]
Heh he. . . I really have to stop keeping things to myself. Meh, but the last time I said I knew anything it stirred up a bit of a frenzy. For now though I'm not sitting on anything. I have to start asking more of the right questions. As of late I've just been submitting ideas and suggestions for various additions, fixes and possible changes. Some content, some feature changes, but mostly just QoL fixes/updates.

He isn't!!! Martial Arts in COH/COV don't punch! They fling their legs around like they're psychotic can-can dancers and don't use their hands at all unless they're going to deliver the odd cobra strike!
Foreshadow's style look more energy-melee-ish to me, personally.
Although I personally would love to see a set with chi-powered punches AND kicks, as well as chi blasts.
Or Kyo Kusanagi/Iori Yagami's "Magatama" firey martial arts styles from King of Fighters. They're way too cool.

I think the singular use of Hero is for the Korean translation though someone with a better grasp of Korean could probably answer that one better than I.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll admit straight up that my Korean is bad--I learned it at home, and then never really used it, so it's phenomenally rusty when it comes to composing sentences (comprehension's a lot easier than generation.)
"Hero" is a loan word anyway, in Korean. (If I recall correctly, the native term is "yong.sa", which also is a word you can use for "warrior".) As far as plurals go, the nouns themselves don't change; rather, when you're counting them, the number counter serves in its place (and occasionally, the noun changes, too, but that's rarer. Also, number counters change depending on what's being counted.)
1 person == "han myung" ~ ("myung" doesn't refer to a person directly, but it's the term used to count people.)
2 people == "too myung"
Person == "saram"
People == "saramdul" ~ (But, from what I remember, this is used when there is an indefinite amount.)
There is one car == "Cha han.na it.da" ~ ( Car one is )
There are two cars == "Cha too.gae it.da" ~ ( Car two are )
===
As far as the anime-ish appearance of the video, I'm not seeing it that strongly. If anything, the characters look more Asian, but that doesn't necessarily make it Anime--which, if you're being nitpicky, refers more to Japanese animation styles rather than Korean animation styles.

If the weird liquify teleport that Mirror Spirit was doing is implemented, I foresee a huge wave of Alex Mack characters.

Id be a little surprised if anyone remembered Alex Mack. I didn't even think of her when mirror did the liquid tp.

I think people are looking too much into the video, really.
I think it was made to watch and entertain the masses. I don't think we'll be transforming into water, or seeing any FX changes on MA soon. If we do, I'll be shocked.

O RLY?
Maybe no big differences, but there is at least one cosmetic difference. This screenshot is on the Korean site, presumably from the beta if it hasn't launched yet. Admittedly it's from an altered demofile, but there is clearly a blue flag on top of Atlas instead of the US flag.

Theres also a picture of TWO actual statesman costumes, a guy has a leg robe, and when did behemoths get the lava rock armor? i know in CoH beta there were pics of DE rampaging in Atlas but with special powers?

All of these things are possible by altering a saved demofile and playing it back. Hell, I've got a screenshot here of Statesman saluting one of my characters inside City Hall, and I remember last year there was a demo on the boards of a bunch of the sugnature heroes on top of City Hall playing Rock Paper Scissors while a Rikti warship hovered in the background.
Changing the flag using this method, however, is not, as far as I know.

I think you are mistaken in this. Bishonen means beautiful boy, but also incorporates adult male characters as well. It depicts extraordinary beautiful male characters and is VERY popular with Japanese fans. How do you think all those beautiful male characters make their way over to the States? Why do you think FF characters look like that anyway? Because of the demand in their own country, not ours.
I think you are confusing Bishonen with Yaoi, which is much more popular with American fans than Japanese for some reason. I dislike Yaoi but love Bishonen.
This is a wonderful site with more info on Bishonen and what it means.
Um whoever said there werent any differences between our games is wrong.

Now who can tell me whats wrong with this picture? Just browse their screenshot forum for a while and youll see some weird stuff.
Read back a couple of posts. The Koreans just seem to be really into altering demofiles to produce wierd screenshots. You can produce all sorts of wacky scenarios this way and it's not that hard to do. Nothing new or exciting about that, it just seems to be much more popular in the Korean CoH community than it is here.
Your linkage burns my eyes.
It can be done this way: Odd Screenshot
I saw the video and I want a pistol scrapper...what would really be cool if you could learn/unlock powers from certain Signature heroes. That would be really cool. And not like that piss ant squirt gun accolade. I mean a real slottable power or powerset.
I saw the video and I want several millions of dollars.
Ok... I lied, I didn't see the video.
But I still want the money.
GIMMIE!
Ooo! Let's go with that idea. A million dollars would be swell.
That and jet powered rocket pants!
Given Foreshadow's background story, I'm guessing he's going to be the poster boy for Heroes that fall.
Better go clear out a bunk for him in my henchies room. He's going to need some mentoring, hehe*
