I am sorry to say I have succumbed to SMASH
I was under the impression I would never play anything other than an endless line of Stalkers. My COV main had made fall in love with the whole strategy of planning my attacks and the ease of with I could traverse the zones with Hide.
That was untill 2 nights ago...
I was playing my main and working on designing my costume for the 3rd slot when it occured to me I could make a flaming skull!!! I was enamored with the idea, but felt it was out of charecter for villain I was designing the costume for.
I exited and rolled a new charecter I didn't hink I would play beyond the tutorial. A few hours later of non-stop SMASH I realized I wasn't even stopping to level up. All that mattered was maintaning the Fury bar so I could SMASH . I was defeating random grey foes just to further the SMASH fury bar.
I SMASH need SMASH help!! SMASH Smash SMASH is SMASH clearly SMASH SMASH very addictive.
Brutes employ the exact opposite methodology of Stalkers.
There is a SMASH science, but as long as endurance and Fury are high everything within sight exists soley to SMASH

Well, I started playing the game almost a year ago. It seemed appropriate that since all my work buddies played, I should too. They kept telling me, "We need a meat shield, we need you to be a brute!" So I played as a meat shield. Vengeance was used many times on my limp body.
Then, the SG folded because of some stupid game with orcs.
I went to another server and made a Stone/ELA brute. The crowning moment came one night while soloing. I was at the red part when it starts going flashy-flashy. All the toggles were down, and the purple COT boss was laughing it up as his hold expired. I had just enough end for two hammer shots. From full health, he was quickly reduced to a quivering mass of goo. He also happened to drop a catch a breath, so the archers and associated ilk were quick to follow. I didn't really understand how it happened...then i noticed where my fury bar was. Now, I came back to the EM/INV I started with. So much fun. So much SMASH. So much getting in their faces and laughing (except maybe carnies. They can put a serious hurt on an inv (stupid psi/end/illusory crap!)

Yeah.. i started on CoH in i4... but managed to get 3 brutes to 50 before getting a hero there.... They are quite fun... ive often wished i had fraps, or whatever the hell the recording programs are called, just to film some of the crazy [censored] ive done.. Think my favorite moment was when i was on a full team, running on relentless, 3 members were afk, 3 members were dead, only me and buddys brute were left alive... we fired off unstoppable (i was dm/inv, he was stone/inv) and took out the entire floor of the map (with 2 bosses in each spawn)...

i just discovered my i7 FotM ELM/ELE brute a couple weeks ago. level 15.
freespecced him into SMASH!!-ey goodness.
currently level 25, borderline 26, and i'm a dirty SMASH[censored]. after my kin defender hit 50, i wanted somehting else that could do damage like that. then i found Mr. Me Too, and the fury bar.
What is this "Health Bar" you keep talking about?
Is that near the " SMASH Bar of Happiness"?

The devs shouldn't nerf brutes... if for any other reason that fury is still broken in PvP. Brutes are no more overpowered than scrappers. I don't see it happening. Oh, I thought you quit the game Supa? Ohhh... must have just been a deliriously happy dream I had that you were banned for life..

Fun story. Was doing new year mish with a buddy of mine and got tore up pretty bad by an over abundance of red caps. Ran off, healed up and started back in. He says, 'you're going back there?' My response, 'Heck yea, nobody beats on me like that and gets away with it.'

Yes I too had an issue with alts... I couldnt stick with one type. I would create a toon and then figure out what would make him even better and reroll. Until that one faithful day I decided to make a rogue from xmen toon and tasted the world of brutes! I was hooked nothing came close. I then finally figured I would settle for a ss/ela brute and now at lvl 50 I find myself on Rikti tf tearing through mobs and going after av's who's standing in a mob of 20 footstomping the mob and swinging after the av! Energy only tickles me and the minionss try to hold/sleep/immob me with no luck.
power sink feeds my end bar as needed!
Brutes make you feel as a GAWD amongst men!
I now see why the HULK must SMASH all that is smashable!!
I used to have serious altaholism. But now that I've found the glory of fury and the brutes that thrive on it....well... i still have altaholism, but all my recent alts are brutes.

I have to say that I'm sick of nerfs. If anything I think they should make the game harder if an AT proves too powerful. I'm all about tons of power and laying waste to anything in your path.

Here's a fun story. Was running the LGSF 2 days ago on my Stone/Elec Brute and we had a Stone/Stone Tanker on the team. When I first got on the team, I expected to have no fury the entire time owing to the Taunts and Mud Pots running around stealing my aggro. Mob after mob I was a sad little Smasher with little to no Fury when suddenly I realize something... My head was glowing bright red. The Emp had seen fit to grant me a PB'ed Fort and was keeping it up no problem.
Solution? Aggro extra groups just for the Fury! We hit the final fight against The Honoree. The Tanker ran in and was taunting but I was having none of that. I ran back to the door and went around the other side of the room and aggro'ed another mob onto me so I could fight the AV with Full Fury.
Moral? SMASH > Taunt
My new favorite pasttime is Diving into the middle of a HUGE brawl full of invading Rikti with a full Fury bar, Rage, 2-3 Reds, and multiple Fulcrum Shifts and hitting Foot Stomp! Even with stacked SB and AM, it STILL doesn't Recharge fast enough!!! And I STILL miss the old screen shake of Foot Stomp, who cares about cracks in the floor... I'm already breaking some mother's back, I don't need to step on said crack

Gotta agree with original poster. I don't get to play all the time, in fact only have my stalker up to 22(and as shown in my sig, my highest hero is a 41...AND I GOT COH AT LAUNCH!!!). Well I started up a brute on Tuesday....and about 8 hours later had to finally stop playing to peel my butt off my chair. The brute is indeed the most fun I have ever had playing this game....EVER.
Unfortunately...the reason its so much fun...the pure unrelenting damage and pace you can keep doing it at...are sure to change once too many people complain, for real, about nerfs. The inevitable "balance" will happen...which will then make people scurry back to their other chars. Until then though..... SMASH!!!
