BRUTES should be taken OUT of the game!!!!!
(Sorry, double post...)
lol it's not nuclear science. Brutes are so popular simply because they're the strongest AT in the game. as in overpowered. just like every other 'popular' AT in the game. once they get balanced, it'll stop. City of Blasters was stopped, City of Scrappers was the next wave, then it got stopped. City of Tankers happened. Got stopped. Hard. Now we're currently in the City of Brutes stage. Guess what's comin'?

dude, quit nerf herding. you called for nerfs in another post, and from a previous one that you deleted, you dont even own the friggin game and therefore have absolutely zero grounds in which to claim that they are overpowered.

Brutes are fun because they play more like a comic book .....feel free to wade into that mob...you'll onyl get stronger the mroe of them there are (as long as you swing...no one likes a sissy brute)...
On a side ntoe as an energy aura brute (lvl 24) I frequently get up to full or nearly full fury bars...jsut happens to coincie with my toggles dropping....nothings more fun than trying to take down sea witch with jsut eneough end cycling to keep throwing brawls...thing is with enough fury that attack is jsut fine if you run out of end in a mob of minions...
and yes brute debt does come and go quite easily....by far the funnest archtype ...this AT feels more like what I expected Tankers and scrappers to be and weren't...
I fee like Lobo..capable of taking on Superman and ten times cooler
and of course once you SMASH! you can never go back.
*raises hand*
Sign me up for the SMASHers Annonomous! I got it...I got it BAD!!
It's worse when you find yourself making a new group with your friends and your options aren't which AT to use, but rather "do I want Stone SMASH! or Pink Pom Poms of DOOM SMASH!?
Sure, I'm not as good on a team, but I still crave the SMASH! and I must have it. I need it to live...

You know...it is funny. I too have always played support/damage classes...i.e. Blasters, Defenders, Corr, Dom, etc... but I just LOVE my level 15 Fire/Fire Brute!
You get going and you just dont want to stop!!
My favorite moment in CoV (think I was around level 10 at the time):
25% Health, very low Endurance, high Fury, only a single Inspiration left (Defense), spawn of 3 minions in front of me. Rest is recharge and I'm about to hit it when I think screw it, I'm going in. Luckily the first guy dropped a Heal Inspiration. Not sure if I wouldn't made it without it. Fury makes you do dumb things.

Dude, I do that ALL the frickin' time! THIS is why people like Brutes so much, not because they're "uber."

Been there ... done that...
SMASH can become sooo adicting... dang it ... back to step 1 on the 12 step program....
SMASH is addictive. I habitually run around, at medium health, no endurance, and full rage, staring at mobs. soon as I catch my breath, SMASH you good.
When soloing, I go from group to group, just to keep the Fury up. The problem is when in groups, everybody else (that is, the non-brutes) are so used to the CoH way of waiting between spawns (gotta get that hp and end up!), so I'm forced to run a bit ahead.
Not a problem with I'm with one or two others (spawns aren't too bad), but I can't do that with 7-8 person teams! =>_<=
Fortunately, Energy Cloak allows a bit of melee-pulling.
Ah, Brutes... full andrenaline rush!

I played a Fire/EA Brute in Beta and got him up to lvl 22 (I think). I enjoyed playing him very much but I just couldn't reconcile the poor accuracy issues. I was wiffing all the time and this was w/2 Acc - 1 DO and 1 TO - in most attacks. I couldn't afford dual DOs and heaven forbid - SOs - cause of infamy issues.
I will probably just think back on the fun I had and not play one on the Live servers.

Dude, 25% health and a purple is enough to take on a BOSS when you gots the Fury!
Try harder next time.
The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.
I really do like my Mastermind. I am a control freak and a strategist when I play. I love ordering my henchmen around, setting up my traps, cackling when someone is trying to run away and gets gunned down by my army.
But every now and then I desparately need to switch toons so I can SMASH my way through a mission. It's almost surreal how different the same missions look with Dark Melee and a fury bar.

Actually I think in an indirect way... the balance of the AT is the nature of the AT itself.
When Brutes aren't careful and run too far and too fast... they could easily aggro a whole room to the point where it's too much for them to handle. I've seen it happen. They are very powerful, but no more than most scrappers IMHO. Teams often have to keep an even tighter leash on them.

Step 1: Make a Brute.
Step 2: SMASH!
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Profit
Ok, I do have a question. I play a SS/Invul Brute, but I've never gotten my fury bar 100% full. I've gotten close, but never full. Does anything happen when you hit 100%? Like big SMASH! letters above the damage like Critical or Domination?
What IS it about Brutes, tho?
I'm an alt-o-holic, and over half my alts (plus my main) are Brutes. Yet I can't really figure out what's so attractive about 'em. No ranged, no flashy stuff... I mean, compare the other inherents / AT-specific stuff: domination is flashy and a huge power boost, stalkers' crits + assassin's strike = huge burst damage, MMs are a unique AT, and while the first tier pets are kinda boring, the higher tier ones are cool. But both Brutes and Corruptors just get "higher damage the more you fight", if in different ways.
So WHY? Why can't I stop playing Brutes, when I find half the other ATs more interesting? What is it about the SMASH that holds me so? Back when I started beta, I decided I'd have either a Dominator main with a MM alt, or the other way around, and prooobably a Brute alt I'd play at odd times. Now, I hardly ever play non-Brutes. I don't get it. All Brutes do is SMASH stuff. No ordering pets around, no firing ranged powers, no buffs, no debuffs, no "cool" stuff. Just pure unadulterated SMASH. Perhaps that's the key... the simplicity of the issue.
I need help. =/
