I think much of the annoyance here is due to two things...
1. PvP changes were not supposed to affect PvE play and now we're finding out that it most certainly will have a cross over effect.
2. They're trying to call the nerfs "balance" when this is a PvE game. "Balance" is for PvP (come on...why "balance" super jump/ super speed for PvE more than a year after launch?). Just be honest and call it like it is. The nerfs are due to upcoming PvP.

Well it happened over at World of Warcraft, and you saw the absolute $hit fight that it caused there. I fear the same thing is going to happen with CoH.

I didn't have many problems with the dev's until I saw them test scrappers based off of them using half a tray of inspirations per fight. and then deciding that some, like invulnerabilty, were too strong. Yeah, they WOULD be. If my SR scrapper had damage resistance inspirations and used a load per fight, he'd be a god too.

What is really starting to piss me off with not only this dev team, but most dev teams of MOST MMO's these days is that....
NONE OF THEM GET IT!! The just keep making the mistakes every MMO has made before them.
Do NONE of them DO research into other games?

SS and SJ change
The SJ and SS nerfs could have easily came just as much from PvE as PvP. The same way people use powers in PvP, they also use them in PvE. This might have just been the first time they realized there was a problem.
Second reason is simply SJ and SS were loads better then fly and tp. Instead of fixing the two screwed up travel powers, they went the second route and brought them to down to the level of Fly and TP. Personally, I know SJ and SS was far better then fly was for a long time, but I was hoping they would just fix fly to bring it up to balance, not the other way around. There were plenty of things you could do to fly ranging from dropping the 50% acc debuff down so it can be used in combat like the others if you can not switch off it right away. Or they could have simply boosted the speed since it was truly a travel power and not a combat one with all the negatives in it attached. Boosting the speed and leaving everything else the same would have went a long way toward balancing it out and it is not like it would be overpowered, look at Khelds. The pp fly would still not even be as good as theirs which means still balanced. As for Tp, easy fix, simply lower the end cost some and problem solved. For an even better fix, add a 2 second hover to it in case of lag or to look for somewhere to land so they do not hit the ground.
Using inspirations to test scrappers
As for inspirations and scrapper testing, with a full set of nothing but lucks and enrages, I bet I can get a controller capable of soloing some pretty powerful bosses and AVS pre 32. Inspirations should never have been added into the testing since I have never seen anyone stack that many to fight any one person whether they are an AV or a minion. Going by this theory, it is the same as stating blasters need more damage because a blaster never slotting their attacks does not do as much damage as a defender 6-slotting theirs. It is also like stating blasters have plenty of defense, might even have too much. I mean after all, imagine a blaster popping a lot of lucks and a few enrages, they become pretty unstoppable too.
Adding the inspirations into the testing makes me think they are just trying to replicate whatever results they want to make in the end whether it is be conscious or subconscious decisions. The tests should be done more evenly and straight forward.

Considering a 12th lvl shockers damage far outstrips a players, dont you think they already do? I for one would love too see the mobs build sheets...betcha be surprised on how they dont follow the rules at all =p. As for them getting the same nerfs...its the devs that are crying a river over how the game needs to be "balanced". Unfortunately it seems their idea for a balanced game is that we die atleast once every 30 seconds, unless of course we follow thier "vision" of how the game should be played, y'know the one where it takes 8 heros to take out 1 minion =p

Damn if this doesn't make us, hard-core all-time CoH fanatics, really, really mad. Played since the new issue, have been dealing with the whole controller bash that totally smacked Sibling down. Hey, let's nerf the nerfest class so some whiney scrapper can win in PvP. Now, our dark scrapper with SS swings like a freaking windmill! Oh, the difference is noticeable, oh hels yeah!
Hey Devs, here is a serious, respectful suggestion. The <insert proper adjective here> Arena has been on test for a while, why not keep it off the main servers and insert the debuffs and nerfs there? It's going to be so painful to play straight so these Arena <insert...> can fight. We don't want to fight other heroes, how does this do anything, any single thing but bad, for the game I bought? City of Heroes, fight villains. Did the villains get nerfed?

We endeavor NOT to change powers solely because of PvP. The powers we are changing are usually because of PvE or PvE AND PvP.

I think anyone paying the game knows this is just a public relations line. It is obviously not the case.
I'm not having fun now since this last patch. I've already started Guild Wars. I won't quit CoH until I see if some of the nerfing has been undone so I can enjoy playing again.

I am very happy I never had to see what the Burn nerf did to my 6 tanks.
It is not a bug - it is a direct nerf to fire tanks. What tanker power causes fear? Burn.
Taunt will not return a mob in Fear.
Does it need to be spelled out any further? He wanted this exact nerf last time and we fought it. Well he Stealth nerfed it this time.
I never saw one single post saying - Fire Tanks please come test a change we are thinking of. It was purposeful and intentionally a NERF.
These Devs DO NOT play the game you do. They want you to play it as they DIRECT YOU TOO. This is blatent and obvious.
Do your little missions in a row like good little clones. Do your TF as we direct. Don't kill Kraken they are endangered.
Above all things do not have any fun not directly approved of.

Eh? Was in the Rik Crash site earlier this evening and had no problems luring them back in for the most part. Sure it was a bit annoying watching them do the 2-step the whole time, but never had a problem with being unable to taunt them with burn going.

I'm not one to call for nerfs, nor am I doing that, but it should tell you something when you have 6 fire tanks.

As you can tell by my number of posts, I'm not prone to wasting my valuable leisure time sifting through Forum threads when I could be spending it playing the game I pay my hard earned cash to access. So I'll try to keep this short and sweet.
The current SS / SJ "suppression" solution is unacceptable to me. PVP. PVE. Makes no difference. This is not a "Balance". If the Dev Team disagrees, you have my Email address. Drop me a line. I'll be more than happy to set time aside to debate this with you in greater detail.
If you wish to strike true "Balance", please start with the PVE villains. Drop the 2nd set of rulebooks and have EVERYONE (PC and NPC) fighting on the same wavelength. Anything else, and the word "Balance" from the Dev team sounds rather hypocritcal. Challenge my cunning and my strategy, not my character template.
If my "fun" is really an issue to you, please heed my words before you forfeit my expendable income to one of your many competitors. Or the only "risk/reward" anecdote that matters will be how you gambled on changes to the game that took too much money out of the company's pocket. Open your eyes and realize that people are leaving over this, and telling two friends... who also tell two friends... and so on... and so on... and so on...
If that's not enough for you, then compare the numbers you're currently losing to those who would leave over it if you changed it back. The only people it would affect would be the PVP audience. The Arena masters could easily require heroes to sign a "suppression consent form" in order to be eligible for "balanced" contests. Forced suppression detracts from the inherent strategies of these powers, which is exactly what the Arena is supposed to be fostering.
PVE'ers who don't like it have the simplest of fixes. Fight with the power turned off. Not to mention, are there really ANY players who fall into this category?

Yes I agree. It is the old "Cannot see the forest for the trees" syndrome.
They see the world in their little idealistic, perfect view, and do not see the dirt on the street that us, the poor common players see every day.
I mean we are not devs! So what do us scum players know? We are only just providing them with the financial support to run their virtual fantasy, nothing more.
