  1. THANK YOU all for the help. You guys who routinely patrol this tech board are seriously lifesavers.

Just to be clear, I do have TWO 9800s. Is that going to be pushing it past its limits?

I'll see what I can do about tying back cables to clear airflow. I noted the stuff about hard drives and will definitely see what I can do about clearing them up on space, but I will note that when the computer's getting hot, all of the drives (that are in one large cage together, plenty of space between) are staying very cool. The one thing I notice being especially hot is the PSU itself. I'm hoping that's what I can peg for replacement.
  2. Thanks! My power supply is a Delta Electronics DPS-650 PB, Max 650 Watts. Is that enough info?

  3. I'd love some advice as to what might be happening with my computer. Awhile ago it started where if I was playing CoH for an hour or so, the computer would overheat and shut off. The computer was technically still powered, but it sort of stalled. The display disappeared and all that, and I had to hold the power button to turn it off.

Then, it started doing it with other games. At first I suspected it was CoH's fault, a memory leak or something but it happens with any intensive program now. And it happens a lot quicker generally. It's gotten to the point where I need to have an external fan blowing on my computer when I'm gaming. Now, it's getting really bad and while idle, temperatures gauged by EVGA Precision are at 78 degrees C for GPU 1 and 66 degree C for GPU 2. Also in EVGA Precision, I have both internal fans boosted to 100%. This is obviously not good.

The power supply, which is barely a year old, is what I notice is getting hottest. My concern is that I had similar issues about two years ago with mostly the same components, and changing the power supply seemed to fix it for about... 6 months. Now I want to be sure something else isn't killing my power supplies while I'm pouring money into power supplies.

Can anyone help me with this? dxdiag attached.

    Thanks so much.
  4. Grrr... problems with attachments/pasting it in the post. Here's a dropbox link.

  5. My computer seems to be overheating since the last update to Live. I've only had it happen while playing CoH. I've played hours and hours of Arkham Asylum lately with no issues, but CoH quits on me after an hour or so lately.

Here's my DxDiag. Thanks for any help.
  6. Thanks very much to both of you. If trials are just 20-30 minutes (those two at least) I may be able to swing one of those every once in awhile.

I'm not BRAND new to incarnates, I have the Alpha slot open on two of my guys, but it's been long enough that I've been away from the game that even that stuff was a little unclear to me again. Thanks for your help.
  7. I've been a bit out of the loop for awhile, and walking in on this incarnate stuff is a bit overwhelming. Above all right now, I want to get some of those new Lore Incarnate Slots to get my Arachnos Soldier some Arachnos henchmen. I don't have quite as much time to play as I used to, so what are the best ways to raise some Incarnate Shards? Are there any viable ways solo, as my time is often fragmented while playing? If not solo, what's the best way in general?

    Thanks!

    Repeated Crashes

Rolling back to driver 185.85 SEEMS to have fixed it.

    Thanks!

    Repeated Crashes

Just lowered my settings, and ended up crashing again, though it took a bit longer.

    Repeated Crashes

    Thanks Texas!

I red-flagged the lack of space on the C drive too, and cleared some stuff out so it's at 11GB. Hopefully that's enough.

I really appreciate your help. I'll try these out, but just for the heck of it, here's my hijackthis.

    Repeated Crashes

So much for the missions-only theory. Just happened right after completing one.
  12. Branman

    Repeated Crashes

New observation, seems to ONLY happen on missions. Just played for a good 15 minutes with a new character, and didn't crash until I entered the tutorial indoor mission.

    Repeated Crashes

So I haven't played in several months, but I think I remember having this problem the last time I did play too. I can't get through a mission it's crashing so quickly. Usually without an warning or error message afterward.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Wanna hear something funny? Heroes are making an all-too similar point about arachnos troops in this post.

Coincidence? I think not. I'd wager both groups are functioning exactly as intended.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Bingo.

They should be hard. I also think Longbow are the most fun to fight, but that's just me. Nice to actually fight hero groups.
  17. I'm not one to call for nerfs, nor am I doing that, but it should tell you something when you have 6 fire tanks.
  18. I'm sorry, but I just can't see how Superjump was a problem in PvE. How are melees supposed to take down Sky Skiffs, with their high hit-points and flight? Or many other flying Sky Raiders in Striga Island or Terra Volta? Apparently Mitos in The Hive are also an issue. This isn't a problem in and of itself? I suppose we NEED ranged guys to do this now.

So now we're going to have to jump to perfection, hope to come up right next to them, AND hope we get that 50% chance of hitting it? That's lame. Very, very lame. The endurance use of it is high to keep it toggled too.

I've never heard Superjump called overpowered, at least not during PvE combat. You can't tell me this isn't because of PvP.

5th Column Activity on the rise? Good for them, I say.
