Repeated Crashes

So I haven't played in several months, but I think I remember having this problem the last time I did play too. I can't get through a mission it's crashing so quickly. Usually without an warning or error message afterward.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

New observation, seems to ONLY happen on missions. Just played for a good 15 minutes with a new character, and didn't crash until I entered the tutorial indoor mission.

So much for the missions-only theory. Just happened right after completing one.

Windows and CoH are both installed on the C: drive, which has 2% Free Space. Both Windows and the game need more space on the drive. I'd recommend copying CoH to the E: drive and run the updater to direct it to that new location. Then clean out more space on the C: drive.

Lower your Physics Quality to Medium or High. Very High should only be used when you have an Aegeia PhsyX card installed and nothing I see in the CoH Helper log shows you to have one.

If it were me, I'd lower the AA and AF settings, lower the Water Quality, and World Texture Level. Once you get things running stable for a while, then slowly start adjusting upwares beginning with World Texture Level, then Water Quality and AA. I doubt I'd run AF at anything above 8X.

You "may" want to roll back the graphics drivers to the 185.xx drivers instead. There are known issues with Windows 7 and Vista with those drivers. Mateo loaded them on his XP setup and ran with no problems, but rolling back one step wouldn't hurt.

Awaiting HijackThis log.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Thanks Texas!

I red-flagged the lack of space on the C drive too, and cleared some stuff out so it's at 11GB. Hopefully that's enough.

I really appreciate your help. I'll try these out, but just for the heck of it, here's my hijackthis.

Good to hear.

I'd still suggest freeing up a bit more space on the C: drive. I prefer keeping at least 25% free space on the drive Windows is installed on.

You also have a LOT of programs running that will eat up resources, and may be accessing the network as well and could possibly cause issues. Most of them are programs that don't have to be running all the time, especially at Startup. They will launch when needed, but the software manufacturer's love to have them run all the time.

I'd start in the O4 section and kill Adobe Readers Speed Launch (reader_sl.exe), the RealPlayer Update (realsched.exe), xboxstat.exe, nerocheck.exe, clonecdtray.exe, QuickTime task (qttask.exe), iTunes Helper (ituneshelper.exe), DaemonTools (daemon.exe), Dropbox.exe and your bittorrent client (Azureus.exe).

Then I'd start pruning services in the O23 section and set them to Manual. Apple Mobile Device Service, Bonjour Service, GetPlus Helper, iPod service, and the two Punkbuster services should all be set to Manual. They will start running when a program calls for them, but won't be eating resources you could use elsewhere.

I don't see anything calling LastFM automatically, so it is evidently a program you intentionally started that will be using network resources as you game.
