Epic ATs or Epic Power Pools?
I'd rather have the Epic AT, but it's sort of a moot point at the moment. I'd prefer to start over at level 1 because I think the lower level content has better balance overall, and I enjoy going through the process of building up the character's fundamental powers rather than refining the high-end stuff.
Which basically means that I won't have the patience to get to level 50 to get the new AT in the first place. I'm sure I'll get one of the Epics eventually once there are some alternate methods for earning them, but I'll have to wait a bit longer than a lot of people.
Well, the bend I'm planning to take is when my main hits 50 (I'm thinking issue 3 will be out by then), his story will continue as the Kheldian will possess him after an "accident".
Now, of course, this is all roleplaying fluff, but in my mind, my character won't be "retired" but just "getting a new lease on life".
And heck, when they do add new stuff for level 50 peeps, my guy can always "revert to his old self" and take part.
Don't know if that helps ya any, but that's just how I'm dealing with it.
good point about the lower level stuff having more depth. I have heard the Hollows are a lot of fun. But even with a new Epic AT, I think I would be bored to tears to have to go through the whole leveling process again. Getting to level 50 with my tanker was a bear. And once he hit 50, I had felt like I had just given birth :-P
I would rather have the opportunity to advance the adventures of my level 50 character rather than having to shelve my high level characters.
Does anyone know what kind of powers the Epic AT will have? The last I had heard was that you could mix and match primaries and secondaries and be able to make a "tank-blaster". Is this old speculation or is there new info on this?

The last official word I remember hearing was that they had their own special primaries and secondaries.
The high end game will continue to get new content, and I am sure "epic power pools" or simply level 50+ stuff will come out eventually...but you cannot just keep raising the cap on levels. Eventually characters hit the pinnacle of what they can achieve level wise.
And I symphathize, as a Tank, unless I am teamed, my EXP rate slows to a crawl.
But with the Epic classes its going to be a whole new type of game to go through again...and there HAS been a lot of expansion at the lower levels. By the time I was level 20+ you still couldn't succeed in Task Forces, so I have never finished Positron or Synapses dealie (Exemplaring to risky since I can get insta boot if buddy even server dumps).
New trials, entire new zones, its a good time to run through again.
Also, keep in mind, at lower levels, you level FAST. I was level 10 my first DAY I think...and I STILL haven't gotten to 50...and my first day was Pre-release.
yeah, I guess I will try the new Epic AT. But, I have mixed feelings since most of my friends have known me simply as my level 50 character. I took the time to make a good name for myself. Just seems kind of redundant to go through the whole process again with a new AT. I would much rather add skills and new powers to my existing character.
I don't see there's any reason we should have to choose.. we're getting both after all. I'm looking forward to Power Pools for my main character, but also the Epic AT to explore all the new content.
Actually, Expansion 3 has two Epic Archetypes AND many, many Epic Power Pools.
I love you.

You know I was thinking maybe this might be what the devs have planned as well. That the new character will be a possessed continuation of the old. Either way I'm going to do a similar thing.

If so, I se a stampede of players rushing towards respec....
You get a brand new, 5th Power Pool for use with the Epic Power Pools. Huzzahs all round!
I saw LOL from Statesman once today...I would like to add an LOL to the poster of the "Issue #3 is the smallest and LAMEST of the Issues" thread.
Seems to me that they have more to announce.
Statesman...Feature Update needs to be updated...NEED NEED NEED!

I know fairly for sure that Epic AT open at 50, but when will the Epic Power Pools open? Also, will they replace Power Pool slots or will they be in addition to Power Pools (four power pools and X epic pools)?

As far as we know: They're Level 40+ and act as a 5th Power Pool, so you get your normal 4 + an extra 5th one with Issue 3 for Epics.
I've heard rumours about both being discussed. With the Epic ATs, you get to create a new character with the new AT.
Personally, I would rather have epic power pools. Expand the level 50 game and allow for characters to have more than four power pools. These new epic power pools could be accessible once the character surpasses level 50. Having taken my main to level 50, I have built some affinity and loyalty to him and would like to continue his adventures. Not retire him at level 50 and be forced to start all over again with an Epic AT.
Just a thought. Which would you rather have: a brand new AT or epic power pools?
