Quote:I find the wentworths TPer handy to get from Oro to KR's directly as I lack a base with the flame on most my heroes.FFL FF and FFR all have Oro-crytals
(as does GH and Wildcards for sure amonsgt the coalition, I'd have to check the others and this is something that anyone in the base can use -just like the autodoc)
I think the basis for that comment is best given by an example:
Take the Negotiator badge mission for example. (Defeat all clockwork and Skulls)
The flashback version has the contact in Galaxy City, the mission is always in KR.
From Oro your 'best' options are Atlas, Galaxy (via the contact) or Talos
AP - yellow line to KR
GC has a decent walk accross the zone (its pre-travel power) then yellow line to KR
Talos -Pocket D - KR
From the base crystal you start the flashback, walk to the teleporters and its straight to KR.
Its also a great shortcut BACK to the contact from any city zone, by going into the base, use the crystal to TP to contact. -

Quote:whoops, that should read "repair Font Folder"I'm curious...what exactly does an Icon rebuild/repair function have to do with a corrupt Font file and or fonts in general?
(its does icon repair as well which is my excuse for brain fart in not stating its also a font folder repair tool) -
TweakXP from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/D...powertoys.mspx has a rebulid/repair icon function. Small free download so worth a try.

Quote:If you are going to predict the end of the world, makes sense to pick a lot of dates; more chance of being rightI am by no means a history buff, so I can't really give you a good number on this one. I watched (well, listened to while I played) a documentary about them, which explained that the Mayan calendar pointed to many dates as a possible end of the world, many of which have already passed. The 2012 year predicted is, I believe, an extrapolation of the way they measured time, the state of celestial bodies and their movement and the Mayan interpretation of what those meant. I picked that particular date both because it's at least slightly famous, and because it belongs to a civilization that DID see the end of their world already. I wanted to have at least a little credibility

oh drek, more maint tonight.
Please consider that rotating schedule. So once in a blue moon it doesnt effect our prime time. And you dont get much more prime time than 9:30 on a friday. -
Quote:Art doesnt have to be 'good'. Certaintly a lot of art isnt good, (to my opinion and view) and a lot doesnt convey a message, espically not an important one. A painting of a bowl of flowers will be called art by everyone looking at it. Without a 'very important' message.
Well see, the difference is that in a song, or a painting or a movie, art is used to convey a message of some kind; often personal, sometimes politcial, but always very important. At least to the person who made it.
You could look at one of the Vahzilok . The appearence of them certainity convey visual imagery. The flies buzzing around them implies the decay, the meshing of metal/flesh visable convey the sci-fi flavour of the creature... and more could be drawn from it. Misshapen form to imply twisted creator.
Its interesting that it appears from your stance, a printed out picture of a vah zombie would be 'art', a movie containing one would be 'art', but becasue it in a different medium it loses its 'art' tag. -
Plus the less slots they give out, means more people will try a server besides thier main one.
Thats a good thing for server load and countering the ghost town claims.
I'd still take a couple -

Quote:Not important to the reasons NCsoft has, but yes of course I can run a patch and defrag at the same time. What OS can't?Can you install a patch and run a defrag at the same time on your desktop ?
Maintenance is maintenance (defrag, swapping out components, tweaking settings, updating the OS) and cannot be done simultaeously with an update (changing the actual game server software).
A better question would be is a 4 hour downtime on a Thursday better on weeks with a patch than a second downtime.
More so a server based OS.
The rebooting and what not plays more havoc with the defrag, but I really doubt the regular maintenance is about defraging and is more about compacting the database and cleaning that.
I'd much prefer a four hour block when patches are needed than two nights. -
Thank you for taking the time to post.
And I'm really happy about only one scheduled maint per week.
I realise that the maintenance isnt personally directed at us in Oceanic time zones. And I glad there is an understanding that they effect us badly.
The schedule makes it hard to organise activities and bring new people in to play. Its a self fulfilling prophecy of sorts, the downtime is picked to minimise disruption as there are lower numbers of people on at that time, but the more down times are at those times will lead to less people in our timezone being on at all. -
Quote:I agree pretty much with a lot of what you said, but expecting a promise of no downtime on night xxx ever is unreasonable and will never happen. What would make me happy is if they pushed maintenance back two hours. Then they could run it every night of the week if they want, I would not care. Failing that, I want them to promise not to _ever_ run maintenance on two consistent week nights, so that both my once weekly groups can play. Both of them have moved their nights, and neither is safe from being utterly forked around.
((snip))
There are times when patching must be done. I wouldnt expect NCsoft to promise what they cant deliver, and we are better off asking for things that are possible.
Quote:Be aware with this new maintenance window, every single time you have "Just one more downtime" because you can't get your act together, it is utterly destructive to our game in a way no patch or nerf has ever been.
Not much worse than paying to play a game thats down mostly when you want to play.
And it makes it very hard to bring new addicts in. -
Quote:I think you've cracked it.If you look closely, you'll realise the devs hate islands.
The main gathering place of villains? Islands.
Where the most hated villain group in the game came from? Island of Malta.
Where do giant monsters live, repeatedly? Islands.
Where can't you live if you want to take part in a CoH/V contest? An island.
It's isleophobia, I tells ya! ;-) -
For rez, you could also use the dayjob Physician ( http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Physician_Badge ).
-
It would be quite a twist if it turns out Praetoria has a market interface that is a combined/merged market.

Does this mean the tag " the undrn3t is everywhere" is going to be spammed everywhere?
Typical computer systems, always used for spam or porn first
I'm assuming resistence and electircty is an intentional pun
RESISTENCE IS USELESS /vogon -
Quote:In real life, I would would prefer someone to talk to me in private. Not shouting abuse at me when I'm in a group of mostly strangers. You missed my point. Here on the forum you have an identity. In real life would you like to be told something rude or mean to your face , therefor knowing the identity of the person or having anonymous calls saying rude or mean things to you ?
A PM would be closer to what I would like.

I'd add that whomevers they are, your reaction is sadly going to feed them ):
However if they have left an abusive comment, the mods can deal with them if you complain.

I'd bet that mods see a point to people being able to neg rep anonymously. And I hope they dont take it away. Or only take away the numerical values and allw for comments.
Just about every forum I've been too has always had people complaining that they cant disagree with poster xxx as they will get dogpiled by all thier friends.
Whether that viewpoint has any merit doesnt matter, there will be people who are not confident enough to 'risk the wrath of regulars' but still want to disagree. -
Mucho Gratzo all
well deserved & I'll give the arcs a try -
Thanks for the post.
I dont understand the rage against it being here. I would not of read it in the PvP section.
Your examples though tend to show me why dont bother much with PvP. All the scrappers are /regen to be viable, the tankers all /ss etc.
This may not be what you meant, but my impression of it
But I'm not going to make a toon purely for PvP and level it up just to try out PvP. And dont see much point bringing in a toon to be slaughtered.
I do a little bit of arena, and rarely bloody bay if I see someone on the way as I'm getting shivans, but see them as far less optimised setting.
