"Is this on?"

"Greetings! I, Dr. Aeon, the greatest mind the world has ever known, have been asked to make an announcement on behalf of the budding architects who have benefitted with the invention of my virtual world, Mission Architect (generously funded by Crey Industries):"

Congratulations to the City of Heroes' First Annual Architect Awards winners! The winners were announced at the Hero-Con 2009 banquet. The winners' arcs truly exemplify the extraordinary fan creativity and originality that the Mission Architect was designed to showcase.

It was a challenge to narrow down the nominees and winners because we received so many excellent submissions. In the end, we had to make some tough choices. However, don't be surprised if some of the nominees receive Developer's Choice designation in the City of Heroes mission lists!

We hope all of you had as much fun creating the arcs as we did evaluating and playing them. Watch for future announcements about Mission Architect, and we wish all of you future protégés of Dr. Aeon good luck for next year!

We've posted the names of the arcs, the Arc ID numbers, and the winning architect names below so that you can easily identify and enjoy the fruits of the winners' labors.

Dr. Aeon called me on the phone, in character, to congratulate me and to confirm my address and contact info. "Hi <name>, this is Dr. Aeon..."

That right there was just about the greatest surprise of this whole thing.

Congratulations to the other winners!

Why only some? Weren't all the nominees picked by the developers?

Some of the categories were just for villain groups, etc, and not the overall arc. You can have a great custom villain and not necessarily have a great story or a well-designed set of missions.

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

Congrats to all, but to Redbone in particular. I got to see that arc very early on- Redbone is on one of my channels- and I still think it's the best storytelling I've seen yet in MA.

I am hoping that any potential players of the Sabrina's Tale arc see this.

After seeing a comment calling the last mission "just flat out crazy" (a turn of phrase that's entered my pattern of speech now), I have tested the mission as it stands as a Dev's Choice selection. Apparently, when they "flipped the switch" on Dev's Choice for the arc, something corrupted in the file that controls the critters that spawn in the final mission. As such, the last mission spawns only one type of mob rather than the "combined group" I set up using customized standard critters and one special EB. Unfortunately, that one type happens to be the special EB... in every group. At sufficently low settings, it is "just" a boss, but that's still a very difficult row to hoe when there's three or more of them in a single spawn. I had a feeling this is what had happened as a previous patch had done something similar to the same mission. The oddest thign is, if I remove all my local AE files, then save a copy of the Dev Choice version and run a test on it, it functions properly, only the live version has the error.

I have also gone back and tested that specific mission in my local copy as well as a copy of the exact .storyarc file that was sent to the Devs for the Awards. Both of those function properly.

As such, anyone who has played the arc since Sunday (when it was functioning properly) has my sincere apologies. I have dropped a line to two Rednames requesting permission to revise the arc back to what they actually gave the award to rather than this insane thing that the arc corrupted into.

So, just for the record, the Dev's were not insane in selecting something so crazy difficult for Arc of the Year and hopefully I will hear back from the Rednames quickly and be allowed to correct the problem so everyone can play the arc without running into mega-death in the final mission.

UPDATE: Thanks to the prompt attention of Dr. Aeon, I was able to get in and repair the arc. It is now functionign as it is supposed to, so no more Elite Boss mega-death in the final mission.

A quick update on the Sabrina's Tale arc. This morning, I edited it to repair the damage. The live version has now been tested again and is working as it is supposed to.

Again, to anyone who played it yesterday, I apologize for the broken final mission.

To everyone else who plays it, I appreciate you playing the story and hope you enjoy it.

Super congratz to all the winners and the nominees too!

It is great to see AE getting some love. I seriously hope all the nominees get some juice too because a two day lag between announcing the nominees and then the winners really minimizes being a nominee when it should be something prestigious.
