Quote:The entire conversation that lead up to this made me laugh. It's been a couple thousand years, I think it's safely in the public domain by now.
Nothing against you, OP, but I'd quit while you're ahead.
More on the original topic, no, I don't believe Patron Powers should be customizable. They're not our character's own powers the way Epic Power Pools are, they're taken directly from the patrons. -
I absolutely love AR/Dev Blasters. It's still the only Blaster I've had get all the way to 50.
It does take a talented player to make it work but when it works it WORKS. I'm nearly unstoppable solo (on SOs) and feel like I pull my weight (at least) when teamed. The synergy is also excellent in my opinion.
That being said, Electric/ has always seemed to be subpar for soloing, thought I find it useful on teams if you're slotted with End Mods in your attacks. -
Seriously?
I'm neutral in the battle over origins - I love them all and believe they all have a place in a universe of super heroes and villains.
That being said, Magic content has been long overdue for an addition recently. It makes perfect sense in the lore as well. -
My vote is for keeping Mastermind pets for Masterminds.
An exception to this rule, for those who are dying to complete a theme, would be to expand the number of available Lore options. -
If they doubled the number of faces and hair styles and put them into packs I could guarantee they'd be getting my money. I really like the idea of the old ones being updated as well with higher res looks, though leaving them in in their current state as well is extremely important.

I'm all for an obviously tech-based control set. A combination of traps and trick arrow!

Quote:There's a very good chance that if CoH went the route of custom characters (in the way that you are describing) I would be leaving the game. I love the system that is in place now and can't stand the ones that you are referring to.But these "concept" builds might be another way to extend a aging MMORPG. There's another superhero MMORPG that lets you build a much more "custom" character so that you could truly express your individual ideas.
I'm not after tank mages here (play a VEAT), but something that really allows a lot more options. Like what if my concept is a vigilante with a gun who also has dual pistols for back up and knows martial arts? I think that's impossible right now. But it shouldn't be impossible to do, and doesn't have to be unbalancing if the values on damage and defense are within reason.
That being said, you've made me realize there -are- things the devs could do that would result in me cancelling my subscription! -
If this were anything other than a travel power of some sort I would be disappointed. The amount of work required to do anything more than that would be a huge drain on the resources that could be used for content that would be far more interesting in my opinion.
All things considered, even a motorcycle travel power seems like it would be a challenge to implement. -

Both of these seem like they would be solid builds. I'll have to give them a shot!

I'll be the first to admit that even after a few years of playing I've only recently begun dabbling in IOs...
As such, many of my own characters are currently works in progress that I am learning from. However, I would love to see what people could come up with for my eight year old brother's character.
The character in need of help is a Dark/Dark Scrapper. Here is the challenge for those who have the interest and/or the generosity to help:
- He wants to be able to fly
- A solution to the endurance issues would be ideal (I know that's a lot to ask for this build)
- Preferably a solid build that has good offense and defense
- I am willing to go up to about 500 mil on the build
I know that Dark/Dark in general is a lot if strategy for a younger kid to take in but he loves the characters and I want him to have the most fun with him possible.
Thanks in advance! -
This thread is incredible. Both the OP and the reply have me laughing.

Well done.
I know a lot of people have been complaining about Electric on here and hopefully this will help them get there characters up and running. -

An interesting read for sure.
Although I disagree, I will acknowledge that your ideas are well-thought and show creativity. I do enjoy the gimmicks on the sets but I also enjoy sets that I don't have to constantly track which power I am using when. -
I've heard that Battle Axe and Broad Sword are basically clones from a couple players now.
However, Broad Sword is one of my favorite power sets and Battle Axe is on the other end of the spectrum. I'm starting to wonder why that is now. -
The costume editor was the first thing that sold me on the game and that was long before it is what it is now. Being able to make just about anything (with new pieces being added frequently) continues to result in me having little to no interest in any other MMO.
Well done, devs, well done. -
Quote:This. They never gave a date when Staff was coming out until today. All they did was release it on beta so it could get some much needed testing. Be patient, and stop complaining.
The developers don't owe us anything by any date until they tell us the date. Beta is NOT there to be a 'Coming Soon!" advertisement it is there to test aspects of the game that need testing. -
As much as I love Broad Sword, War Mace and Katana... Battle Axe seems lacking to me. Maybe it's the animations but I seriously doubt it.
I'm nowhere near the number cruncher that some people are but I can't seem to get hooked on Battle Axe even with a solid concept that I enjoy.
Any thoughts? I would especially like to hear from people who DO like the set considering I want to like it. Though, I'm repeatedly told that if I want an axe go with the one in Titan Weapons. -
I'd still prefer Phantoms in the Illusion Control set were given the choice of being our dopplegangers.
On the other hand, I strongly support Mastermind customization. I've been dying to turn my Thugs into Family since I first made them years ago! -
I could be wrong, but isn't there already a clipboard emote that does basically the same thing?
