Sorry I should have been more specific on "potential". Basically I like to run missions on the highest difficulty possible, such as tip missions. I also like to team with friends or run incarnate content. I don't really farm. If I happen to come across an AV solo I wouldn't mind taking it on alone.
-
So I currently have four 50s and am curious which has the most potential performance (PVE/Incarnate). I have enough influence now to put as much as I want into a build of my choice. Here are the options:
Katana/Regen scrapper
Street Justice/Will Power scrapper
Dual Blades/Electric Brute
Water/Ice Blaster
So if you had no budget, and considering ATO set 2 and upcoming new sets/set changes; which would you think has the most potential?
My other option is to finish leveling a Crab Spider, but I seem to like melee better, so I may not end up doing that. -
Quote:Fair opinion. I wouldn't say it's a stress to me as I have fun trying to get it. Right now my goal is to get enough for a Crab Spider project I'm going to work on in I24. The goal is to have the absolute best IO's I can for the build I want (final build still pending as I need the new Mids for IO changes/additions). Considering purples, glad +3%, new sets, and new ATIOs, I'm guessing quite a few billion; especially considering I want some sets while leveling. I've managed to save up around 3B at this point, so I may be in good pace to make the goal a reality (unless I24 hits in a couple weeks lol).Inf level defined as 'real influence' varies depending on how much you've got, IME.
I used to consider the 16M I had on my main a lot at one point (Issue 3/4).
Then my first toon got to 100M, that was a lot.
Then I inf capped my main. That was a lot.
Nowadays, I've got all my alts capped and 23Bn stored, and I don't think about it. I can afford anything and find I don't actually want anything. (This drives some people up the wall, I've got Billions of inf, and most of my toons run around on SO's <grin>)
Chasing inf for the sake of having inf is a game some people play, some others chase it for builds, and some just acquire it as a habit nowadays (that's me). Don't get stressed about not having as much inf as the next person, it'll come with time, patience and playing the game.
All that is purely IMO, of course.
Either way it'll be fun to see if I can meet the challenge I've set for myself. -
Quote:Color me jealous. I just started to try to make real influence, and was doing ok converting cheap purples, but that has stopped since double xp weekend. I do ok with ATIOs, but not burn 110B ok lol. I'm waiting for the day the secret dawns on me and I can play with the high rollers.Did you do a post for this? Do you need like 20x characters with 50x 1B bids or such? I'm pretty sure even after burning ~110B or so on the 88s, I think I could still scrounge up 350-400B already if I went on a liquidation spree. Might be worth trying to join this club. (And I bet TopDoc could join if he were at all inclined... at one point he had >200B just in pvp recipes stocked up.)
-
I had fun with it. Wish I got the aura, but random is random.
I'd actually like to see more random events like this, it shakes things up a bit. Even if was just random invasions with no announcement or schedule. Something like the Rikti invasions.
Something else that could be fun too is if a NCSoft employee could man something like a Jack in Irons and randomly go to a zone and cause havoc. Beef up the HP and Damage of the monster to the point that it would take a large amount of people to overcome. -
I play with Pandora or Spotify on so sounds are a non issue to me. Does fear break easy or am I doing something wrong? I have a low level dark/ma on beta and it seems like things randomly break out of fearsome stare (i think that's the name), shoot me, and then go back to being feared.
-
So with my water blaster project almost complete, I am planning out my I24 follow up. This time I will be making an expensive Permadom of some flavor. I've narrowed it down to two options, but don't know which to pick (I like both concepts).
My choice is between Plant/Thorn or Dark/Martial Assault. As far as goals go, I want to control/lock-down spawns and then, well dominate them. This is PVE only and should be both great on large, challenging spawns solo and useful in itrials.
With all that said, what are the pros and cons of the choices I'm looking at. All I really know is that Plant as a primary is king. Is Dark that far behind plant in control performance?
Does anyone have any suggestions or insights on the two choices (I know MA isn't out, but I like the feel based on my beta testing).
Thanks for any help you can offer. -
I think I may go cardiac core then for alpha. I don't run hasten, but I have enough global recharge to fire big powers off constantly. I hate running out of end in fights. I should get some extra damage from assault hybrid so I think I'll be a powerhouse even if I skip musculature alpha.
Thanks -
So I am working on a water/ice blaster and am not sure if I have a good enough amount of end rec. Right now in Mid's I'm at:
Recovery 184% (3.06/s)
End Drain: 1.33/s
This is with Tough, Weave, Manuevers, Chilling Embrace, Combat Jump, and Hover toggled on (all needed for my Ranged Defense soft cap).
I also have the perf shifter +end in stamina.
Do you think this is enough end recovery? I'm debating if I want the damage boost or the end reducer Alpha slot. -
Hey all,
I am working on a PVE water/ice hover blaster build and could use some advise. I'm shooting for Ranged D softcap, without sacrificing on primary power damage (as much as possible at least).
I've hit the 45% mark, but had to pull slots from Tidal Forces and Build Up recharge to do so. I also skipped hasten, as it didn't seem that necessary in this build.
Please let me know what you think and/or where I can improve.

Not too long ago I wrote a post on the Champion forums looking for ways to find non-DFB teams while leveling. This really stemmed from a long term feeling that some of the magic I felt in this game had been lost over the years, due to the steamrolling, power leveling, approach that seems common recently. Ultimately, I missed the excitement of new challenges and a solid team that completes missions together through adapting to situations and relying on everyone's ability to rise above their own skills to become something greater.
Last night, thanks to some new chat channels I was invited to, I ran an Abandoned Sewer Trial for the first time (been here off and on since May 04). This one gaming session brought back all the magic and memories I have been missing over last couple of years. The team I was on was a classic set up of tanks (had 2 but one dropped at some point), control, healing, and dps. We all had a role to play and at least I can say that I felt like we were all needed.
We had a rocky start with some deaths (no wipes), but adapted to the trial and ultimately found ourselves learning how to tackle the challenges together, as a team. I would say that my favorite part was when we completed the mission with less than 3 minutes on the clock, cleaning up the last Ritki on the stairs. Nothing feels quite as heroic to me as "disarming a bomb" with only seconds to spare.
So to those I grouped with last night, I thank you. You reminded me why I love this game, and the great moments it can produce.
Officer Parable (@nicoliy) Champion Server -
I just checked my account settings and I have the proper email address and am set to receive such things; however, I have not and never have received newsletters. Am I missing something?
-
Even at 25% off I feel the xp booster is too high priced. At the reduced rate it was sold for during the holiday weekend I bought four of the five packs. If that price was the normal price I'd likely buy them frequently to help level alts. Considering the fact that they only last an hour per use, I don't feel like they need to be as expensive as they are.
At the normal or 25% reduced price I'd rather save points for other things. -
Champion,
A few weeks ago I started a new Scrapper (on my home server of Champion) and with a few exceptions, the only teams I can seem to find are DFB. I used DFB to get to 22 and SO levels, as well as a couple other times to finish off a couple bars to level; however, I'd much prefer to group in regular content up to 50 (missions, TF, ect). At this point I am lvl 39 and have only found 3 teams over the holiday weekend that were not DFB.
In this dilemma, I started thinking that maybe the issue is that I have not joined a SG yet. So in this I ask, are there any SG out there that still group regularly and have use for a lonely scrapper. I tend to game after 8:30 mountain time and would love to join you if so. My global is @nicoliy and this character is Officer Parable.
Thanks,
Nicoliy -
Overall pretty happy. I will be buying some XP boosters and will likely pick up some dual inspirations if only to help keep the price low hopefully.
Did they happen to state if the IO sets will have the individual IO's on sale too, or do you only get the deal if you get the whole set? There are individual IOs from the sets that I'd defiantly buy, but I'm not sure that I'll get the whole set just to end up not using half of them.
On a side note, I was hoping to see storage increases go on sale, especially the enhancement storage. The dog would have been nice to see on sale too, I really want it, but the cost feels a bit high. -
Here are some of my ideas (some probably already said, some may be available already):
1. Inspiration Packs: comes with tier 1, 2, or 3 inspirations; x amount of each type of inspiration in that tier, but last longer than the usual ones, maybe 30 minutes to an hour.
2. Teleport Pack: comes with 5 charges of team teleport, mission teleport, AH teleport, and maybe other teleports that are valid/useful.
3. Someone mentioned common enhancements that level with you, love this idea so it's worth putting back down here.
4. Salvage packs for recipes. Grants x amount of y type of salvage, more expensive for each tier of salvage (rare costs more then uncommon for example).
5. Temp Buff Pets. Sort like the vet reward ones, but untouchable. Lasts x amount of time and buffs one aspect. You get x amount of uses (so maybe 1 hour pet, 5 uses) before needing to buy another. -
I am having the same issue with the free points and contacted support this weekend. Here is the question I sent and the response:
Question:
Based on my past billing history I have been receiving the monthly VIP points of 400 on about the 12th of the month. I have not received my points in the month of November. When will I receive the monthly points owed?
Response:
Hello,
Keep in mind that the Paragon Points were granted early in September and October. This means that everyone with a VIP subscription on October 12th received 400 points on or about October 12th, regardless of their true stipend date. This means that it would have been possible to receive your stipend up to two weeks early resulting in up to six weeks between the October and November stipends.
I am showing that your next stipend date is November 30th, which is more in line with your billing date. Please let us know if you do not have the additional points added by December 1st. -
I updated a couple things in my build which gives some more regen. The rest remains about identical. I'm not high enough yet to see if going for the HP/Regen bonuses is durable enough, but it is a blast to play so far.
I am avoiding the PVP sets/IOs. I have a few toons with 3-4 billion IO builds, but the concept of this toon is intentionally not perfect. If I want to go toe to toe with an AV and laugh I have a couple other toons for that.
I want this toon to be one I have to think about while I play, but at the same time not so squishy that a fart in the wind puts me in the hospital.

So I have a concept I want to run with and wanted to grab some build opinions/suggestions from you all.
Long story short my character is part of the PPD and has no super powers (the only reason I took SJ is to open up spring attack). He is well trained in hand to hand combat and has slightly faster than normal reflexes and fighting ability.
With this concept in mind I rolled STJ/Willpower.
Now in the past all of my melee types are softcapped to at least S/L. With this toon I was hoping to do something different, yet still viable. I realize softcap is more durable, but I was thinking of maximizing HP bonuses, regen bonuses, recovery, and hopefully some damage bonuses as this is a scrapper.
Here is where I'm at so far (build below). Can you experts look it over and let me know if you see where I can maximize the above goals better. Also, seeing as how I'll be lacking in some defenses, am I totally a wet paper bag doing this? If so, any suggestions besides going all the way to soft cap?

Thank you for the feedback. I don't quite have a revised build to post yet, but a couple of questions before I do.
With perma DP not being all that important, is there much use for Hasten? I'd like to pick up Physical Perfection (I think this is the name in the APP). To do so I need to drop 2 more powers. I want to keep the spring attack for concept reasons. I'm thinking of dropping hasten if it's not needed and one other power (not sure yet). -
Alright first tweaks are in. Here is where I'm still lacking.
1. I'm just shy of E/N defense soft cap
2. Shin Breaker and Crushing Uppercut are underslotted
3. I dropped heavy blow for conserve energy for endurance crunch times. It seems I'll have a good attach chain without HB anyway.
4. I'm not sure about the overall end usage on this build. It seems like it'll be ok if I keep a couple blues around as needed.
Any ideas on how to fix my issues?

Hi all,
I'm going to be starting an Inv/StJ tank very soon and have been toying in Mids a bit to get ready. I know that I am off base right now. I seem to be having an issue balancing the right mix of defense and resistance in the sets I'm picking. Can you please help me with determining a better way to starting these def/res sets?
Influence is not an issue (except for purples). Also, the powers in there are likely to stay for concept reasons. This means no APP/PPP, but what can you do lol (this is concept).
My main goals are to be a great tank, and to have Dull Pain perma (I'm not sure how that works with the math on non-perma hasten though).
I apologize in advance for the mess you are about to see. I know my attacks are slotted poorly, but that is because I know I am wasting slots somewhere on some of the defensive bonuses.

Farsight does not stack from the same caster.
Also, if you are using the recent mids update be careful when checking the defense values with PB. Right now it is enhancing defensive values in powers such as hover, CJ, etc. What I have done to get around this is find out the difference in Farsight with and with out PB, then checking the defense values without PB turned on, and adding the added Farsight PB benefit. Also, I know in illusion's Grant Invisibility power, the totals window is showing non-suppressed defense amounts. I don't know if this is happening with other powers, but it is worth double checking if you are going for soft cap. -
Good to know and thank you. I'm working on a new build for more recovery and end bonuses right now (with Fire App). I'm using GI instead of SI since it's perma anyway (reducing a toggle end hog), so hopefully that isn't an issue with invis walking into new mobs for PA.

Quote:I'm seeing more and more value in fire APP and less for Primal now (good discussions). I'm thinking if I go this route to pick Fire Blast, Shield, and Consume. To add slots to the fire powers though it looks like I need to pull slots from ST. The loss in recharge bonus is not a big deal as I can put decimation in blast for the same bonus, but am I losing some necessary control by dropping so many slots from Spooky? But if you are constantly running out of end or having end issues, what good is softcapping? You have more of a job to do than not getting hit. I don't even think powerboost is all that important here either. Between your primary/secondary/epic shield you are plenty safe here. You have a -to hit aura, all kinds of slows, distraction from PA, a good click defensive power, add to that a shield (resist or defensive), you'll be fine that's tons of mitigation. Just a simple understanding of aggro management and you'll be standing the whole time.
To the PA next mob question: I turn off T Juncture, turn on SI and run just past the mob. Once PA has aggro I retoggle TJ and hit them with the slow patch.
Also, as this change in APP does take me away from S/L cap by a good amount, is there a number that may be too low in defense or is it just that unnecessary. I hate those moments where I get agrro for 2 seconds and insta splat.
